This morning I was watching the Impact replay and noticed something pathetically funny yet interesting at the same time... the Frontline fell like bowling pins at the feet of MEM but MEM practically lined up to take right hands from Foley. It got me thinking about the main storyline and...
Where is it going? I mean I thought it was suppose to put over the not so established guys. It's been all about MEM against Jarrett, Foley, Rhyno, AJ, 3D, and Joe (in that order.) What is this "war" going to accomplish in the long run? So far it has re-confirmed that WWE/WCW guys > ECW guys > TNA guys... on both sides of the feud! When/if the faces defeat MEM, it's going to be because they had a plethora of guys like MEM on their side... validating the heel's point of view all along.
When you take the initial purpose out of this storyline what does that leave you with? TNA cashing in on its collection of acquisitions as a collection as opposed to individuals... of course hidden behind a mafia concept that has led to some great beatdown segments, but a few cinematic beatdowns does not a great stable make. What happens when the dust settles on this feud? AJ is less relevant than when he was with Christian, and he's the top "TNA guy." Joe has been established as the whiny bitch... everyone else might as well be labeled "Replaceable TNA pushover #1-5." I don't see Christopher Daniels' return being as bright as most people hope in the long term... he'll get pushed down the card soon enough, and we'll see the MEM breakup and battle eachother for the next year or two. Thoughts?

I don't know TNA is just confusing to me as a whole. I can't stand to watch it so I don't. I really wish they would have focused on being different and stuck with it. Now it just feels like another WWE show with a six sided ring.

I think Sting will turn on the MEM going into Lockdown - then join their team for a Lethal Lockdown match.
The faces will win and it'll all be over.

They could have made this last for a good couple of years. But like everything else in TNA it has to end in a shitty way

They ed it up, Joe/Daniels/Styles should have been the top guys of group not Rhino/3D/Foley/Jarrett Foley taking so LONG to "run down" the ramp and then take out the Mafia looked so sad....

I dont know, but im really hating this storyline. There saying we made TNA, were the orginals, but there forgtting about Shark Boy, who was there since day 1, and i havent seen him on impact in a while. Plus, AJ Daniels And Joe should be in the lead.

*waits for ICW to stop riding my balls and bringing my name up where I haven't even replied nor even looked at the post until now* tna rulez... To answer the question of this thread, I honestly have no clue. TNA is very confusing with their storylines and this one is no different.

I still fail to see how people are confused by this storyline - not that hard to understand.

Who called it? The Main Event Mafia'll sweep and dominate and crush the undercard until they break up and feud with each other. It's the Millionare's Club all over again.

Sting will join the Front Line and take out the MEM like he used to the NWO.........in the process guys like AJ and Joe will have earned respect from Sting whom I believe this whole thing began around, giving a measure of closure..........it also served as a great launch for the heel turn of the MCMG that is almost complete. I love it

Yeah it honestly should have been MEM vs. Jarrett, Joe, AJ, and Daniels. But it's turning into a debacle of a storyline. I think at this point that TNA is best ending all of it at Lockdown in a Lethal Lockdown match. On the front, this idea seemed good. But I think it'll end up in a mess, and one of those "where do we go from here?" situations.

I can't help thinking about the main event scene post-MEM... sure this feud looked promising to build new stars but all it did was make the two they had created into laughing stocks. Was it Lance Storm who said "If you're called a chump by the heel and the heel is beaten, he doesn't become the chump, he was just beaten by one."? I think that applies now more than ever. Joe and AJ are the only stars TNA has created in OVER FOUR YEARS... let that fact marinate for a minute. Below AJ and Joe is a dark void that separates the main event scene from guys who seemingly will never get a chance to main event as long as their is another acquisition to slip in from the top. AJ and Joe have pretty much feuded with every WWE/WCW/ECW guy Jarrett could get his hypocritical, unimaginitive claws on. Will the old guys start battling the old guys soon? Nash/Sting? Steiner/Booker? Angle/Nash? CAN'T WAIT!

But I think it'll end up in a mess, and one of those "where do we go from here?" situations. I think adding Team 3D is fine along with Foley because it adds something to the "Frontline" that the Mafia doesn't have (storyline wise). If you've got 5 world champions in one group - egos are going to clash, if you've got Joe, Styles, Jarrett, Foley, 3D & Rhino - they're not going to clash due to the fact they're fighting for the "future of TNA" which is the same fight as everyone else in the FL. They can pull this storyline somewhat to Slammiversary and pull a Slammiversary '06 - Sting/Cage's "egos" clash while they both have the chance to hang it. They could do Sting/Angle really - Styles pushes them off the ladder, grabs the belt - world champion. It'll end good no mater what because being "put over" to me doesn't mean you have to win every match. If you have a guy in Jay Lethal who takes Angle/Sting to their limit, you just "made" Lethal into a guy who can be a main eventer. It's kinda like when he wrested Jeff Jarrett to his limit back in '06 for the World Title. He took Jeff to his limit and made you go "Wow!". Losing isn't always a bad thing. If at the end of the storyline (if it's at Lockdown) and they do "Lethal Lockdown" and do Sting/Angle/Steiner/Nash vs. Styles/Jarrett/Petey/Samoa Joe then it's fine and which ever team wins gets world title shots.

I think it's better to just accept that TNA s everything up that could become great. No sense in trying to make sense of it. WWE is like that too at times.

I'm not trying to "make sense" of it - since I don't need to. I understand it 100% - how often do you watch iMPACT?
