Jeff Wilen of the Daytona Beach News-Journal sent word that TNA released an official statement regarding "The Wrestler" movie. Here is TNA's statement: "We're happy to see professional wrestling in the mainstream spotlight through the movie 'The Wrestler.' Mickey Rourke's performance is nothing short of sensational; Mickey Rourke is the movie. His portrayal of an over-the-hill wrestler struggling to find his own meaning in life has already been talked about as Oscar-worthy, and rightfully so."
Unlike WWE, TNA's statement regarding "The Wrestler" wasn't backhanded. WWE said this past week: "While 'The Wrestler' is a very engaging movie, it portrays how wrestling was conducted in some independent wrestling circuits, unlike WWE, which is a global brand with millions of fans."

Update 1/5/09:
TNA will be working on finalizing the location of their 2/8 Against All Odds PPV this week. There are several venue possibilities, with Orlando, FL the backup plan.
The 2008 TNA Bound for Glory DVD will be released this Tuesday.
Former TNA wrestler Rellik (aka Johnny Stamboli) recently left AAA in Mexico.
Scheduled for this Thursday's edition of Impact will be Kurt Angle vs. BG James, Robert Roode vs. Matt Morgan, Alex Shelley vs. Eric Young in a semi-final bout for the X-Division championship tournament, several major angles and more.
Prior to this weekend's PPV, TNA will make their live event debut in Wilson, NC on Friday 1/9 with Booker T, Rhino, Beer Money, Inc., Jacqueline, Abyss, Sheik Abdul Bashir, Motor City Machine Guns, Jay Lethal, Cute Kip, TNA Knockouts champion Awesome Kong, Eric Young, Taylor Wilde, Sonjay Dutt, and Traci Brooks.
ODB, Christy Hemme, Jackie Moore, Taylor Wilde and former TNA star Payton Banks will all be appearing this Saturday at the KandS Wrestlefest in Carteret, NJ. For details, visit www.kandswrestlefest.com
The 1/1 edition of Impact did a 1.0 cable rating (rounded up from a 0.95). Just like last week, considering it was a holiday, that is a solid number in my opinion.
