Honestly, this is how I feel- If a show is good one week, that doesn't mean the rating's will be. If anything, the ratings the following week will be better.

If anything, the ratings the following week will be better. but see thats not always the case and the thing about it is, as you said its matter of opinion. I might think tna was great this week and the other 1.0 million mighta thought it sucked. what my big issue is with people that take ratings to mean more than what they are then try to use it as abeating stick to judge another promotion. you wanna jusde a promotion do it on the content. The best way i can judge this is to read alot of the boards and gauge people likes or dislikes but again we make up a small percentage. I will watche both wwe and tna and I'll give both praise and hell when they desrve it. I really enjoyed lasts nights ppv, maybe some didnt, but i'll stick to my opinions and not be swayed by some fickle ratings system. as much as Raw sucked, imo, i'll be watchin again becasue im a wrestling fan. And guess what the nielson boxes arent in every wrestling fans home...so again more inaccuracies. just trying to make the point that ratings whouldnt be blown outt proportion. I get tired of people putting the tna ratings up then someone else(not you) coming over and glaoting about it. they're pointless and shouldnt be used to gauge anything of value related to the product inmo. |

The rating system is flawed, which makes wrestling shows, both WWE & TNA suffer. Unless you have a Nielsen Box, you watching the show isn't going to make a difference in the ratings. I don't know why we still use a 58-59 year old system to tell us how much of a show is being watched.

And I think TNA has been great, just people who dont realize TNA. There like "OHMEEGEE LAK OF HHH AND CENA LOZL"

Nielsen Television Ratings are gathered in one of two ways: 1. Viewer "diaries," in which a target audience self-records its viewing or listening habits. By targeting various demographics, the assembled statistical models provide a rendering of the audiences of any given show, network, and programming hour. 2. A more technologically sophisticated system uses Set Meters, which are small devices connected to televisions [glow=red,2,300] in selected homes[/glow]. These devices gather the viewing habits of the home and transmit the information nightly to Nielsen through a "Home Unit" connected to a phone line. The technology-based home unit system is meant to allow market researchers to study television viewing habits on a minute to minute basis, seeing the exact moment viewers change channels or turn off their TV. In addition to set meters,individual viewer reporting devices, such as people meters, have allowed the company to separate household viewing information into various demographic groups, but so far Nielsen has refused to change its distribution of data of ethnic groups into subgroups, which could give more targeted information to networks and advertisers. Changing systems of viewing have impacted Nielsen's methods of market research. In 2005, Nielsen began measuring the usage of digital video recordings such as TiVo. Initial results indicate that time-shifted viewing will have a significant impact on television ratings. The networks are not yet figuring these new results into their ad rates at the resistance of advertisers |

It's so comical how the decision makers in TNA put all their stock in the ratings. It's to the point where they celebrate over inching past WWE's C-level developmental show. People in power at TNA are still stuck in the Monday night wars bubble. You can draw all the "record ratings" you want, but it means nothing if business is not increasing.

I've been saing this since the first 1.3 they got months ago. And i hate to say i told you so but Here's the Russo booked TNA now dropping .1. Before anyone says anything, it's a drop so its a big deal. "Oh Russo is booking now, the rating are up" Bullshyt! If your arguments are gonna be based on ratings then the argument just blew up. Again the ratings are crap. Now I'm supposed to believe that this "OMG I LOVE ITDKOEKROW" brawl was less entertaining then 2 weeks ago MEM fest? Come on people the ratings will matter when more people give a crap about TNA. And that aint gonna happen till TNA gives a crap about their product and their veiwers. |
