You know, JAKKS has been making quite a few series of rereleased figures lately, but honestly, who cares?
I want new good figures as much as anyone else here, but with the sheer amount of product JAKKS releases, if every figure of every wrestler in every set was astounding, i know, I would have a very empty wallet.
The way I look at it is, instead of getting angry about some of the lame figures, just be excited for the good ones coming out and focus on them. After all, no one is gonna put a gun to my head and make me purchase RA38.5. Its just a set to not worry about and cross off the list.
Lately I'm slowing down anyway because I notice Im buying a lot of figures to play with loose and Im getting so many that a lot of them end up almost never being used and its a bit of a waste.
So for me, slowing down a little and just focusing on superb figures is a good thing. Again, you buy the figures that are good and as for the rest, rereleases or whatever, no ones making you buy them so just ignore them. It's easier on the wallet and we will get good figures.

I honestly share your opinion.
The more rereleases & repaints = the more money in my pocket for other things.
If every single line of figures that release was amazing & stuff I wanted, I wouldn't be able to afford the other things I want to buy.
Wrestling is a very significant part of my life, and has been for the past 12 years. I've been buying figures that entire time too. Because of this I'm honestly looking forward to the end of Jakks. It will make walking away from buying wrestling figures alot easier. I'm getitng older and need to start saving my money and using it on other things.....I will always buy figures, I know that much.....but it is indeed time to slow down.

I agree with both of your opinons really who cares because if theres one crapy fig in a set who cares they will make a rerelease figure better then the last one.So don't cry and complain they will make better figs if the first fig is crapy Jakks always does anyways.

I normally do not have a problem with rereleased figures in a set because figures like Kofi are hard to find now so its nice to have a second chance to buy them.
However the biggest problem I have with RA 38.5 were that certain expectations were laid out for the set that led to it being such a huge disapointment. We were supposed to get a smiling Kofi scan, Jericho in short trunks, etc, etc. If we didn't hear about that before there prob wouldn't be as much of an outcry as there is now.
Just my opinion but like I said I don't mind rereleases. Keeps money in my pocket.
Tyler.

I think the main complaint people have is not the re-releases, it's the fact that we are misled and lied to about it. If they never told anyone they would switch parts on Scotty 2 Hotty, then it's not really as big of a deal. If they hadn't put smiling Kofi and anrgy Festus, then the re-releases are not as big of a deal.
Re-releases are an important part of any toy line, that is just a fact. But don't get your customers' hopes up, and in some cases flat out lie to them, and then just release whatever you have in the factory to save costs in the last year of your contract.
Re-releases are great for the people who can't find some of the more popular figures. But making entire lines of re-releases when that is not what was promised is just bad business.

only time i would buy a rereleased figure is if the fig I have broke, I would get another one, now my new house has hard floors and when my figs fall they break like a Cena broke when it fell (LOL, it was funny cuz his arm popped out and first thing I looked at was his screaming headscan) so luckily I have 2 other cenas. I didnt even bother to buy Katie Lea, Cherry, Colin Delany, Hawkins or Ryder because there just gonna collect dust. so Im slowing down with them as well and focusing on Classics (ones I dont have)

I only have a problem with re-releases in the CS line. In the normal RA & AD lines, I don't so much care as I don't really collect those, but understand that some people may have missed out on a cool figure and a re-release will help them out.
However, in the CS line, I get pissed at re-releases. I'm all up for re-paints, but not re-releases for several reasons:
1) Jeremy way back said we wouldn't see any re-releases in the CS line. 2) How much can the cost be to switch paint (red to white, red to black, pink to black, etc) 3) In the CS line, re-releases are just a wasted spot that could have been used to release a new character/personality

Well the business model hasn't hurt Jakks yet. Why does everyone get so upset when Jakks does this? It is nothing new so we all should be used to it. I know I am. Jakks/Jeremy Padawer just tells you what you want to hear and then they do what they want. They are in the business of making money not making everyone happy. I expect to see more repaints in 2009 than ever before. Jakks is on cruise control with the WWE product. Look at the new CSTT packs for proof of that. In my opinion all of their focus is on the launch of the UFC and TNA lines now.

I agree with you about that one thing...at least it saves me some money My biggest complain is when we get an entire set of re-releases. Im betting on Big Show not having the painted legs, so it will just be a bunch of figures I've already got (like 35.5) it would be nice to get something different in at least 1 or 2 figures.
For example, Kofi: would it have been to much for Jakks to put him in "entrance gear?" They could have used the RA 34 Shelton Benjamin body, and colored the attire in what he wears to the ring. It wouldn't have been 100% perfect, but it would have been better than just re-releasing the RA 36 figure. Or if they wouldnt do that, why not make his attire green instead of yellow? Does green paint really cost more than yellow?
It just sucks seeing a "new" set full of stuff I already have. Of course, as has been proven in the past...some of those figures may look different in the final product (look at the proto for 35.5 Triple H, then look at the final figure) but I'm not betting on it

Well, other than an occassional HHH or BnB I pretty much only buy Classics of the wrestlers I enjoyed watching and prior to CS13 it was 90-10% of a series since then it's been 50% or less of a series. But I'm not going to buy straight rereleases of figures I already bought. Will, I will buy the Bret/Yoko set if I see it as I'm a huge Hitman mark.
But with these new CSTT sets would it have killed Jakks to give Bret the Mr. Perfect torso and the newer head to make it slightly different than the CS3 Hitman? Or put Rocky Johnson & Tony atlas in different colored trunks so they were slightly different too?
