Simply put... anything that produces the same product as you, is a competitor. No if's, and's, or but's about it.
TNA, PWA, CZW, PWU, ROH, etc. are ALL a competitor of WWE... they're all wrestling promotions. Wether they're on the same page as WWE or not, still a competitor.
As for the Hall of Fame, I can see both sides. While it should be fine with the likes of Sabin, Shelley, Angle, Booker T, etc. showing they're respect to the superstars that paved the way to help break them into the business and make a name for themselves... at the same time, you never know what COULD happen. It's giving the WWE money, that in the longrun is out of TNA's finance. Not to mention if any TNA superstar was seen on camera, it could give WWE a shot to take a stab at TNA with a comment like "Even other companie's employees can't help but show they're support for these WWE legends." or something like that.
Then theres the chance of the fans (since we're all marks) of making it known that they are in attendance, which who knows? Maybe that could cause a problem. You never know...

If I was a bigger star Id tell Jarrett to shove it up his ass. I doubt they would release anyone for going.

I kind of agree, as it makes TNA look bad, but at the same time it's a special night, so it's left in the air.

The guy who said PWA is as just as much competition as TNA, as they brought in Brutus Beefcake and Team 3D is intellectually- disabled. Sure, they did that. But do PWA have international DVD deals? a forthcoming video game? lines of action figures? a UK Tour this year? I don't think so. Of course TNA is competition with the WWE. It's the closest anywhere has been since WCW and ECW.
On to the thread, I see where Jarrett is coming from, and I also agree it's not a Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, it's just WWE's Hall of Fame, which, if we're honest, is just another way to make some money on ticket sales and merchandising.

Except I can choose to freely partake in all of them. That's not much of a competition. In business, the idea of competition is to make it so that the customer has to make a choice. That's why the Monday Night Wars were so successful. It was pre-DVR, pre-Tivo, pre-next-day replays on the interwebs...you had to pick one or the other.

So some scrub little Ma and Pa shop is a competitor with Wal Mart? Nope... A competitor would be someone who is in a position to take fans (or customers) away from the other one... Just because you operate the same business doesn't make you competition with a huge company... You really just serve the purpose to keep it from an illegal Monopoly...

I've said it before, and the above is absolute gospel. There is no competition when you can record more than one thing on any given night, or time slot. Sure we all could have used a VCR, but that would mean having two TVs running so we could catch a glimpse at either. Though I don't fully blame DVRs or Tivos, I think the on screen guide can also be blamed. Eliminating channel surfing as you can push the guide, and look untill you see what you like without giving an in between channel a moment of your time.

Ma and Pop shops a direct competitor to Wal-Mart? No. Since they don't run the same shop as Wal-Mart. At one time K-Mart WAS a competitor of Wal-Mart, but Wal-Mart slaughtered the competiton.
Just like PWA is a competitor, but not direct. They offer the same product ( professional wrestling ), but don't have a national TV show.

Yeah, there's a difference between competitor, and Direct competitor. WWE has competition, but not direct competition.

No, TNA is TRYING to be direct competition. TNA doesn't have the fanbase nor the money to be direct competition yet.

TNA IS a direct competitor! Yeah...once a year, on Hall of Fame night, when the ceremony runs opposite the Impact replay.
