(SmackDown! opens with a video package highlighting last weeks mainevent with The Undertaker facing MVP. It showed all the spots in the match up to the ending with Undertaker hitting the Tombstone to clinch the victory and then the lights went out and showed the footage of Randy Orton returning after 2 weeks and standing above The Undertaker after an RKO with his World Heavyweight Championship. A firework display goes off once the video is over as SmackDown! comes from the Cricket Arena in Charlotte , NC .)
We kick off SmackDown! with the World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton coming down to the ring.
Orton: 3 weeks ago at One Night Stand, after I defeated Chris Jericho and JBL in a Triple Threat Match, I was attacked by The Undertaker (some fans cheer, some fans boo). He Powerbombed me off the side of the stage for Christ sake! I’m lucky to be standing here today as your World Heavyweight Champion (fans start to cheer). Last week, I made my long awaited return to SmackDown!, and I came back with a vengeance, a vengeance going right towards The Undertaker. This Sunday, at Night of Champions, I will KILL the legend known as The Undertaker.
Orton is then interrupted by SmackDown! General Manager and WWE Chairman, Mr. Vince McMahon.
McMahon: Randy, let me first welcome you back to SmackDown!. Now, this Sunday you will defend your World Heavyweight Championship in the mainevent against The Undertaker, but tonight, The Undertaker wants you in a tag team match, he already has his partners, and that man is Kane (fans start to cheer). So, Randy, you need to find a partner by the end of the night, or it will be a Handicap Match.
(Commercial)
Cole: Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to SmackDown!. As we just saw, there will either be a Handicap or Tag Team Match for our mainevent as The Brothers of Destruction, The Undertaker and Kane, will take on Randy Orton and a partner of his choosing.
Tazz: Yeah, Cole, it’s gonna be a great mainevent, but let’s get into some action right now, one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Monty Brown, is gonna take on one member of the Spirit Squad, Kenny.
WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPION MONTY BROWN W/ WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPION BOBBY LASHLEY VS. KENNY W/ THE SPIRIT SQUAD[/u]
The match started with Kenny getting into the face of Brown and taunting him. Monty couldn’t take it so he should him to the ground. Kenny went running at Brown, but Brown caught him and hit a Spinebuster. Brown then took Kenny to the corner and hit a few Shoulder Thrusts and then threw him to the opposite corner and ran at him and hit a Closeline to knock him off his feet. Then Brown picked him up and hit a Belly-to-Belly Suplex and then taunted the crowd (fans started to cheer). The Spirit Squad got his attention so they exchanged words. Brown turned around and got taken down with an Enzugari.
Both men get up after being down a for a good bit. They go back and forth with punches. Kenny finally realized that he would lose this battle, so he poked Brown in the eye and nailed him with a DDT. Kenny then went to the top rope and hit a Moonsault and covered Brown but only got a 2 count. Kenny then locked in a Chin Lock on Brown (the crowd started to get behind Brown). After a while, Monty stood up with Kenny on his shoulders and did a Torture Rack to him and then tossed Kenny in the air and hit a Gut Buster. Brown went for a Back Suplex, but Kenny flipped over him and when Brown turned around he got nailed with a Spinning Heel Kick.
Kenny waited for Brown to get up and then nailed him with a Neckbreaker. Kenny then jumped on top of him and then started punching him in the face until the referee got him off. Kenny then went to the top rope looking to finish the match with his Leg Drop, but Monty moved at the last second. 3 members of the Spirit Squad went over and attacked Lashley to distract the referee as Johnny came in and Low Blowed Monty and Kenny rolled up Monty Brown for the win.
WINNER: KENNY[/u]
Cole: The Spirit Squad just stole one Tazz! This isn’t looking good for the tag champs.
Tazz: If all 5 of those guys are there at Night of Champions this Sunday, I don’t give a good shot to the champs.
Cole: How will they stand a chance? It’ll be 5 on 2.
We then see Randy Orton looking backstage for a tag team partner in tonight’s mainevent.
Orton: Hey, Maven, how’s it going? Listen I need a partner for later tonight against the Brother’s of Destruction, and I was wondering if you wanted to be my partner.
Maven: I’d love to Randy, but I got a match of my own here tonight when I tag up with Y2J, I would help but I’m busy man, I’m sorry.
Orton: No problem man, hey good luck tonight.
The two shake hands as we got to a commercial break.
(Commercial)
Cole: Well it looks like Orton is asking anyone if they will tag with him tonight against Kane and The Undertaker, and he’s not finding very much luck.
Tazz: Yeah, but hey, Orton with or without a partner, I still think that he’s going to win here tonight.
Cole: We’ll see later on tonight, but coming up next Ladies and Gentlemen, we have ourselves some tag team action as Maven and Chris Jericho team up to take on Eddie Guerrero and John “Bradshaw” Layfield.
UNITED STATES CHAMPION MAVE & CHRIS JERICHO VS. EDDIE GUERRERO & JOHN “BRADSHAW” LAYFIELD[/u]
The two men to start the match off are Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho. The two men started in a Lock Up in the middle of the ring. Eddie got Chris in a Head Lock, but then Jericho reversed it into his own Head Lock so Eddie threw him off the ropes. Eddie went for a Big Back Body Drop, but Jericho flipped over Eddie into a pin but only got a two count. Jericho went for a Closeline but Eddie ducked and then nailed a chop. Then Jericho hit a chop of his own. The two went back and forth until Eddie poked Jericho in the eye and hit a Back Suplex on Y2J. Eddie picked Jericho up but Jericho was playing possum as he hit a Hurincanrana on Guerrero. Jericho then put Eddie in the corner and ran at him and Dropkicked him but before Eddie could fall, Y2J hit a DDT for good measure. Jericho then went to his corner and tagged in the United States Champion, Maven.
Maven came running in, but Guerrero crawled quickly to his corner and tagged in JBL. Both men Locked Up in the ring before Maven took advantage and hit a Belly-to-Belly Suplex. JBL turned around and then got hit with a take down move by Maven with his leg. Maven grabbed JBL by the hair and tagged in Jericho . Y2J came in and tackled JBL to the ground and just kept punching him until JBL slithered his way out to get up. Once he got to his feet, Jericho came right at him and kept attacking him until he got JBL holding himself up by the ropes. Jericho went to throw him across the ring, but held onto JBL’s hand and brought him back for a stiff Closeline.
JBL rolled out of the ring to catch his breath, but Jericho didn’t let him take a break as he spit on JBL from the inside of the ring. JBL ran right back into the ring and went for the Closeline From Hell, but Jericho did a Drop Toe Hold and then hooked on the Walls of Jericho (fans start to go nuts). After a minute or so JBL got to the ropes. Jericho went over and tagged in Maven and Maven came in and hit a release Dragon Suplex. JBL then rolled over with all his strength and tagged in Eddie. Eddie was quickly taken down with a Dropkick by Maven. Maven then picked up Eddie and hit an Airplane Spin and when he was done he hit a Swinging Neckbreaker. Maven went for the cover but only got a 2 count. Maven went to the top rope but Eddie jumped up as well without Maven knowing and hit a Superplex from the top rope. Both men were down for a while until Eddie put his arm across Maven’s chest only to get a 2 count. Eddie then waited for Maven to get up and hit the 3 Amigo’s. Eddie went to the top rope and went for the Frog Splash, but Maven caught him and went for another Belly-to-Belly Suplex but Eddie rolled Maven over for the cover with the tights for the win.
WINNERS: EDDIE GUERRERO & JOHN “BRADSHAW” LAYFIELD[/u]
Eddie ran to the back after the match and Maven chased after him. Y2J stood at the bottom of the ring entrance until JBL attack Jericho from behind. JBL then threw Jericho back into the ring and Booted him right in the face to bust him open. JBL then got on top of Y2J and started hitting him in the face to make him bleed more. JBL then waited for Jericho to get up and hit him with the Closeline From Hell. JBL wanted to put an exclamation point on his attack so he Powerbombed Jericho over the top rope to the outside.
Tazz: Oh my god, Cole! Jericho might be hurt, get some security out here! Get some EMT’s!
Cole: What a despicable attack from JBL, why does he keep doing this?! It’s doesn’t make sense, but all we know is Jericho could be very hurt. Let’s go to commercial.
(Commercial)
Cole: Welcome back to Friday night SmackDown! Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are just joining Chris Jericho was just brutally attacked by JBL and is now being rushed to the hospital.
Tazz: (looking back at the footage) I mean JBL just came out of nowhere and attacked Jericho and that Closeline From Hell looked more harsh than usual, and then watch Jericho ’s head bounce off the floor from the Powerbomb. These fans in Charlotte , NC have been silent ever since that attack.
Cole: We hope that Jericho is alright and we will keep you all posted on his conditions. Let’s head backstage with an interview with WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Gregory Helms.
Matthews: Ladies and Gentlemen my guest at this time he is the Cruiserweight Champion, Gregory Helms (fans start to boo). Helms, last week you were defeated by Paul London in what many people call an upset. What are your thoughts?
Helms: My thoughts?! Josh, last week was a fluke, ok? London got lucky last week, see, I had the flu last week and shouldn’t have been in action at all, but like the fighting champion I am, I went out and gave it my best, but tonight, I am all better from the flu and tonight I face Paul London’s tag team partner, Brian Kendrick, and if Paul tries to interfere, he better be prepared to get hurt.
We then cut to the back to see SmackDown! General Manager Vince McMahon talking with WWE Officials about Chris Jericho’s conditions.
WWE Official: As of right now, Mr. McMahon, Jericho has suffered a concussion and his spine was hurt a little bit but he should be ok.
McMahon: Thank you very much for the news, but we need to find out why JBL is doing this, and that is why next week JBL will go to the ring and explain his actions and apologize to the fans and Jericho for what he has done or I will personally take care of this problem.

WWE CRUSIERWEIGHT CHAMPION GREGORY HELMS VS. BRIAN KENDRICK W/ PAUL LONDON[/u]
While Kendrick was waiting for Helms to be done taunting the crowd, Helms jumped in the air and spun around and hit Kendrick with a kick to the head to start to the match. Helms then picked up Brian and took him to the corner and started to chop Kendrick until he ran to the opposite side of the ring and ran at Kendrick and did a jumping summersault into him. While Kendrick was sitting down in the corner, Helms Dropkicked right into the turnbuckle. Helms brought Kendrick back up and went for a Suplex, but Kendrick flipped over behind Helms and started hitting some forearms on the Cruiserweight Champion until they got to the ropes. Kendrick then threw Helms to the other side and went for a Closeline but Helms ducked. Helms came running back at Kendrick and Kendrick did a standing back flip to avoid the attack. Helms turned around and got taken down by a Head Scissors.
Kendrick then hit a standing Moonsault on Helms and went for the cover but only got a 2 count. Kendrick then picked Helms back up and hit a Suplex and went for another cover but still only got a 2 count. Kendrick went to the top rope and waited for Helms to get to his feet. He then went for a Cross Body Press, but Helms moved at the last second and Kendrick crashed and burned. Helms then stalked Kendrick and then hit the Shining Wizard and went for the cover but only got a 2 count. Helms then set up to hit it again. Helms went for it, but this time Kendrick ducked and rolled up Helms, but only for a 2 count again (fans start to cheer to show appreciation).
An enraged Helms went running at Kendrick for a Closeline, but Kendrick ducked and then hit a Back Suplex on the champ. Kendrick then pulled the champ back up and got him in a Head Lock. Kendrick jumped off the second rope and hit a DDT on Helms. Kendrick waited again for Helms to get up and then hit a Dropsault (fans start to cheer *Kendrick*). Kendrick then grabbed Helms, after taunting to the crowd, and went for the Sliced Bread, but Helms pushed him off and he hit a DDT. Helms went for yet another Shining Wizard and Kendrick ducked out of the way and went for Sliced Bread again but Helms pushed him off and hit a kick right to the temple and covered Kendrick for the win.
WINNER: CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION GREGORY HELMS[/u]
Cole: What a match that was, huh Tazz?
Tazz: Cruiserweight wrestling at it’s best, and it’s only right here on SmackDown!.
Cole: These fans love watching the Cruiserweights go at it, especially here tonight. What a great match, and I guarantee you this Sunday at Night of Champions will be no different.
Tazz: London may have beaten an ill Cruiserweight Champion, but this Sunday, he faces a healthy one, I can’t wait.
Before the commercial we see Randy Orton shaking hands with somebody about later on tonight, Randy Orton has got himself a tag team partner for later the mainevent which is next.

Cole: Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to SmackDown! coming to you from Charlotte , NC as we are at our last stop before Night of Champions. Let’s run you through the card again.
Tazz: Yeah, Cole, let’s. Well we gotta thank Rev Theory for giving Night of Champions the theme song “Hell Yeah” from their latest album Light It Up in stores now. Anyways, Maven is gonna be defending his United States Championship against Eddie Guerrero. These two have been fighting since the show after One Night Stand and it will all come to an end this Sunday,
Cole: That’s not all from SmackDown!. Our Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms, who we just saw in action, will be defending his title against Paul London who pretty much embarrassed the champion last week. Also, the WWE Tag Team Champions Bobby Lashley & Monty Brown have some unfinished business with the Spirit Squad and they will defend the belts on Sunday.
Tazz: And don’t forget about this match, the mainevent! Randy Orton will be defending his World Heavyweight Title against The Undertaker, and get this Rev Theory is swinging by this Sunday to perform the Night of Champions theme and Randy Orton’s theme. Speaking of which, it’s time for the mainevent.
The music hits and reveals that Randy Orton’s tag team partner tonight is Christian Cage.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION RANDY ORTON & CHRISTIAN CAGE VS. THE BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION: KANE & THE UNDERTAKER[/u]
The two men to start the match were Christian and Kane. The two mean Locked Up in the middle of the ring. Cage got a Head Lock on Kane but Kane shoved him off into the ropes. Kane went for the Big Boot but didn’t connect as Cage ducked and jumped on Kane’s back and locked in a full body Sleeper Hold. Kane found a way to get out of it by smashing Christian into a corner. Kane then hit Cage with some elbows and some punches and then pulled him back out of the corner. Kane picked Christian up for a Suplex but Cage slipped out of it and hit a Reverse DDT. Christian went for a Northern Lights Suplex but soon found out he could not lift Kane, so Kane got Christian and hit a Suplex of his own.
Kane got back up and went for a Leg Drop and nailed it hard on Christian. Kane got Christian in a Head Lock and took him over to his corner to get a tag on his partner, The Undertaker. Undertaker came in and both he and Kane hit a Double Suplex on Cage. ‘Taker pulled Cage up and started striking the Instant Classic with elbows and punches. ‘Taker then threw Cage off the ropes and went for a Jumping Closeline, but Cage ducked and Undertaker recovered so Cage took him down with a DDT (half of the fans start to cheer for Cage, the other half for Undertaker). Both men finally got to their feet and exchanged fists in the ring until ‘Taker went for a Big Boot and Cage ducked and tagged in his partner, the World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton.
Orton came in and just went at ‘Taker with lefts and rights and then threw the Deadman off the rope and then connected with a perfect Dropkick, but ‘Taker was still on his feet so Orton hit a Back Breaker on the Undertaker. Orton then wanted to finish the match fast so he went for his Punt, but “Taker moved out of the way and got up. Orton turned around and got hit with a Chokeslam from Undertaker and both men were down. After a while, The Undertaker sat up and looked at the champion. ‘Taker grabbed him by the throat and went for another Chokeslam but Orton elbowed his way out of it. Orton then went for the RKO, but ‘Taker threw him off and then hit a Big Boot. After that, Undertaker went and tagged in his brother, Kane. Kane waited for Orton to get up and then hit his own Big Boot. Kane then motioned that he was going for the Chokeslam and he did go for it, but Orton reversed it in mid air and hit the RKO out of desperation (the crowd was on their feet chanting *RKO*).
Orton and Kane lay in the ring not moving. Orton edged his way to his corner and finally tagged in Christian (the fans exploded). Christian took down Kane with a Closeline, but Kane got back up. Cage it another one for good measure. After that Christian Dropkicked Undertaker off the apron. Kane went to Closeline Cage, but Cage ducked and hit a DDT. Christian then went to the top rope for the Frog Splash, but Kane caught him before he could connect with it by the throat. Kane went for the Chokeslam again, but Christian slipped behind him and hit the Unprettier for the win.
WINNERS: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION RANDY ORTON AND CHRISTIAN CAGE[/u]
Cole: What a mainevent! What a great match we just saw, Tazz!
Tazz: These fans are going nuts for Cage, and it is well deserved, the guy pulled out everything and defeated the Brothers of Destruction, with some help for the World Champ of course.
Cole: So many great spots in that match that we would love to go by, but were out of time. Thanks for joining us here tonight in Charlotte, NC and we hope to see you again at Night of Champions this Sunday, for Tazz, I’m Michael Cole, thanks for watching.
