there may have been an actual ark that was built by this noah character, but seriously, how can anyone believe in such an assinine story? it's just so far fetched to even consider in the first place.

What was the purpose of this post? I suppose to carry on in some form the evergoing religion war in the lounge. And I don't see how you could believe in one thing in the Bible and not the rest or the other. If it's all inspired by him, and you believe in him, wouldn't that be calling him a liar?

But educated people know that the Bible wasn't inspired by God or any such. The books were voted on, the stories and the mores they were supposed to be examples of were planned and written. I don't see why we even argue about this. Not that I am trying to insult anyone who is religious. But to take the Bible verbatim is a bit of a stretch.

It's jus the fact that the Bible says that all scripture is by inspiration of God. So if you believe in God, how could you not believe what the Bible says after reading that? There's such a thing as being too educated, which I think is the so called Bible experts' case most of the time. Most "Bible Experts" are out to disprove the Bible or equate it to science and human understanding. If we are going to argue about this lets stop right now. If you're willing to discuss then we could.

How is it that you guys continue to disrespect people and what they believe in but when they appoach you with their religion or whatever you claim to feel disrespected. Just respect the fact that other people have their beliefs and quit being so friggin childish about it.

The thing is if he had enough wood to build an ark that housed every animal surely he could've just built a ladder to heaven and said the animals i want my free candy. I'm not insulted nor do I take it verbatim. There's such a thing as being too educated, which I think is the so called Bible experts' case most of the time. Most "Bible Experts" are out to disprove the Bible or equate it to science and human understanding. If we are going to argue about this lets stop right now. If you're willing to discuss then we could. The thing with the bible is it's not written by one person and even if it was there would be no guarentee anything was correct. Most of the bible is most likely hearsay and not one "factuous" account is taken from a primary source, the old a friend of a friend told me this sort of deal. There's also the high possibility that the writers were corrupted and skewed the truth to make it seem more interesting. The way I see it, it's reasonable to believe in God but you have to have faith whereas the bible kind of fabricates the faith for you. I think the bible is a classic example of why religion is considered a bad thing, too much dictation on what you should believe and not enough room to form your own beliefs without being tagged as part of a different religion.

Threads like these should not be allowed because of what they incite. For the record, I'll take my chances with God and His word. Everyone is free to believe or not as they so choose. Jesus never forced the gospel on anyone. He stated the truth & people either accepted or rejected it. Simple as that.
