man was I dissapointed.
it started off so well........the raptourous welcome at MSG during Survivor Series 2002........the big match atmos going into RR2003 then it all went horribly wrong.
it obvious to me now that Steiner was a friggin wreck.a lot of people say HHH could have done better with him at RR and NWO but I dont know.......(Id say HHHs real life attitude toward Steiner didnt help any)but I also I think the nerve damage in Steiners foot as well as both matches being booked to go too long didnt help.
plus Steiner vs HHH came after Benoit vs Angle at RR 2003........tough act to follow.
thoughts?

I've never really watched their Royal Rumble & No Way Out matches (Even though i have both events of DVD) so i'll watch them tonight and comment. Although these are the comments i have found:
"Triple H vs Scott Steiner for the world heavyweight championship was boring entirely because any match with Scott Steiner involved is usually rubbish and slow."
"This match is a total mess. With Steiner only using two moves and Triple H unable to carrying Steiner."
"I always respected Triple H for being able to sell a match, but even he has his work cut out with this match! Steiner was shown to be invincible in the pre-match build up to make the match more appealing, but it turned out to be perhaps the worst title match EVER! Triple H spends most of this rolling around in agony as Steiner delivers his single move, the belly to belly suplex, again and again (please let me know if you spot another). Even the interference of Ric Flair can't save this as Steiner takes the WWE to new lows. The worst thing is, this is not a short match and you will find yourself screaming at the screen for mercy!"

steiner should've retired after his final wcw run.
i've said it before; how much sense does it make that steiner couldn't even handle taking one of his own suplexes?

The problem is that they tried to make Scott Steiner a face when he first came... And he's a real-life heel.

Benoit/Angle match should of been after that. That was an Amazing match.

Triple H wasn't exactly at the top of his game, either, and he wasn't at the point where he could carry horrible wrestlers to a watchable match. It was a horrible feud that provided horrible, horrible matches, with Steiner blowing up 2 minutes in and almost breaking Triple H's neck with awful overhead belly-to-bellys.

It was a horrible feud that provided horrible, horrible matches, with Steiner blowing up 2 minutes in and almost breaking Triple H's neck with awful overhead belly-to-bellys. yeah people forget that after he came back from his quad injury triple h was really brutal for a while, and it coincideded with the time he was recieved the biggest push of anyone I can remember. He was handed the World Title and RAW completely revolved around his every move, but he sucked ass in the ring. That's where the huge backlash against him started. He managed a couple of decent matches from January 02-onward, but a good amount were just slow, plodding, and dull. some of that could be put on guys like Steiner, but he also had programs with motivated guys like RVD or Booker T. Plus he was the one putting himself in big matches with his friends like Undertaker and Kevin Nash, which were all eye sores. It wasn't until WrestleMania XX with the help of Shawn and Benoit that he finally snapped out of it, and since then he's been a legitimately good wrestler again.

To sit back and retroactively fantasy book it:
The build-up was corny as hell, but kinda worked for what it was. However, I'd have put their match at the Rumble on before Angle-Benoit, and had it be a really short match where Steiner looked like an unstoppable monster and Flair got involved for a cheap DQ or something. Fans would've been pissed, but then Steiner could've hit Flair with a big move or something, and Angle-Benoit would've more than made up for it.
Anyway, at No Way Out I'd have booked them in a big gimmicky brawl match, which HHH wins.
Then in the run-up to WM, after Orton and Batista got injured, I'd have Steiner turn heel on Booker and Goldust. So Steiner-Goldust would be the lowercard feud sort of supporting the main HHH-Booker feud.

Angle-Benoit came after HHH-Steiner, but yeah that match wasn't that good. Steiner wasn't 100%. Steiner was great in WCW-Big Poppa Pump in the nWo and at the end of WCW was one of the best things about WCW. I didn't mind their No Way Out match as much though.

The problem is that they tried to make Scott Steiner a face when he first came... And he's a real-life heel. This is so true. The only time he ever worked as a face was when he teamed with Rick back in the day and when he came back from that injury in Puerto Rico, but other than that he isn't a good face.
