Eric Bischoff Shoots Hard On TNA Wrestling By Matt Boone on June 20, 2007 at 3:27 PM EST
Eric said on the World Wrestling Insanity radio show that he gets many questions on his website about TNA. Many fans want to know if they're the next WCW or if he'll ever go to work for them. Here is what he had to say:
"They have not done anything yet and I don’t even know any of those people except maybe Jeff Jarrett and a handful of talent working there. I don't know anyone behind the (scenes). I don't know Dixie Carter. If she showed up in my driveway, I wouldn't recognize her. I don't know anyone over there. I don't know who's doing what. I really don't care. So it's nothing personal here. I'd like to see them succeed…But the truth is, from what I've seen of their product, no one there really gets it. They're a small independent company that's been getting a 1.0 rating for the last five years. ..They keep trying to pull rabbits out of their hat with talent. 'Oh we're gonna bring in Sting and that's gonna turn the business around! ' Well, they brought in Sting, who's obviously a great talent, and guess what? Nothing happened. And then 'We're gonna bring in Christian Cage. It's a big surprise. He's hot in WWE and we got him and it's gonna turn things around.' Guess what? Nothing happened. Then 'We're gonna bring in Kurt Angle and he's the real deal. Things are gonna turn around!' Guess what? Nothing happened. Nothing's ever gonna happen until they get it."

If two wrestlers can put on an entertaining match, I don't care how much sides the ring has. And most wrestling fans will agree.

Well imo they can preform better when theres not a ing turnbuckle everywhere they look. I also belive tna have good ring technicians such as angle and sting, so something is wrong why there isnt good matches.

Sacrifice: Chris Harris vs. James Storm iMPACT: Chris Harris vs. James Storm Two very recent matches that were ***+. ... Also, Christian Cage vs. Samoa Joe from Destination X is (in my opinion) the wrestling MOTY so far. In addition, the attire Sacrifice PPV had more ***+ matches then both Wrestlemania and Backlash according to Dave Meltzer, so TNA fan or not, saying they don't have good matches is a load of shit.

The six-sided ring is pretty dumb. Same goes for their stupid "gimmick" reverse matches.

And most wrestling fans will agree. no they wouldnt. they would prefer a 4 sided ring because thats the traditional style that they are more then likely used to. the 6 sided ring is idiotic and pointless.

What I said in the WWE board
He is basically stating that the success of TNA has barely even been affective to their ratings, which is the truth. They expected to be on WWEs level of success when they brought in these guys, and it just didnt happen. Dont get me wrong, Angle is the number one example of what I want to be, but bringing him did nothing but make a couple of big matches and push TNA breed guys down the ladder. The reason WCW got so big were Sting,Flair, Steamboat and Hogan because they were the biggest at the time, but times have changed. Sting is not the wrestler he used to be so its no surprise that he didnt have that big of an impact when he came. Cage wasn't bulit that well in WWE so his star power wasnt that great. I love to see him as champion and at the top, but TNA didnt really build him to main event status. They saw him as a guy from WWE so gave him automatic main event status. And Angle, as I mentioned, has put on great "dream" type matches, but he came into as a guy that was seen as someone that should taken awhile of to work out a ton of problems by his previous employer. I know he has been injury free since TNA, but coming into it a lot of people, including me, feared for his safety, and some still due. You cant make a big impact from just bringing in a couple of guys who have either ran their star power up or just playing started at the top in TNA when they were still midcard in WWE. If TNA were smart theyd hire someone like Bischoff or Heyman to help them build a successful company.
