According to Dave Meltzer's latest audio report, the show did 14,000 buys which is their lowest since their weekly PPV days.
An ouch to say the least.

TNA's buy rates aren't set in stone though - they're estimated.

I have always wanted to compare TNA buyrates to what ROH does.

I'm not saying that this news isn't true but I find it hard to believe. I especially find it hard to believe anything coming from Meltzer. That guy is wrong just as much as he is right.
I did some research and every account of PPV buy rates for TNA in 2008 states they were doing an average of around 28,000 buys per show. The only show no one had any kind of information on was Final Resolution. The previous months Turning Point show allegedly did 30,000 buys. I just don't think that the buys would fall that dramatically. Then again it was December and people were and are still losing their jobs and our economy is in the toilet. That can cause a dramatic effect on things. Especially something as insignificant as a wrestling pay per view.
All I know is by all accounts I can find TNA's PPV buy rate averages were up in 2008 from 2007. That information was even published by the Observer. Really we have to take any information like this with a grain of salt. With TNA being a privately held company there really is no way to know what kind of buys they are really doing.

Here is more on it from gerweck.net
TNA is going to have to re-evaluate their PPV business model. The current direction is to build up four “A” pay-per-views in 2009, and the remaining eights PPV shows will be treated as “B” shows. According to Dave Meltzer, TNA PPV numbers have taken a nose dive since September of last year. We don’t have final numbers, but the preliminary number for the January PPV is not good. Based on projections, TNA pay-per-view numbers could dip as low as 14,000 buys, which is mind blogging considering the talent roster they have.
Another mind blogging aspect is that TNA is at times drawing lower PPV buy numbers than shows they promoted while airing weekly television on the much less visible Fox Sports Net.
The morale is down, which was overt if anyone saw the Against All Odds PPV last weekend. Wrestlers appear to be going through the motions, which is not a good sign moving forward.

Average means that at estimations you have can have a high medium and then come back down. So if the average is 28,000 and you have some shows that have buy rates that are as high as 40,000 then yes you can have a show that does 14,000. I wouldn't be surprised if it was almost accurate as that show was just a throw away.

How about charging less for the "B" shows for starters. $20 for them and $30 for the "A" shows. If you are admitting your show is of lesser quality then how do you expect people to pay the same amount. I know the WWE charges all the same except mania, but they can because of the position they are in.

Yeah I could see them trying to sell a PPV for $20 and see if that ups the buyrates.

For the most part last year, I felt that the fed gave at least one reason to order every show in terms of what they charge. Their only really weak show last year was Survivor Series in my opinion.
