New AWA Legends! the Blackjacks, Mulligan and Lanza. I think the Iron Sheik's head for Lanza is spot-on. Stan "the Lariat" Hansen "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell The team that defeated the mighty Road Warriors for the AWA Tag titles, "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin and "Mr. Electricity" Steve (not William) Regal Bobo Brazil...I know, the sealer is too shiny. I'm workin' on it. "Playboy" Buddy Rose and "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers the old ones... Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. Mad Dog Vachon. Bruiser and Da Crusher. I like the way Crush's head turned out. Nick Bockwinkle. Easy breezy fixup/ custom/ whatever. Curt Hennig (AWA Champion Version). Right before he left for the WWF, Curt had a bit of a gut. I think the Ric Flair body works well. "Crusher" Ray Stevens. I tried about five different heads until I found one I really liked. Simple, but considering how hard I searched to get it right, I am happy with it. Baron Von Rachke (alternate costume version). I had a TTL style Kurt Angle laying around and decided to try something different. The Von Stiegers (70's team who wrestled in San Francisco) had the same style singlet, so I tried it out on the Baron. and the Gagnes, Verne and Greg. I have tried three different heads for Greg, still haven't found one I like.

Some of them are pretty good, but they are all a little sloppy, and the black paint is far too shiny, especially on facial hair, etc.

All of those are pretty good...some better than others. Some appear to have too much sealer...or maybe it's the flash/lighting. I like them all.

Yeah, some of the problem is sealer, some the paint. I need to buck up and start buying the Games Workshop paints or other quality stuff, but I'm too cheap. Recession and all....

awesome array of customs dude!! It's like a step back through time - all the parts choices are pretty much spot on - especially the nick bockwinkle - a very clever head choice!

All of these overall look pretty well done. My only complaint is the sloppiness of the paint. It looks like you are using Testors Enamel paint, if so that stuff will never dry, it remains sticky and sealer won't help it. If that is acrylic paint, I'm not sure what you are using. The sealer looks too shiny, go with a matte finish. There's nothing wrong with cheap acrylic paints such as Folk Art, Apple Barrel, or Delta Ceramcoat.

Those are great. Love the selection for the head on Greg Gagne. Lve it when people do these classic figs and you are very good at them. Great figures all around and hope you do some more soon.

The Bock is off on head choice to me. The Bruiser and Crusher arew dead on. The others look exceptional, but I do have to agree about the paint being too shiny

I'm new here and not the most sociable poster, but I have to chime in to add what an excellent fix-up that Curt Hening is. Looks great. Spot-on for 1987.
BTW, not that it matters, but Ray Stevens nickname was "The Crippler". Ray "The Crippler" Stevens.

these are some great ideas, and good head choices, but your painting is just awful. there are paint smudges all over the legs, you seem to have a lot of trouble staying within the lines, and on several, Greg Gagne for example, you can clearly see the original paint color on the tights. Take your time, use good paint, try and keep your hands steady. You have some potential, keep at it and you can realize that potential.

Heenan and Bockwinkle are nice and clean. A good tip to remove excess and undesired paint smudges is to use a q-tip dipped in paint thinner.
Bobo Brazil is like, the absence of color, black. Start over on him. There is not a human being that is that dark. Jakks has a talent for making African Americans incredibly darker than they actually are (i.e. Orlando Jordan).
I like the sculpted hair. Very nice.
