I really like the interviewer. Good charisma.
The Mattel guy seems very business like. I very much doubt fan friendlyness with this line. And I do not like the idea of "sculpts".

I'll wait for pics to see if I'm into this line. I love the DC Universe line but I might just switch to that and collect TNA figs instead

It definately sounds promising, until I see any protos though I can't possibly think about whether I'll collect them or not. They'll definately be better than Jakks as a company but if the way they approach the figures is too different I'll have to pass on collecting them. All the "accuracy" talk makes me think they will make them realistic style so that should match our Jakks collections, so if they go for the same scale for the average figure and use coloured plastics instead of paint then I'll probably be in. I like the idea of more or even character specific articulation, that's like proper figures LOL. The only reason Jakks put the same POA on every figure was out of cheapness (so that all the parts could mix and match to make less work than making new figures) so I'd quite happily mix in figures with more articulation if that was the only big difference. I spose it all comes down to whether Mattel want to guarantee themselves a ready made fanbase (in which case they'll make them compatible) in which case there may be a few figures like Cena that would not sell so well unless the Mattel one was noticably better than the old Jakks one. Or if they want to gamble with a new style and hope it's good enough to make everyone start a new collection. Kids will buy them either way but the real money is in the collector community so hopefully they'll try to keep us collecting.

I'l say this. If mattel is planning on doing detail and character specific figures, ie, not re using parts...look for a total of 10 figures per year. An industry like wrestling that is constantly changing cannot stand up with a toy compnay that tries to make each figure specific as possible. just ask Jakks about the R3 line. Yeah, the first series was great but after that there was no way they could keep up with the demand. IF mattel has already started production, which they say they have then there's a chance but god forbid someone goes through a character change BINGO!

"Attention to detail & Scale", WOW!
Sounds good, I'm still on the fence about this line until I see pics. I just wish Jakks would have lived by that motto!

Why else do you think they constantly re-release and repaint Batista/Cena/Rey/Kane etc. etc., while the Classics, Divas and mid-card wrestlers are being way under-produced so that they don't shelfwarm? It's because collectors make up a small fraction of Jakks' profit. It's all those Cena and Rey figures on pegs at retail that bring in the big bucks.

It's one of those "wait and see" things for me. It's way too early for anybody to say whether they will collect Mattel's WWE figs or not. I'm impressed with the Jan 1st launch tho.

Wheres talk of their TNA line ? What TNA line? Mattel never had, nor do they have, the TNA line. Marvel produced them first, and Jakks will be producing them soon.

They say they want to release figs on Jan 1st. I wonder how long until there is a ring for sale.
And I wonder what quality the ring will be?

Here is hoping they can do everything this guy said. The figs I have in my mind from what he was saying would be sweet. ;D
