Hey, new things. First off, 3 DA style MMA figures done for an order. Besides the little I read about them on Wikipedia, I really don't know much about these guys...  "The Iceman" Chuck Liddell  "The Pitbull" Andrei Arlovski  Royce Gracie ... and now my more traditional Indy fare... Where in the world did you find good enough pics to do Mantis' tattoos?!?! Ive been looking for some for a long time, just appreciate how great they are. Great work as always. I just frantically scour Lyle C. Williams' live CHIKARA event galleries for good shots. I've found a good number of decent photos. -CMD |

I really like the Liddell and Arlovski despite some flaws..the Royce really bugs me..I know that is your style and everything but I would prefer the gi to look loose fitting and have some wrinkles...but whatever..
good job.

Chuck and Arlovski are both well executed. Logos look great and the head choices both stand out. Overall great figures.
Royce just doesn't look right at all to me. The head doesn't look like him to me. The upper body Gi is very tight and should be much looser, especially since the upper body looks smaller than the lower body, and typically when wearing a gi, your upper body looks much bigger. Nice job overall on Royce.
I really like the Mantis and the Canada's Most Professional, they both have very clean paint jobs and seem to work well.

I'm liking the MMA customs. There is something off about Arlovski's eyes to me, but that is very minor. I can definitely see a young Royce in your head choice. I have to agree with the others on the gi top, however. I understand you had the articulation to contend with on that one though. My favorite is probably Chuck. The head choice is great, but it looks like he doesn't have any eyebrows. Chuck's eybrows are very subtle, but they do exist. Overall great job and Dream is a lucky dude to own them. Wish I could comment on the other guys, but I haven't the slightest as to who they are. They all look cool and clean though.

Well I go to alot of Indy events within Ontario and I've seen 2.0 wrestler a few times. They worked some matches against Jimmy and Colin Olsen. Colin Olsen is better known these days as Colin Delaney
2.0 do most of their work for the IWS which is based in Montreal. Thats a little far to go to see them but they are a great tag team. When I saw them they were IWS Tag Team Champions
So any figures that are made of Candian indy guys is cool

Wow, these are really nice. I especially like the MMA customs. I get what others are saying about Royce, but I think it looks really good (plus, it looks like some of the wrinkles in the gi are getting washed out by the flash). As I was scrolling down, I could tell who the guys were as soon as I saw their heads, which to me is a mark that you nailed them.
The indy guys look great as well, but its the MMA fighters that got me excited.

Chuck's feet look a tiny bit odd, but the head is brilliant. Big fan of the Arlovski as well. It's nice to see some customs of people I know from you. I have always been fond of the look of your indie workers, but to be honest I almost never know who they are. I am way out of touch with the indie scene these days.

I don't know much about UFC, but Liddell and Pitbull I've seen.
I really like Liddell. He's pretty much perfect. The only thing that I dislike is the lower legs and feet...they look awkward. Wow, the Animal scan works great for him!
Arlovski also looks amazing. Great head choice there too.
I don't know Gracie, but judging by ref photos you did a great job on him too. I think the head choice could've been better, but other than that good job.
Mantis is awesome! I'm a fan...you must be too. You've done well with all you've done of him.
Del Rey looks bit awkward. I think it's mainly the face...I really dislike it. Everything else is good...you did a goo job with the lower body. Sara has some voluptuous hips and you captured that well.
I can't seem to find any good reference pics for Jagged and Matthews. But from ones I did find you did great at picking the scans...both are perfect choices for them.
Really good job with Younger. Everything looks good...nice head choice there too.
Overall, another great batch from you, CMD. Your painting is always so clean and smooth. I think you still need to work on your sculpting skills though.

I agree that the lower legs on Liddell do look odd, but it was me just sorta working with what I had, and what I had at my disposal. and any glaring innacuracies on any of these are on account of my not knowing crapabout MMA. I'm a big fan of Mantis, I've actually made figures for him, and I have his old red/green tecnico tights on my wall as part of my collection of wrestling crap. I was a bit limited as to parts for Del Rey, so that explains the head. I actually incorporated male RA parts into the figure to capture the larger arms and legs. The recipient of the figure, one miss Sara Del Rey herself seems happy with it though. Part of the fault of the sculpting is probably my lack of patience.
