No, he's still TNA talent. I don't care what his gimmick his - he has not worked for WWE/WCW/ECW so he still counts as "TNA" talent. You can't change that with a gimmick.

Jay Lethal I believe could be a draw in the future. I really didn't see that from Dutt or Rave ever.

With the limited roster TNA has, there's no excuse that they cant find a way to better market there talent. It all comes down to what you as a company want to focus on and TNA obviously does not want to focus on making new stars but rather they'd rather be lazy and live off the efforts of past stars. If TNA actually did something with their tag division, Rock and rave would have a storyline. If TNA actually did something with the X division, Petey and Dutt woulda had a storyline. But why make that the focus of the company? WWE's not doing it so why should we? disagreements with contracts aside TNA can not afford to just drop talent like WWE does. TNA does not have an OVW type fed they can fall back on. Their influx of international wrestlers get treated with the same treatment there home grown talent does..."thanks for comin...see ya!" They have one showin which to make it work and signing stevie richards or 10 more divas aint gonna cut it.
Had TNA started with the premise that they were gonna build up "their stars" this company would be near if not on par ratings wise with WWE. Instead each time a former WWE talent came in it became more WWE guys gettin pushed, them teasin us with some homegrown championship runs, then pullin it away only to give it to us when we no longer give a crap.
I continue to watch TNA becasue i actually like the characters and the wrestling, but the storylines, as always has me scratchin my head every thursdy and left with that WCW "oh god, how embarassing" feeling again. Wait, who was in charge of booking at that time?

Look, I'm not saying that TNA doesn't use any homegrown guys, but none of them are stars. None of them are rubbing elbows with the other STARS (you know, the ones that draw money) and you for damn sure don't see any of the TNA guys beating these stars CLEAN.
The problem isn't that there are other STARS in TNA, the problem is TNA won't give any of their guys a major push. I'm sorry, but the MCMG and Jay Lethal are not getting a major push. A push, yes, but not a major push.
It's the same problem as WCW. Oh wait, no it's not. WCW used Sting, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page, Booker T, The Giant, and Scott Steiner. While these guys might have had short stints elsewhere, they mainly made their careers in WCW, except Sting and Flair (though the NWA stint, kinda became the WCW stint for them).
Even WCW had more homegrown stars, and Bischoff gets blasted harder than TNA does for pushing old talent instead of newer faces.

I guess you missed AJ beating Kurt clean.. I guess you missed Joe beating Kurt clean.. I guess you missed Joe beating Jarrett clean.. I guess you missed AJ being Jarrett clean.. I guess you missed Lethal being Angle clean..
See my point? "Young guys" have beaten the names clean more than once.

I believe I already gave TNA credit for them... Jay Lethal beat Kurt Angle and where is he now? Even if the older talent puts somebody over clean, TNA also has to push the guy. I mean, Lethal beat a TNA main eventer, so the logical thing to do was put him in a tag team right? I was a huge TNA fan up until a few months after Kurt debuted. They pushed Kurt to the very top in a very short amount. That bothered me. They took WWE's trash and made him the TNA god. Christian on the other hand didn't bother me because they got somebody who chose TNA over WWE.

SG, your list consists of 3 hoemgrown stars...two that show up more then once...one of which has been a TNA world champion in the last 2 years. SO what exactly was your point in posting that...what did you prove other then what's been already said...that TNA cant create their own stars, or deosnt want to. What TNA is turning into is a feeding pool for guys that have been in the business that just wanna chum around and live out their last days...and Jarret accomodates them. And to the comment you laffed at,,,I guess we'll never know...but I'd bet after 6 years if TNA had establsihed there guys first and had the WWE influx wrestlers actually put them over, you;d see much higher ratings, because what it woulda done is given TNA an identity, and their wrestlers credibility, without sacrificing the star power fromm the WWE guys. You'd have a balance...LEts say christina comes in...sure let him win the title then after a small reign have AJ win it...then a back and forth...Have Angle come in...feud with joe...JJoe wins the title off AJ...Kurt goes after Joe...etc etc....bla bla bla...my pint is...tease title reigns with the WWE/WCW gus first not the TNA guys...make getting the TNA titles a challenge for these guys comin in...not just handin it over to them. Again, had they stuck with that formula, by now they woulda been more competitive. Because like it or not, the fac that they are not doin that now, is what's keeping them down and causing the problem.
