Another thought, did it piss anyone else off that the Diva's weren't at least given some sort of role call? I spent most of the match trying to figure out who/where the 5 were that came back for the match. I still didn't get a good look at any of the faces of those girls. Also, Alicia Fox's elimination was awesome. The front flip out of the ring was pretty impressive. it sucks because the entire point of doing a battle royal like that is to give them their entrance so the fans can be like "oh yeah, i remember her!" and instead they were just all in the ring and it was hard to recognize anyone BESIDES santino. i spent most of the match trying to find and follow molly. At least Molly looked the same as before. Trying to find Sunny or any of the other girls was damn near impossible.

I have to say, J-Dav had some great posts in this thread tonight. The one where he said something about Baked Potatoes, I forget the rest of it, but anyway, it had me rolling.

I hate how they didn't even show Molly Holly's face. She took the time to dye her hair and go back into her 2000/2001 attire, and they didn't even pay attention, besides a comment by JR.

I'm in the minority here but I loved WrestleMania tonight. To me there wasn't too much bad as the crap was kept short and everything that I felt needed to deliever did. My only real gripe was the ending to Orton-HHH, it was so anti-climatic. If I have to rate this show I give it an 8.0 out of 10.

Very "odd" Mania.
I will admit, everyone I expected to go over (minus Cena) won, which was cool...BUT, I must admit, the only matches I enjoyed were Michaels/Taker (Match of the Decade), Edge/Cena/Show (Honestly, really good), Hardy/Hardy (Extreme), MITB (good), and Jericho/Legends. HHH/Orton was the most "odd" match ever. An RKO and Pedigree in the first minute? Ummmmmm

I think my heart sunk a little when Orton hit the RKO at the start of the match. I half expected them to shock everyone and end the match there and move on to Punk cashing in. If that had happened, I don't think I could've restrained myself from yelling "Are you ing kidding me!?"

I remember feeling pretty good after watching WM24, but this year was really mixed. I'm stuck with a memory of many dangerous high spots, many of which were botched, and other lackluster moments. And various matches/events could've been much better with just a little something extra (Rourke/Jericho standoff). The highlight for me was Ricky Steamboat's excellent performance. It's pretty bad when a retired, 56-year old man can perform more moves and looks about as well physically as one of the company's top stars (Edge).
MITB I loved the corny vintage WCW jacket Finlay wore. MVP or Benjamin were my predicted winners, and while I love CM Punk, I'm mixed on his second consecutive MITB win. Hopefully it'll turn into something worthwhile. In terms of spots, Kingston and Benjamin were quite creative, but you can bet someone will be seriously injured in a MITB match eventually. I thought Benjamin landed on his head after that ladder plunge, and he nearly powerbombed MVP onto his neck.
Kid Rock Later discovering that the Tag Team title unification took a backseat to this really burns me. Great talent pushed aside. And was Kid Rock lip syncing?
25 Diva Battle Royal Their cramped entrance caused them to start battling prematurely during the contest announcement, and I never saw most of the comeback divas (Sunny, Holly, etc). While wrestling comedy often sucks, I enjoy Santino dearly and chuckled at this event, but why the hell did Beth Phoenix, who he eliminated, just pout and watch him dance around? I was waiting for her to angrily intervene on her boyfriend, maybe kick his ass for disrespecting the (talented) divas (which this match did to begin with).
Jericho vs. Hall of Famers Piper wasn't good but decent enough, and Snuka simply didn't belong in the ring. Steamboat, however, looked and performed amazingly. I cheered with glee, as this display was easily a WM25 highlight.
However, Mickey Rourke's participation left me a little disappointed. The punch was okay, but that's it? With such buildup, he should've wailed on Jericho a bit and really excited the crowd.
Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy These guys weren't too bad. I didn't like how Jeff covered his face in paint, considering this is a personal brother vs. brother match and all that purple somewhat dehumanizes his face. The whisper in the wind chair shot, intense table spot, and final two spots really defined this, and I'm sure they'll continue the feud so Jeff can get revenge.
JBL (IC Champion) vs. Rey Mysterio This disappointed. The 3-move bout didn't feel deserved, and I'm a life-long Batman fan, but it's hard to respect Rey when he literally looks like a clown while defeating JBL like that. A sad match in my book.
Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker I'm mixed on this one. The long moments of fatigue and frequent finishers bridged into excess; although both tombstones were very creative. A couple crazy spots, namely 'Taker's suicide dive, defined this. I contemplated that he was really injured and wondered why a second referee couldn't take over when they do so often in other matches. But overall, a WM25 highlight.
Edge (World Champion) vs. Big Show vs. John Cena Although I find Edge annoying anymore, I figured either he or Cena would win. While not a great match, Big Show tied in the ropes for so long was somewhat funny. Cena's double FU (not a damn "Attitude Adjustment") was an impressive finish.
Triple H (WWE Champion) vs. Randy Orton As expected, the buildup to this was exceptional, but the match itself was nothing special and didn't merit the main event spot. Triple H always emphasizes on creating a great story but his actual in-ring skills never impressed me, and this feud is a perfect example of that. Triple H's victory was expected as was a humdrum match. Why not have an appearance by Vince and Shane to spruce interest, or make it a gimmick match? Not a good way to end the show.
Obvious botches: Unprettier off ladder Sunset flip powerbomb during MITB Diva Battle Royal starting prematurely during announcing Undertaker's tombstone countered into a DDT

I would also like to say that anybody who didn't enjoy wrestlemania would have liked it a lot more if they were posting in this thread. I laughed hard all through the night. j-dav's comment on the .gif i posted of teddy long getting run over from SD vs. RAW 06 was incredible. teddy long looked like rikishi selling a clothesline Someone nailed it on the head, when they said it looked like R-Truth spinning move (can't freaking remember the name ).

I'll just bore you guys with my thoughts on WrestleMania...
Money in the Bank Ladder Match I thought this was a really fun match. Maybe not better than last year's MITB, but it still had the required fun spots. Once again, Shelton Benjamin steals the match. I thought Kofi was lively too though and added something to the match. I was honestly pretty surprised about Punk winning, and thought the win may be better utilized with someone like MVP who are on the cusp of breaking out as a main event star. ***½
25 Diva Battle Royal The definition of piss break after I realized we weren't going to see isolated entrances or the spotlight on returning divas. Piss poor execution of what could have been a fun segment. *½
Chris Jericho vs. WWE Legends This match was entertaining for what it was. I had no interest in it sans a Jericho/Steamboat encounter, and that's exactly what I got. So I can't complain. Steamboat's still got it as well. It reinstates my view that they should have just had Jericho and Steamboat one-on-one in the first place. The post-match with Mickey Rourke was predictable and pretty drawn out. ***
Extreme Rules Match WWE dropped the ball with this one too. Lame weapons and really badly paced up until the final spots which were pretty cool and the match's only saving grace. **½
Intercontinental Championship Rey stepped up his level of douchebaggery a notch with his corny attire. Oh well, I guess we have our new SmackDown announcer. Thank god the match was short and sweet. **
Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker Absolutely phenomenal and what WrestleMania is all about. If every wrestler could put that extra ten percent into their performances like these guys do when the lights are on bright, we wouldn't be getting our fair share of crapmatches like we did last night. Amazing pace throughout, and the false finishes just proves that these guys truly are the greatest entertainers and showmen in the business. Quite possibly the greatest WrestleMania match I've ever seen, although I don't think it can surpass Rock/Austin as my favorite WrestleMania match. ****½
World Heavyweight Championship Sloppy and forgetful sans Cena's entrance. Not much else I can say about this. **½
WWE Championship Alas, the biggest abortion since Brock/Goldberg. A match that had amazing build-up and anticipated run-ins by both the McMahon family and Legacy turned out to be quite possibly the biggest fizzer in WrestleMania history. A match you would regard as passable on a weekly show considering the stars involved and what it could have been. *½
To touch on some other things, Kid Rock's performance dragged on far too long and I can't believe they bumped the Tag Unification match for it. Very poor planning by the WWE, advertising the Unification match for the main show only to realize they didn't have enough time the day of the event. You'd think they would be more organized for the biggest show of the year.
Also, I think the wrestlers' performances in general were very lackluster. It was as if they didn't realize it was the biggest show of the year. Triple H in particular seems the only one of the top rung main eventers that doesn't impress or lift his game when WrestleMania rolls around. Not a great quality to have in arguably your biggest star.
I've been wading off wrestling this past year, and this hasn't helped the cause of me continuing to watch. Although I must make it clear that I did thoroughly enjoy MITB, Jericho/Legends (Steamboat in particular) and Michaels/Undertaker.

I just watched it again and i must say it was slightly better than i first said it was. The world title matches were still the weaker parts of the card and the wwe title one did need to be more intense. It was an 'alright' ppv but not too much more and its a shame thats the case at WM, particularly the 25th.

just like i thought, another year, another load of crap. seriously? 1 good match, with two guys i have grown up with from the start, but whom are both in there 40's!! it may be fun for the kids, but for someone who has been watching nearly 20 years, its really not good enough. i only watch two wwe events a year,RR and WM,and i keep asking myself why i bother. how triple h keeps getting top wrestlemania gigs is beyond me,he cant cut it. IMO he has only had one good match at WM,and that was against the undertaker. you think they would have learned after the Y2j cluster . He relly needs to re-invent himself pronto. the main problem is not always the wrestling, its just there is just not one wrestler i honestly care about on that roster. some people here will know what iam talking about, esp the older guys. following your fav wrestler should be as fun as following your sports team. the only thing that keeps me happy is my 90's and 80's collection

I think WrestleMania was amazing UNTIL two final matches (Cena, Edge and Big Show. Also HHH and Orton)
Punk win MITB.... Again, how bored, IMO Shelton Benjamin should win.
Undertaker Vs Shawn Michaels, oh my god... Its AMAZING match, even amazing ending. I was proper mark out when Shawn Michaels kicked out after Undertaker tombstone piledriver him. That made him as third person to kick out from Tombstone Piledriver at WrestleMania, I believe. Kane, then Batista and now Shawn Michaels.

I don't get all the hate for Punk winning Money in the Bank. Sure, they did it last year but if you seriously take into consideration who was in the match, realistically the only other threat was Christian. MVP just won the US Championship and, as per some unofficial rule in the WWE, if you look strong going into the pay-per-view, you're not winning. Unless you are 6'4'', have great hair, and are married into the McMahon family. But I digress. Anyway, Shelton isn't a promo guy so Vince will never have faith in him to actually elevate him. Kane and Henry were out from the get-go. Ditto Finlay. That leaves Christian, Punk, and Kofi. Kofi obviously isn't ready and won't be for another year. Christian was the odds on favorite but you have to remember all of the 'Vince Hates Christian' posts from before Wrestlemania. If they're true, why then would the boss pencil in Christian for such a high-profile win on the biggest show of the year. It had to be Punk by default. Not that he doesn't deserve it. Hell, after the way the 'E' butchered his title run last year, they owe it to him to start fresh and give him a real, sustained run. Would it have been nice to see MVP or Shelton win? Yeah. But Punk made the most sense and after the last year, and the sizeable fan support and push he's received, he more than deserves it.
