I liked Rob Zombie's Halloween. I just wish he hadn't made Michael Myers such a sympathetic character.
He gave him the stereotypical broken home, abusive step-dad, whore of sister and stripper of a mom. In the Original Halloween the sister wasn't a whore and the parents were still together and by the looks of them weren't poor.
What makes Michael scary is the fact that you don't know why he's doing what he's doing. Not being able to rationalize something can make it scarier than it is. But in Rob Zombie's Halloween, you almost feel bad for him, and that's bad when you start rooting for the bad guy.
There shouldn't be scenes of Michael alone, I don't want to know what he's thinking, what he's planning, or what he does when he's off screen. In the original Halloween, he's hardly ever on camera, and when he is, it's always fast and in a dark setting so you don't get a good look at him. In Rob Zombie's movie you saw him alone, getting the mask, he killed that lady in a well lit living room and then the scene stayed with him walking around alone looking at the pictures.
Zombie just needs to make Michael a little more ruthless with a little less reason behind it and I think Halloween II could be very good.

Michael was really ruthless in the remake
He taped the guy to the chair and slit his neck and beat the living crapoutta the bully in the woods

BUT now that Zombie is free from the retraints of remaking a classic-I see HII being way more popular

I think people will still throw a hissy fit over H2. It's just the way people are.

It's just the way people are. your probably right man.but HII isnt held in the same regard as Halloween itself so I see some reactions being different. I know I will give HII way more time than I gave Zombies remake.as a Carpenter mark he was never gonna please me

The fact that H2 is now Zombie's full fledged Halloween movie, where no strings are attached and the title will be the only similarity to the original, makes me believe that H2 will win over more people. I thought he did great with the remake and I have tons of faith that he'll do even better with H2.
