Bit of a random question, just curious, was there ever a reason given as to why the RAW announcers were repositioned from ringside to up by the side of the ramp in 2002? I've been putting my old wrestling VHS' to DVD recently and it reminded me that I never came across a reason, if there even was one. The only time I really recall JR or King making reference to it was the night it was first put into place, a couple of weeks after Eric Bischoff was brought in as GM, and King was just like "Bischoff's been making alot of changes already, he's had us repositioned up here for one", but not even a kayfabe reason was given as to why. So yeah, was it just to make more room at ringside or something, or was there more to it than that?  |

Probably to emulate Nitro, as Bischoff had become GM.

I think it was to give both RAW and Smackdown a different feel. also it made more sense for PPV's than having 3 announce tables(Including the spanish announce table) at ringside.

yh it was basically done to show how bischoff was trying to "revolutionise" Raw by bringing the announce table up to the entranceway like he did in nitro - I for one am very happy that the announce position is back in its rightful place!

It was cause Bischoff had the Nitro announcers out of the way. It takes less focus off of the actual match. The thing is, I like it better that way. If you watch old classic footage, most of the time the announcers were back around the curtains and out of the camera angle
