Have always wondered this: Why did the WWF split up The Hartfoundation for the 1989 Survivor Series?
And why did WWF stick Bret Hart in the worst team possible with Garvin, Hercules and Duggan?
If a split-up was needed Anvil would have fitted in that better as none of those three had real wrestling skills.

I'm not sure, but wasn't this WWF's first attempt at giving Bret & Jim singles runs? I thought I read that somewhere, but obviously it was very short lived.
I remember the fans going nuts when Bret squared of with Savage at Survivor Series 1989 as I bet a singles match between those two at the time would have been great.

I think it may have been as around this time Bret Hrat often wrestled Perfect in single matches too, but why give Bret Hart these brawlers as partners?

I always found it odd Bret was paired with those other 3. My guess would be based on two things: 1) Bret and Savage had maybe faced each other recently and maybe Vince could spark people's interest slightly. 2) Due to Bret's popularity and skills, Jim was placed on the Warrior's team to keep the crowd behind Warrior and to make him look stronger. I think Bret kind of shined or at least stood out (in a good way) on Duggan's team. Logically, Jim should have been placed with the brawlers and Bret with the Warrior's team.

alot of interesting theories here - however I strongly feel Bret would have outshone warrior on his team - which wouldn't have boded well for Vince who wanted warrior to be the next hogan for the WWF
