Shamrock briefly feuded with Jeff Jarrett before beginning a rivalry with martial artist Steve Blackman that saw he and Blackman fight one another in a series of unorthodox matches. The feud ended at SummerSlam 1999, where Shamrock defeated Blackman in a " Lion's Den match". He went on to feud with the newly debuted Chris Jericho until departing the WWF in late 1999 in order to resume his mixed martial arts career. His departure was attributed to an injury inflicted by Jericho's bodyguard, Mr. Hughes. Please don't bring that crap up

For those that remember, the LAST time he was seen in the WWE was on one of the early episodes of Smackdown where he lost a First Blood match to Jericho. He's never been seen since.

Let's also not forget Shamrock's other flaws. He was known for calling his matches right in plain view of the camera, had to be carried pretty constantly by better wrestlers, and he couldn't cut a promo. It was absolutely unthinkable that during the Austin era, Shamrock would even touch the belt. How do you market a guy like him? Nowadays, if Shamrock came along he probably would have ended up with one of the three World Titles, just because that type of wrestling is actually OVER now. People are into the submission stuff, and a character like his, especially with the MMA stuff, would be a godsend for WWE right now. But, as someone else said, Shammy was ahead of his time. The whole "tapping out" thing? Thank Ken for that. Nobody did that **** until he came to the WWF. Absolutely; the whole 'tapping out' in pro wrestling has to be attributed to him, because before that I don't think I recall anyone actually tapping out, the ref would just end the match, saying the guy had submit...
