As the title says:
I remember Steve Blackman running him down, then having a feud with Y2J, I mean that must of been his last couple of months right??
What & When was his last match/moment?

Shamrock briefly feuded with Jeff Jarrett before beginning a rivalry with martial artist Steve Blackman that saw he and Blackman fight one another in a series of unorthodox matches. The feud ended at SummerSlam 1999, where Shamrock defeated Blackman in a "Lion's Den match". He went on to feud with the newly debuted Chris Jericho until departing the WWF in late 1999 in order to resume his mixed martial arts career. His departure was attributed to an injury inflicted by Jericho's bodyguard, Mr. Hughes.

Here is another guy that should have been WWF Champion. He could have easily held the belt for at least a few months in like 1998 right after Bret left. But he was caught in the middle of the Stone Cold push so yeah. Then he got dicked around and placed in the Corporation and crap. That's about the time people didn't care about him.
So I can understand why he left.

Shamrock was never a world title caliber type guy. His run was about the best he could do. The only thing that could have been better is if he stayed around a little longer

He was pretty over in 1997. They built him up pretty well going over Bret Hart and stuff. Looking back I still think he could have held the belt briefly. But like I said, he was caught in Austin's big run and just got thrown around.
If he could actually cut a promo he would have probably came off better. Perhaps a manager or something would have been good for him.

I think Shamrock could've held the strap for a bit and made a decent run.

There was never a time when Shamrock was anywhere near the best choice for a good run as world champion. After Bret left, Michaels was the champion leading into the Austin era. He could pass the torch in a way that fellow new champ Shamrock (who also wasn't that great a wrestler, remember) couldn't. Then Austin, Taker, Kane, Rock and Foley were all much more viable titleholders.
Shamrock tends to be thought highly of because Angle and Benoit made the submission stuff more popular. But he never had many great matches at all.

I would have loved Shamrock to get a run with the WWF title. He was one of my favourites back in the day.

I wish he would come back to wrestling, he's healthy enough to do that still. Although I doubt Vince would want anything to do with him since he got busted for teh roidz.
Shamrock making Cena tap to the ankle lock would be the moment of the decade

Most people I knew liked him back in the day and I thought he was decent. You're right though. He never really had any true "classics". He also never had noteworthy feuds that could take him to the next level. Went over Bret, fought with Shawn for the belt. He was really over and for that alone is why I think he could've been champ. I'll say it again, he got screwed around a lot later in his career and people really stopped caring about him. Especially when he went heel.

Shamrock has said repeatedly in interviews that the road schedule and wear & tear of being a pro wrestler was far harder on him than MMA. Whether that's true or not (and I don't doubt it), maybe his push fizzled out because people in the WWF could sense that he was losing interest in being there.
He did go back to MMA, after all... maybe he talked about it a lot before actually doing it. Just a thought.

mma was probably where his love was. wwf was a commodity and moneymaker to him
i did love his gimmick of being the absolute snapcase, and it was sweet at wrestlemania 14 when he took out all those referees

Let's also not forget Shamrock's other flaws. He was known for calling his matches right in plain view of the camera, had to be carried pretty constantly by better wrestlers, and he couldn't cut a promo. It was absolutely unthinkable that during the Austin era, Shamrock would even touch the belt. How do you market a guy like him?
Nowadays, if Shamrock came along he probably would have ended up with one of the three World Titles, just because that type of wrestling is actually OVER now. People are into the submission stuff, and a character like his, especially with the MMA stuff, would be a godsend for WWE right now. But, as someone else said, Shammy was ahead of his time. The whole "tapping out" thing? Thank Ken for that. Nobody did that crap until he came to the WWF.

I enjoyed his style. It was a stiff in your face attitude meets submission and I thought it worked well. Shamrock was never that marketable, I remember his BCA being such shelf warmer.
