It may not belong here, but I don't post here often anyways.
So, yeah, when did Sonic the Hedgehog games begin to go downhill?
Everybody used to play his games then suddenly everybody's complaining.
I'd say Sonic Adventure 2 was the beginning, myself.

when the age of 16 bit was dying i'd say. as soon as 32x was made sonic was done for. he advanced into the 3D age primitively with sonic 3D which wasn't overly a success...and his games continued to go downhill.

After Sega stopped making consoles... just didn't feel like Sonic if it was on a different system.

Sonic Adventure 2 was the death of the Sonic Team franchise. There have been some good handheld Sonic games. Sonic Adventure was a great game, I never really understood the animosity that's risen for it lately. It was such a loved game, now it's nothing but "SONIC NEVER HAD A SINGLE GOOD 3D GAME!"

IMO the last good Sonic game, and one of my favorites is Sonic CD.

I never liked the original Sonic Adventure game. The second one I enjoyed though which is opposite for most. I just hated the freakin Knuckles levels.
So yeah it was around the time it went 3D that the games became bad for me. I don't even bother trying them anymore.

I think they first blew it when they didnt make a "real" Sonic game on the Saturn. People just started losing interest in Ol' Blue in the mid 90s. It didn't help that the Saturn failed, too. The Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure alike were too little, too late. While Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 were great games, they werent enough to save interest in Sonic. Then Heroes came out and it officially went down the crapper. Bringing Shadow back was also a cheap stunt because of his popularity, then they even had the nerve to give him his own game. Sonic died in 2001 with the end of Sega's consoles and Sonic Adventure 2.

Sonic Spin ball. That killed it for me. OMG I loved Sonic Spinball! I still play that, thanks to Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection recently coming out on the 360.

They are really mix and match more than dead with good games still coming out on DS, what they need to do is make a Sonic Adventure 3.

IMO the last good Sonic game, and one of my favorites is Sonic CD. You're not the only one. Too bad it wasn't ported over to the PlayStation 2 in North America.

For me, it was with the introduction of Shadow
He stole Knuckle's 'bad-ass-ness'

Sonic Unleashed was a great game to me. Also, Sonic being in Super Smash Bros. Brawl really helped him out.

sonic died when it went 3d, after the genesis it was just awful. I miss the cool 2D games such as Sonic, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man Classic/X.
