Agreed to a point, but Russell sure as hell wouldn't have been able to pull it off. Some credit has to go to Eli, like it or not. Everyone loves to talk about Tyree's catch (which was amazing) but it took an incredible effort by Eli to not get sacked on that very play.

I agree with this. It was luck, and the fact that the SB was on the line.

Luck or not, he got the job done. I don't see Tony Romo coming even close to making that play.

I remember Tony Romo looking like someone who never stepped on a football field at the end of the game when, as bad as they'd played, they still had a chance to win. Then he throws an INT in the end zone to seal the deal. That's Tony Romo. He's always gonna be a guy who has big numbers (probably not as much without TO) but he's never gonna win a thing. Perhaps you should do some more research and figure out the situation for that interception. It was 4th and 11 with 16 seconds left and no timeouts. It's not like he threw an INT on a pass that didn't need to be thrown. The Cowboys had no time left. He had to try to score. It didn't turn out well, but if you watch the play again, you'll quickly see that none of the receivers were open. Luck or not, he got the job done. I don't see Tony Romo coming even close to making that play. Romo is perhaps the best player in the NFL when it comes to avoiding sacks. He makes plays like that constantly.

Okay, so let's say that he is the best in that situation. What has it gotten him? Nothing. Not even a single playoff win. I'm sure someone will come in here and blame that on T.O., which is BS. Romo just isn't all that good. Here's a prediction. Dallas finishes no better than 3rd in their own division this year.

Romo is good on his feet, but I'll take a few other folks over Romo to avoid a sack. Start with Big Ben and Donovan McNabb.

Roethlisberger is among the absolute WORST in terms of not getting sacked. He holds onto the ball too long, doesn't move enough in the pocket (despite being able to run the ball fairly well), doesn't keep his eyes downfield when he DOES move, etc. Romo gets sacked about 1/2 as often as Roethlisberger. ... Don't take this as a bash against Roethlisberger, as he is one of my personal favorite players; but he's just not good at moving in the pocket.

I am blown away by the people who say he "lacks leadership" when I think that more appropriately describes Romo. Then, when you point something out, like the AMAZING effort it took for him to avoid being sacked in the Super Bowl, it's written off as luck. And if you want to talk about the team aspect of things, I will go back to what I said in my last post. Dallas finishes no better than third in their own division this season. Manning is better than Romo Giants are better than Cowboys One team is a Super Bowl contender and one team thinks they are Shall we continue?

The number of sacks isnt the tell all. You have to take into consideration offensive line, defenses they are playing, how many times they are blitzed. Romo might get sacked 1/2 the times Ben does. But I bet Ben has evaded more sacks.

Anyone recall the Pittsburgh game last year that went to OT? Yeah, I suppose I need to do some research to figure out what the hell Romo was thinking on that play.

Manning is better than Romo Giants are better than Cowboys One team is a Super Bowl contender and one team thinks they are Shall we continue? You say that you aren't talking about a 'team sport', yet you were just saying how Romo hasn't had a playoff win. That comes back to the team. So lets say, that Romo has a great game. Passes for 350 yards, 4 TD's, no interceptions. But his defense plays horribly and gives up 42 points. They lose 42-28 in the first round of the playoffs. But Manning wins the Super Bowl. However, his stats the whole time are 150 yards, 1 TD, and 3 interceptions. Does that make Manning better than Romo. Eli is a good QB, no arguments there. But when it comes down to the better player that is Tony Romo. The only reason he doesn't have a playoff win is because of the whole team playing bad. Manning had a great D and a great offense with him when he won the Super Bowl.

This is not about teams, as you so quickly pointed out in the Brady vs. Elway discussion when that was my argument. Then why the are you talking about "winning games?" One player doesn't win games. Then, when you point something out, like the AMAZING effort it took for him to avoid being sacked in the Super Bowl, it's written off as luck. And if you want to talk about the team aspect of things, I will go back to what I said in my last post. Dallas finishes no better than third in their own division this season. No, I didn't write it off as luck. Maybe other people did, but not me. He did a great job avoiding the sack... But that's only half of the play. You're missing the part where he threw up an absolutely f*cking horrible pass that his receiver had to make an all-time-great catch on. And I'm not even disagreeing about Dallas. I have them finishing 3rd in their division right now, too. See? I'm not a blind homer. Maybe you should try it out. Makes it a lot more fun to watch football when you don't have your head up your ass. Giants are better than Cowboys One team is a Super Bowl contender and one team thinks they are Shall we continue? I love how you claim it's "not about the team," yet that's what you continue to bring up. LoL. Ben can out muscle sacks and evade LBs. The number of sacks isnt the tell all. You have to take into consideration offensive line, defenses they are playing, how many times they are blitzed. Romo might get sacked 1/2 the times Ben does. But I bet Ben has evaded more sacks. With all due respect, the defenses in the NFC east are far better than those in the AFC North. I understand that Pittsburgh's offensive line isn't as good as Dallas', and I give Ben some breathing room because of that... But when it comes down to it, his snap-to-delivery speed is far lower than it should be. And again, I love Ben. That's just a flaw in his game. You're right, though, that he just pushes his way out of sacks sometimes. Gotta love that. He's not as elusive, though, which is what we were really talking about (with the Eli/Romo comparison). WTF? Roethlisberger is among the absolute WORST in terms of not getting sacked. He holds onto the ball too long, doesn't move enough in the pocket (despite being able to run the ball fairly well), doesn't keep his eyes downfield when he DOES move, etc. Romo gets sacked about 1/2 as often as Roethlisberger. ... Don't take this as a bash against Roethlisberger, as he is one of my personal favorite players; but he's just not good at moving in the pocket. Yeah, Romo is just awesome under pressure. Anyone recall the Pittsburgh game last year that went to OT? Yeah, I suppose I need to do some research to figure out what the hell Romo was thinking on that play. Every quarterback makes some bad throws in some key times... Is Tom Brady a bad QB because he threw poor passes on that final drive against the Giants in the Superbowl? No. You're confusing the two terms of "under pressure." 1) "Under Pressure" meaning that there is a defensive player about to hit the quarterback. 2) "Under Pressure" meaning a key point in game. Romo is GREAT when a defensive player is about to hit him... When it's a key point in a game, no, he hasn't proven that he's an elite QB yet. However, since he has come into the NFL, he has the best 4th quarter QB rating of any quarterback in the league... So obviously he has come up in the clutch more often than not. But don't let the media know that - they have fun placing the team's struggles on one player. Oh, you mean the way they already did, with Eli? Exactly. It doesn't take an amazing QB performance to win a game when your defense comes up huge against the best offense ever.

No, I'm not a blind homer about all things Broncos. In fact, with the offseason they've had, I have no problem admitting that they're a candidate to have the first pick in next year's draft. I really dread the upcoming season.
