At then end of the year (about end of November), me and my Girlfriend have decided to go travelling. We'll have both finished Uni and have saved up most of the money that we need to go. Were going for about 8-10 weeks, and the current plan is: UK -> Singapore -> Australia -> New Zealand -> Fiji -> Vancouver -> Los Angeles -> UK Has anyone been to any of these places before, and do you have hints on good places to visit? Or is there anywhere that you reckon would be good to visit that were not going to (not in Europe as weve been there lots before, or Mexico ) Any input is appreciated

Try and stop at New Zealend and Thailand from Australia. Everyone's going to Thailand at the moment it's meant to be an up and comming place. Maybe Mexico aswell?
Will be a great trip mate, I can't wait to do one of these one year.

Mexico and Thailand did appeal to me, but Im a bit cautious with swine flu in Mexico and the recent riots and state of emergency in Thailand. Guess we'll see how it pans out. Thanks for the input people

Fiji is lush, ive spent a few weeks lying in the water. So crisp and blue... crazy fish dotting around you feet. Thailand has been done to death. Its a trippy place (5 years ago) i went again last year and was dissapointed. Its worth a visit if you have never been, but if you have been, i'll pre warn that it has lost a lot of its charm and is more of a manufactured state (for us), if you get what im saying.
Dubai is a strange place, absoloutly beautiful (in the areas you alound to go as a tourist), if you wander from these areas, expect big problems. 70% of the place is twated with poverty, and you are warned to never tread in these areas. The wealthy sections are unreal. And yeah, its very expensive.
I know that only covers one of the places you mentioned, just thought id give my imput on all posts. Have fun

If you go to Australia, make sure you do a skydive and walk over the bridge that looks just like the tyne (you can go over the top of the arch), my cousin is there for a gap year and she sent a video of it, some guy actually sits on the wing to film you.

I was being told that Australia is very expensive. So I suggest that you should bring lots of money if your stopped at Australia.

im in vancouver at the moment and i must say, its great. everything you really want to do is downtown- shops, standly park, cinama. you can get to Grouse mountin on the sea train and then the bus, and go ski/snowboarding.

Booked this bad boy up yesterday. Its taken ages to iron out the details, which is the main reason I havent been on much lately. We leave on the 28th Novemeber and get back on the 13th of February. Reckon its going to be awesome, but have some serious saving to do to get the last couple of thousand. The plan now is: UK -> Thailand -> Singapore -> Australia -> New Zealand -> Fiji -> L.A. -> Miami -> UK In Australia were going to Ayrs Rock, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairnes and Sydney for new year. Definately wanna go to Steve Irwins zoo tbh . I cant wait, but will be pretty weird being away from everything I know for 11 weeks!

Sounds great man I did a trip 4 years ago but we just travelled round the USA, one bit of advice I would give is to try and get 2 credit cards to take with you make sure that they can be used all over the world. Its better to have them and not use them than get in trouble and not to have them. As well it will give you extra cash I spent a extra £300 on my card and while it took me a wee while to pay back I don't regret it for a second,
I went with 2 buddies and my highlight was Boston (more than LA and New York) I loved that city even if I did end up lost at like 1.30 am down town and couldn't remember the name of my hotel but thats another story lol
