Trish and Rick in attendence sounds great along with Alexisonfire who I've never heard perfrom I'll prob check them out when I get time, good to see Corino doing well as for some reason I don't like the Thompson character he hasn't been memerable, I thought Jason would lose but good to see the fans liking him, I'm amazed at Devin winning, I thought Stone might win but happy to see Dragon advance, either man in the next match could have advanced kinda glad that LyNN did as I know where Bock is ending up, good to see Ace advance i had a little worry that Matt might be the ultimate underdog and get the win, Hart advancing is great hopefully setting up for a clash with Bennett, not sure about the same team facing off but Hammers advaancing is great. I see Ace/Hart in the 3rd with Hammers/LyNN, I'm expecting Hammers to go over but I can't call the Ace/Hart feud, good luck and keep this up

I love this duaner. It is still my favorite diary going on the board right now. Glad that Curtis, Red Dragon, and Ace all advanced. Sucks about Jason, but I was expecting that. Glad you did put a few seed upsets through. I could see Hammers winning this whole thing. Actually, I could see pretty much anyone who advanced winning the whole thing. Keep it up man.

- Rick Martel and Trish Stratus at ringside is nice. - I was saddened to see Duan Sanchez Jr. lose as he is a fellow stable mate. - I wasn’t surprised I jobbed out, but I wasn’t pleased :[ - Chris Hammers defeating Trace Demon was shocking

Jesus Christ. I was totally no expecting Devin Curtis to beat Duan Sanchez Jr. Surprise. But that was a great match, and the post-match celebration was great. Glad Pagano won, and no surprise Bennet picked up the win as well. The second round is shaping up to be awesome, Hart versus Curtis should be intense. Hopefully Curtis pulls out another upset. Anyway, great show, and I can't wait for the next one. Should be magnificient.

NATIONAL WRESTLING LEAGUE PRESENTS: BEST OF THE BEST 2009; NIGHT #2 Alberta, Canada 10/05/09 - 8:00 PM Attendance: 4,000 (sell-out)
We see clips from last night's Round One show on our new jumbo-tron and then we go live into the event center for Night 2 of the Best of the Best Tournament! Alexisonfire plays "Accidents" from their 3rd studio release, "Watch Out!" as the crowd goes wild! I am certainly enjoying AoF and they sound awesome! As always, I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa and tonight, we will see the second round of the Best of the Best tournament, a total of four matches and we will also see a bonus match featuring Tim Smith of Boston facing off with Ken Anderson of Las Vegas. We are once again joined by the CEO of the National Wrestling League, Jeff Gomez, who announces that in tonight's attendance is Ivan Koloff, The Russian Bear, & actor Jay Baruchel, from movies such as Knocked Up, Million Dollar Baby, & FanBoys! Gomez thanks them for being here tonight and tells the crowd that it is time to start the show!
vs. Second Round Match; 25 Minute Time Limit Match #1; (#3) Red Dragon [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. (#11) Chris Hammers [Las Vegas Blitz] - After 23:54 of action, Chris Hammers was able to open up the night with a huge upset over his opponent, Red Dragon and it stunned the crowd! Hammers put away the number three seed following the Bloodrush followed by a pinfall. Crowd wanted to see Hammers win and were ecstatic when he got the three count. What a way to start off the night ladies and gentleman!
vs. Second Round Match; 25 Minute Time Limit Match #2; (#1) Ace Bennett [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. (#9) Steve Corino [Boston Brawlers] - After 17:12 of action, in one of the greatest technical matches of my day, the Calgary born Corino fell short to the hottest man in the NWL, Ace Bennett, following a Syracuse Drop. Crowd was around ninety percent behind Corino, but it was Ace who dazzled the crowd by the end of the match. Ace looks to have a better head on his shoulders and his ring work seems to be back to normal. Amazing match here!
- Afterward, to the crowd's pleasure, Corino & Bennett shared a handshake and Corino raised Bennett's hand. Bennett seemed very grateful and he seems to be back to his lovable self!
vs. Match #3; Tim Smith [Boston Brawlers] vs. Ken Anderson [Las Vegas Blitz] - After 16:17 of action, in the only non-tournament match of the evening, Tim Smith helped Boston continue their surge into the playoffs following a huge STO delivered to the reeling Ken Anderson. Anderson has been off as of late and Smith, well, Smith has been catching his old fire as of late. The crowd was way behind Smith and they were pleased to see him get the victory!
- Intermission -
- An official announcement for the 2010 Draft was made. The draft will be held sometime in late January!
- Alexisonfire covered "You're The Best", the Joe Esposito song, but did it metal style. Crowd was really digging it!
vs. Second Round Match; 25 Minute Time Limit Match #4; (#4) LyNN [Chicago Warriors] vs. (#5) Evan Pagano [New York Crush] - After 22:18 of action, the Texan wrestling for Chicago, LyNN, was able to advance to the 3rd round of the BotB, following a Springboard Tornado DDT. The crowd was very evenly split between Pagano & LyNN and the match seemed to be electrified as these two were wrestling circles tonight. Very fast paced and it kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. This was probably one of the best matches of the year; excellent job from these two tonight!
vs. Second Round Match; 25 Minute Time Limit Match #5; (#2) Kevin Hart [New York Crush] vs. (#10) Devin Curtis [Los Angeles Most Wanted] - After 23:28 of action, the Canadian crowd got behind their very own, Kevin Hart and popped loud when they saw Devin Curtis submit in the middle of the ring to the sharpshooter. Curtis put up a great deal of offense in this match and Hart had trouble taking him down. Curtis could've ended the match a few times, but Hart was very persistent to not give up and to win the match. Curtis had no choice to tap out at the end of the match, great stuff!
- Following the bell, Hart & Curtis shared a handshake and a hug. Tons of respect for these guys!
- JOIN US IN TWO DAYS FOR THE CONCLUSION OF THE TOURNAMENT & MORE GREAT NWL ACTION!

I'm loving the BOTB, not sure about Alexisonfire perfoming all 3 nights seems unrealistic rather have 3 seperate bands, I knew Hammers would win hes been dominant since comming back from the Minors, glad to see Bennett win it was pretty obvious, rather have some tag action to split up the singles but the match will do still don't know why Smith wasn't entered hes a captain! LyNN is doing great, strange main event not to sound cocky but couldn't Dragon Hammers go last, anyway I like the way your slowly buiding Devin, as said before I don't know how to call the next round I want to see Ace/Hart in the finals but I'm thinking Ace will fall and the match will have to wait, keep this up and good luck

This continues to go great. Now its down to my three favorites and Hammers, who is the underdog. I wouldn't surprised to see any of the four remaining win, but I'm still rooting for a Hart/Bennett finals. Ace must be bipolar or something. Can't wait to read the next show.

-I love Jay Baruchel -Excellent opener and a huge shocker, but I'm glad to see it happen -Interesting to have Bennett back to his good ways, I'm glad to see it though -It really seems like Ken Anderson never wins in this -Dammit, a NY loss Oh well, LyNN is fantastic from what I've read -Woo! Main event spot! And another huge victory for me! Great match Again, I'm smelling Bennett/Hart in the finals, but it could be held off for a later date. Fantastic stuff still.

Damn, I lost to Kevin Hart, but that was an amazing match, and I liked how you made Curtis look good against one of the best guys in NWL. I see Bennet and Hart in the finals, tbh. The rest of the show was good. Can't wait for the finals!

Bennett and Corino seemed like a good match, I have always loved Steve Corino. Me having a possible MOTY is always good, lol. New York winning in the main event is awesome, man.

NATIONAL WRESTLING LEAGUE PRESENTS: BEST OF THE BEST 2009; NIGHT #3 Alberta, Canada 10/07/09 - 8:00 PM Attendance: 4,000 (sell-out)
The jumbo tron displays highlights from the past two night of the tournament, which include the likes of the final four competitors; Ace Bennett, Kevin Hart, LyNN, & Chris Hammers. We then go to Alexisonfire, who are playing their third consecutive night. They open up the evening with "Boiled Frogs", off their "Crisis" album! Crowd seemingly likes them more each night and there is a ton to like about this band! Hello all and welcome to the final evening of the 'Best of the Best' tournament, I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa and tonight, we will find out who really is the 'Best of the Best' in the NWL! We have two third round matches to go through and then the finals! Also on the menu tonight is Trace Demon facing off with Duan Sanchez Jr. and Assassin/Brian Thompson of Chicago taking on Cameron Stone & Tim Smith of Boston! Jeff Gomez, CEO of the NWL, joins us on the entrance way and tells the crowd that we have 3 special guest tonight. First off, actor Norm MacDonald is in attendance and the crowd cheers. Then, Jeff Gomez introduces wrestling legends Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and Bret "Hitman" Hart, who are sitting in the front row! Hart & Neidhart stand and the crowd of 4,000 goes absolutely nuts. Bret Hart grabs a microphone and tells the crowd that we should start the action! What a stellar moment here!
vs. Third Round Match - 30 Minute Time Limit Match #1; (#2) Kevin Hart [New York Crush] vs. (#11) Chris Hammers [Las Vegas Blitz] - After 23:54 of action, Kevin Hart gave the Canadian fans something to cheer about, after he made the underdog, Chris Hammers, submit after a minute of fighting off the Sharpshooter. Oh my, this match was absolutely insane and you could barely hear yourself think as the crowd was majorly hot. A ton of Hammers' fans were in the crowd tonight and it was interesting to see a split crowd in Hart's home territory. The match action was split just as much as the crowd was and the ending saw Hammers barely give in to the Sharpshooter. Excellent match!
- Afterward, Kevin Hart celebrated in the ring and rolled out of it to see his idol, Bret Hart, in person. Kevin told Bret that he has admired him all of his life and has tried to model his career after Bret's. Bret told him that he has something definitely and something else I couldn't hear. They shook hands and the crowd began electric. Even Chris Hammers, from the middle of the ring, was on his feet for this moment. Kevin Hart appeared to be in tears!
vs. Match #2; Assassin & Brian Thompson [Chicago Warriors] vs. Tim Smith & Cameron Stone [Boston Brawlers] - After 15:21 of action, the hot team from Boston got the victory following a STO delivered from Tim Smith to Brian Thompson. The Brawlers pretty much dominated the entire match and Assassin barely saw the ring since Smith & Stone kept Thompson isolated from his corner. Crowd was happy to see Boston get the victory in a pretty decent match!
vs. Third Round Match - 30 Minute Time Limit Match #3; (#1) Ace Bennett [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. (#4) LyNN [Chicago Warriors] - After 27:53 of action, the dream match has come true following the outcome of this one, as Ace Bennett has moved on to face Kevin Hart in the finals, following a Super Powerbomb from the top and pinfall onto LyNN. Holy Moly this match was intense. Neither man really wanted to quit and can you blame them? They really put on a clinic and I would have to say that this is the match of the tournament thus far. Such excellent action had the crowd hung up the ENTIRE time, right from the opening bell. The crowd gave this match a standing ovation following the three count.
- Intermission -
- After the official called for the intermission, the crowd once again cheered the match before. Excellent action!
- You can meet Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart after the show, as they will be signing autographs at the merchandise table, starting now! The signing will have a brief intermission for the final match though.
- Alexisonfire played their last song of the night and tournament. They closed with "Rough Hands", also from their "Crisis" album!
vs. Match #4; Trace Demon [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Duan Sanchez Jr. [Tri-State Evolution] - After 23:40 of action, in a match worthy of being in the tournament, Duan Sanchez Jr. brought home a win for the Evolution, who hasn't been in action for an event, following a SGM and pinfall. Demon sure did put up a fight, but it was Sanchez Jr. who looked like a champ out there and he put him down with a very quick SGM. The crowd was basically split in half and cheered once Sanchez got the victory! Some excellent action, but it is time for the finals!
vs. Best of the Best Finals - NO Time Limit Match #5; (#1) Ace Bennett [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. (#2) Kevin Hart [New York Crush] - After 43:31 of action, in the longest and best match in NWL history, the two men lived up to the greatest match of the year title this match was given and the crowd was absolutely stunned. It took over forty minutes, but the man with the best record for the whole year, Ace Bennett, put away the second seed, Kevin Hart, following a Syracuse Drop, the third one of the match. Bennett was able to battle out of the Sharpshooter at the thirty minute mark and it took three Syracuse Drops, through-out the match, to put down Hart. The crowd was absolutely stunned with the match and it is safe to say that this is the match of the year. Absolutely brilliant. Ace Bennett is the BEST of the BEST!
- Following the bell, Bennett fell to his knees as confetti came pouring down from the ceiling. Bennett started to cry as an official handed him the Best of the Best trophy, which is pretty large in person. Kevin Hart extended his hand and Ace didn't accept it. Instead, Ace hugged Hart and then Hart raised Ace's hand. A standing ovation for the Best of the Best, ladies and gentleman!
- We return to our natural routine three days from now in Boston! I hope you have enjoyed your stay in Canada! What a few days it has been! Goodnight folks!

ACE BENNETT: TRULY BEST OF THE BEST Article Written By: Jimmy Pietrafesa Alberta, Canada; October 7th, 2009
It was definitely an eventful past four days here in Canada, but the Best of the Best tournament has finally come to a close, with the man who has held the number one spot in the NWL all year, coming out on top. Many might have predicted that Ace Bennett of the Los Angeles Most Wanted would've won before the tournament even began, but this was a different story. The odds seemed stacked against Ace lately and he had to face the man who he has had a grudge with for a few weeks now, Kevin Hart, in a grueling forty minute match to earn the title of Best of the Best. Kevin Hart, being a native of Canadian, gave Ace a run for his money, but Ace was able to get the victory following his third Syracuse Drop of the match. People cannot forget that Ace Bennett also had to face LyNN, the streaking star out of Chicago, who has been on fire as of late. Kevin Hart beat out Chris Hammers earlier in the night to gain the right to advance to the finals.
I wish all of you viewers could have been here for this scene because it was electric. I haven't seen a better wrestling match yet in the National Wrestling League and I advise everyone to pick up the DVD from all three of these shows, as they have some of the best matches I've ever seen. One match that also stands out from this week is definitely Kevin Hart facing off against Devin Curtis in the main event of the second night, October 5th. Curtis, who had defeated Duan Sanchez Jr. the night before, almost put away Hart for good in the tournament, but Hart somehow succeeded and these two really put on a wrestling clinic. I feel as this tournament has done a ton of good for the NWL and no bad at all. Don't think this is the end of the line for the 2009 season, as there is PLENTY of season to go, including the playoffs later in the year. After October, we start getting a feel of who will actually make the playoffs this year. Speaking of which, I have been informed that the Trade Deadline is set for Halloween night, October 31st. So if any team needs to make a move, I suggest starting to get on the horn now.
Now, back to the man who is truly the Best the NWL has to offer now. Ace Bennett, the Best of the Best 2009 winner, will be looking to add some more stats to his career and take his team, the Los Angeles Most Wanted, to the promise land and with only 24 events left to go, the season is more than sixty percent done. Will Ace, Devin Curtis, Red Dragon, & Jason Williams or Tom Diamond for that matter, be able to hold onto their lead in the Western Conference, or will we see Chicago or Las Vegas take the commanding lead? Will New York, the comeback team of the year, be able to make the playoffs and finish first in the Eastern Conference? There is actually only one way to find it.
TUNE IN FOR EVERY SHOW RESULTS FROM YOURS TRULY, JIMMY PIETRAFESA!

Woot! Best of the Best Winner! I didn't expect that but I'm very happy that Ace won. Glad it was against the two best guys in the semis and finals. Great that I put on the match of the year for NWL. The Hart/Bennett feud lived up to expectations. I'm listening to Alexisonfire now that you've mentioned them and they are pretty good, my kind of music. You know you have a loyal reader in me until you decide to end this.

Beating Hammers in the opener was great and the post match stuff with Bret was my favorite moment ever. Glad you included that. Ace winning and setting up our finals was great. Whoa, 43 minute match? Classic. Not too happy about me losing, but it was a great match and who better to lose to than Ace? Fantastic stuff Duaner, this is HOF for sure.

...PRESENTS: NWL LIVE! Boston, MA 10/10/09 - 1:00 PM Attendance: 3,563
Welcome back to the states everyone! What a start of the week it was for us, but now its time to get back to some action! With just two months left in the season, this is the time where things start getting very interesting and what a way to start, here in Boston! I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa and tonight, we come back to reality! Following his win of the BotB 2009, Ace Bennett looks to steal the thunder away from the hometown Brawlers here tonight! Let's see what happens folks!
- Before the show started, it was announced that the Las Vegas Blitz have recalled Kenny King and have sent down competitor Ken Anderson! King will be in action right now!
vs. Match #1; Matt Justice [Tri-State Evolution] vs. Kenny King [Las Vegas Blitz] - After 14:55 of action, Matt Justice started the night off right for the Evolution, following a Double Underhook Powerbomb onto King, who has returned tonight. King himself looked a tad off, but nothing to get worried about. Justice is looking greatly and its going to be interesting to see what happens when Sean Shafer returns 5 days from now!
vs. Match #2; LyNN & Brian Thompson [Chicago Warriors] vs. Evan Pagano & Kevin Hart [New York Crush] - After 21:34 of action, coming off losing in the finals of the Best of the Best 2009, Kevin Hart & Evan Pagano put away the Warrior team following The Calling from Pagano to Thompson. This match was jam-packed with action and these two teams seemed pretty upset following the events of the BotB! Pagano really looked on fire and was able to get the win for his team.
vs. Match #3; Cameron Stone [Boston Brawlers] vs. Devin Curtis [Los Angeles Most Wanted] - After 14:21 of action, rolling off his impressive outing earlier in the week, Devin Curtis silenced the home crowd after nailing a beautiful 450 Splash and getting the pinfall. Curtis seemed to be absolutely on fire tonight and he even got a few cheers from the Boston crowd. Definitely his most impressive performance yet in the NWL!
- Intermission -
- It was announced that the Canada shows earlier this week will be available in a 3 DVD set in just a few weeks! This will include every match from all 3 nights and some exclusive interviews! Look for more information on the next Roundup!
- 3 days from now, when we return for the second night in Boston, any students will get in for half price!
vs. Match #4; Mike Bockwinkel [New York Crush] vs. Kevin Shamrock [Tri-State Evolution] - After 10:32 of action, the match had to be stopped due to Mike Bockwinkel going absolutely nuts onto Kevin Shamrock, who ended up winning by disqualification. Bockwinkel wouldn't break a boston crab after Shamrock got to the ropes and when the referee called for the bell, Bockwinkel immediately attacked the official. Bockwinkel proceeded to take out a chair and he continually hit the official in the back around 6 times before he was restrained. Bockwinkel, who was in full pirate get-up, had to be escorted out of the arena and the referee had to be helped off in a stretcher.
- Intermission -
- We took a brief intermission to get things cleaned up before our main event!
vs. Match #5; Duan Sanchez Jr. [Tri-State Evolution] vs. Tim Smith [Boston Brawlers] - After 29:54 of action, in a match that ALMOST reached the 30 minute time limit, Tim Smith continued his roll and put away Sanchez following a big STO and the three count. This match was definitely good on paper, but wasn't the best executed. It was a bit sloppy in spots, but still the best of the night. Smith continued his impressive streak as of late and Sanchez couldn't bring another win to the Evolution!
- We return to Boston 3 days from now, on the 13th and that is also the next time we see you folks! Take it easy everyone!
