I havent read DC consistantly for many years. I have picked a few hard cover graphics of Green Lantern after Hal Jordan returned. Outside of that......not so much. But I picked up #0 for Blackest Night on Free Comic book day and it was fantastic! We're talking like 10 pages of reading and I was so hooked. Hal Jordan and Barry Allen at the grave of Bruce Wayne. That page itself was fantastic.
I will be the first to tell you I dont really understand what is going on with this story. But I did pickup TPBs of The Sinestro Corp wars today to try and catch up and also started my subscription for Green Lantern. But this series looks monumental.

I enjoyed it. I was pleased that they explained how Bruce didn't want a funeral, and I'm looking forward to the next issue.

But this new blacknight series really got me interested. Just read the Orange Lantern comic the otherday. i guess thats the beginning of the rise of that new corps. Really enjoy how they have the different corps as well. thats why i want to get some of the figs, especially blackhand. too bad the articulation is aweful. But yea, i got some catchin up to do. the guardians are pretty cool.

You should read Green Lantern: Rebirth too. Rebirth, Sinestro Corps Wars, and Blackest Night are a big trilogy.

Sinestro Corps Wars is a MUST READ to understand Blackest Night. Sure you could read Wikipedia or whatever for the story. But its not the same.

I haven't kept up as much, but I do think the fact that there is an entire spectrum of power rings is pretty nifty.

Blackest Night 1 has set the bar very high for whats to come from Geoff Johns and co., i've been anticipating this issue since January and it did not disappoint, Ivan Reis' artwork was amazing as i feel he is a very underrated talent, and the writing and pacing was superb, if you have any interest whatsoever in Blackest Night i suggest you pick it up.

Really enjoying this series so far and I can't wait to see where it goes. I also loved in the Tales of the Corps comic that they are giving little stories of people who are in these different corps (This issue was Hope, Fear, Compassion and a little of Willpower) and kinda explaining each one so I can't wait to see more explanations of them especially Compassion.

If you say 43.....I'll saqy you are right. I am terrible with numbers. But yes, The Prologue. Blackest Night is gonna be one of those comics that is gonna sell out at your comic store and they will have to go 5th printings.

Dammit, I missed the issue! Gotta get to the comic store tomorrow. CM, is it necessary to read GL43/46? before BN or just a suggestion?

I doubt that...events typically get printed in massive numbers. Utopia is gone and they are onto 2nd printing of it. Let me rectify...self contained events typically get printed in massive numbers. I like to think that there is a difference between a crossover and an event. And if I'm not mistaken... ::Checks his own copies for confirmation:: ...only chapter 1 of Utopia was self contained, not falling under the numbering of another on-going title.
