the entire thing was planned out for shock value. USA network was said to be furious though.

Austin on the rampage was awesome, especially him trying to drown Pillman's friend in the kiddy pool.

There used to be a three-part video on YouTube that showed the raw footage from the filming at Pillman's house, including stuff the cameras filmed when the broadcast wasn't showing them, Bruce Pritchard giving Brian & Melanie Pillman directions on what to do next, Brian giving suggestions, and all of them joking after the final scene was filmed.
Not sure if it's still up, but I remember it being very fascinating to watch the whole process taking place, as they planned/filmed one of Raw's most famous angles.

I never saw the ones Johnny Lawrence is talking about, but the whole thing worked, as it got people talking.
And in the case of The USA Network, furious people talking.

I remember watching this and going ape crapwhen Pillman pulled out the gun. Does anyone know who released that raw footage? I just saw it for the first time a few days ago, and never knew it existed.

I never saw the ones Johnny Lawrence is talking about, but the whole thing worked, as it got people talking. It got people talking, but I wouldn't particularly say it "worked" in terms of increasing revenue. It never went anywhere, never built up a match or anything. Did it even increase ratings?
