I just got done watching a match with Rock "n" Roll Express take on The Russians, Ivan Koloff and Krusher Kurcshov for the then coveted NWA tag team titles, the Rock "n" Roll Express went over in the match and the crowd went absolutly nuts, faces came from the dressing room to celebrate, it was a match to remember, the crowd popped all the time, everytime the r'n'r express got there comeback the crowd wents nuts, i wish that wrestling was like it was back in the day today, today it alomost means nothing to win a title, but now in those days it meant the world, my theory is the older it is the better!!!!!!

Amen. I still have older NWA matches on VHS tapes. The pop the crowds would do just for the R&R Express was overwhelming. I miss the smokey atmosphere, the snapping ring ropes & the classic wrestling. They didn't have elaborate pyro or "in your face" camera angles. And I liked it like that. The only thing I can compare it to is the WCCW crowd when the Von Erichs would enter the arena.

Amen here too.
The grittiness, the desire in their eyes and the fact that so many people back in the day loved and appreciated what they did will never be forgotten by me.
Great workers back then, and the fans responded in kind...Miss those days, most definitely.

Sorry to bump. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Before there was WCW, there was Jim Crockett Promotions. Based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, JCP dominated the Mid Atlantic wrestling scene and was a showcase for dozens of legendary stars over the span of more than 50 years - from Johnny Weaver and Wahoo McDaniel to the Horsemen and the Road Warriors. The History of WWE.com is proud to announce a new addition to the website - set to debut in July - which will focus on the in-ring action from the Crockett era. According to webmaster and editor Graham Cawthon, expanding the site to include JCP came as a natural progression. "Taking on a new territory is not an easy task," Cawthon said. "It's time consuming enough to provide in-depth results for the most recent week of WWE programming. But, having lived in the Carolinas for the better part of four years, the timing is finally right to focus on the Mid Atlantic territory. And since so many wrestling fans associate July 4th with the Great American Bash, launching it next month seemed the perfect choice." The JCP addition will focus on all the in-ring action of the territory dating back to 1983, the year of the initial Starrcade. NWA World Title defenses in other territories will also be documented in detail as part of the project. For Cawthon, the project is designed to do for JCP what has already been done for WWE, WCW, and ECW: become a hub for casual fans and historians alike and keep wrestling history alive. "I can't tell you how much help I've had researching shows and ring results over the past seven years," he said. "It's all been greatly appreciated and I'll gladly take all the help I can get on this latest project." Look for the JCP addition at www.TheHistoryofWWE.com over the July 4th weekend. About The History of WWE: The History of WWE.com was created in February 2002 with the intent of documenting in detail all the in-ring action of the WWE dating back to its inception in 1963. Over the years, the website has grown to include WCW and ECW results, thousands of newspaper clippings and promotional advertisements, match listings for WWE home videos and DVD releases, a thriving message board, title histories, audio interviews, columns, and reviews. The website has attracted praise from wrestling journalists ("An amazing and excellent resource that I use almost daily to double check facts." - Mike Johnson, PWInsider.com), book authors ("Invaluable" - Michael Krugman, Andre the Giant: A Legendary Life), and wrestlers themselves ("We love your site." - Jimmy "Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant).
