You know how many people on this board actually watched ECW when it was on? Probably 4
You know how stupid it was watching ECW on TNN? Very, it was pure shit, you think TNA is bad..guess again.
ECW's stars only got popular is cause the other places, such as WWE and WcW knew how to use them. No one cared about them, the matches went on FAR to long. it was crap.
Putting focus on Paul Heyman though, he knew how to present what he wanted and keep his vision going. It wasn't the right vision, but he gets a lot of credit for shaking up the buisness Paul was annoying as hell when he replaced King (wasn't it because King/Kat divorced?) I thought his voice was annoying, but when it came to managing Brock Lesnar, it made perfect sense. He was great.

Paul Heyman was a creative genius. And despite what the censors said, despite what all the parental groups said...Paul Heyman had the BALLS to do what was right for the business and right for the FANS. Unlike Vince McMahon who gives us the kind of show HE wants to see. Couldn't say it any better. I truly believe that Heyman is the most genius wrestling mind ever, including Vince McMahon. He knows exactly what most people want to see.

By the TNN days the company was effectively on it's last legs. 94-98 was the company's heyday. ECW guys did not get popular just by WWE/WCW. Rob Van Dam became a ing star right off the bat because he got huge pops because everyone knew him from ECW.

His only downfall was finances, his mind is unlike no other and can really cater to a crowd, even if that crowd is a bit mature Exactly what I was going to say. The only knock on Paul E. is that he shouldn't be in charge of finances. He's tremendous at everything else. I gotta agree with this too. Yes, he mismanaged ECW, yes he was financially all over and f-cked up alot with that end ... but the creative side of him was pure genius. He truly enjoys doing innovative things in the ring and he definitely caters to "real" hardcore wrestling fans and knows how to book and create situations and matches are fresh and on the edge. He should ATLEAST be doing some major booking right now.

Paul Heyman Deserves every bit of praise he gets. Hell if he was better with his finances, I think ECW still might be around today(Not that WWE crap).

what makes paul a true wrestling genius is the fact that he let the FANS decide what they wanted. if it went over he ran with it. if it bombed out it was soon gone. he let the wrestlers develop their own characters. completely unlike vince mcmahon, who claims HE knows what the fans want. who scripts a wrestlers every word. and thats exactly why most of us feel wwe sucks rite now. i would even put eric bischoff before mcmahon. while wcw was doing the nWo thing, wwf was still in the "new generation" phase. vince basically took what eric was doing and turned it up to 11. he later saw what a huge cult following ecw had and took alot of their ideas as well.

It's a shame his business brain isn't as prolific as his creative mind.

Heyman is great. Original ECW is overrated though. A thing that the majority likes is not being overrated
