What about Dan Marino vs. Peyton Manning?
Manning actually won a Super Bowl, and has the gaudy stats that Marino did.
Just curious about what people think.

In Marino's defense, he never had the ridiculous receivers Manning did. Duper and Clayton were both good players, but I don't think either of them are on par with Harrison or Wayne.

Montana, Brady, Manning, Marino, Elway, Favre, Young, Kelly, Bradshaw
I could see any agreement if someone chose one of those QBs. Outside of that I dont think they're the best of all time. I might be missing someone these are just the ones that came off the top of my head

Best QB of all-time discussion and Elway has only been mentioned once? Give me a break. John Elway in my opinion is the greatest QB to ever play the game. Yes, I'm a homer and a huge Broncos fan, but he's up there with all of them. The only case I would accept as a valid argument right now is Joe Montana against Elway. Elway was WAY better than Favre or Aikman and had the wins Marino didn't.
Here's the top 5 all-time in my opinion.
5. Peyton Manning 4. Tom Brady 3. Dan Marino 2. Joe Montana 1. John Elway
Honorable mention for guys like Favre and Steve Young. Here's another guy that gets lost in the shuffle....... Jim Kelly.

Johnny Unitas was married to that whore? Johnny Unitas and his career QB rating of 78.2. To compare, last year, Kyle Orton's QB rating was 79.6. Seneca Wallace's was 87.0. JaMarcus Russell's was 77.1. Brett Favre's was 81.0. Ryan Fitzpatrick's was 70.0. Philip Rivers' was 105.5. You can't compare ratings between QBs that played in the '50s and are playing now. The rules in the passing game have changed too much.

You can't compare ratings between QBs that played in the '50s and are playing now. The rules in the passing game have changed too much. I would agree, but even guys like Otto Graham (who played in the 40's and 50's), Roger Staubach (70's), Len Dawson (50's-70's), and Sonny Jurgensen (50's-70's) had QB ratings in the 80's. When it comes down to it, I think it's completely preposterous to put anyone who hasn't played in the past 10-15 years in a "best ever" discussion. If the question was, "Who dominated their era the most?," then I could see players like Unitas being mentioned. But the best players ever are playing right now. Period. Johnny Unitas wouldn't make an NFL roster right now, let alone be one of the better QB's in the league. The game has just changed so much, athletes are so much better conditioned, and the (literal) science behind the game has made things completely different. As I've said before, the 2007 Miami Dolphins (1-15) would have demolished the 1972 Miami Dolphins (14-0).

I love when people bring up that he "won a Superbowl," when the fact remains that Elway didn't win a Superbowl until the Broncos took the pressure off of him and went to a power running game. Without Terrell Davis, Mike Shanahan, and that offensive line; John Elway's career is exactly like Dan Marino's, except Marino was better in every single category. I don't understand how you can have Elway ahead of Tom Brady. It's just ridiculous to me. Please, tell me what he has done that Brady hasn't done.

When talking about best ever you're taking in to account the era they played in and how they dominated it. I just don't think it's fair to hold it against someone cause they played in say, the '60s.

Well, given that other players I mentioned played in the same era and were as good or better than Unitas; I stand by my statement that he has no business being anyone's No. 1 ever.

Well, he was drafted to play in Major League baseball. That's something Brady isn't even capable of doing. I mean, if you want to bring up systems, NO ONE is a product of the system they run more than Brady. That's why it's hard to even have this discussion, there are too many "what ifs". I like Elway because I feel he was the most versatile QB. If it's an Elway-Brady discussion you want to have, I think if you put them in the EXACT SAME system, with the exact same weapons, Elway outperforms him all day long...... easily.

Because he was a good baseball player means hes a better QB? Seriously? That might be the WORST logic ever used on this board.

Brady is better than Elway, by far. Not to mention, Elways is a tremendous prick.

Tom Brady threw for FIFTY TOUCHDOWN PASSES in 2007. Matt Cassel then threw for only 21 touchdowns the very next season with the same supporting cast and the same 'system'. Awful logic. The fact that you called Tom Brady a 'system quarterback' shows that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
