Watching the Macho Man DVD, I've realized that Jesse Ventura is just one of the greatest announcers ever. Simply amazing heel commentary. His teaming with Monsoon was just fantastic.
Anyone else agree?

Jesse was awesome, I thought. In fact, on SNME or Superstars of Wrestling he made Vince McMahon more bearable. Anytime Vince said something cheesy or contrived (which was often), you could usually count on Ventura to call him out on it, or to make a better case for the heel side of the argument.
One thing Ventura was really good at was calling out the babyface for behaving like a heel, but getting praised/cheered for it. He did this to Hogan all the time, and when he did it at the end of Survivor Series 87 (after Hogan lost, but came back, cleaned house, and posed for fans as if he'd won), it was the first time I actually stopped and thought "you know, Jesse has a good point... if a heel did this, everyone would be angry about it."

I think he was the absolute best.
Better than anyone, his quips on Hulk Hogan especially-- "LUST Hogan! He wants Elizabeth, GORRRRILLLA!"

My favorite Ventura moment was at Summerslam '89. When Rude/Warrior were on the outside brawling, Warrior hit Rude with the belt. Schiavone(sp?) said it was okay because "it wasn't in the ring" and Jesse replied with "So it's okay if Warrior pulled out a gun, as long as it is'nt in the ring?" and Schiavone could'nt come up with a come-back.

Lol, he hated Warrior. I was watching a match between Warrior and Rude recently, and Jesse tore him apart. "Oh, he would throw him outside the ring, because the Ultimate Warrior can't wrestle inside of the ring!".

ventura and monsoon are absolute gold together. Ventura imo is the best heel announcer of all time (including bobby the brain). I wish wwe would have a heel announcer now, back in the 90's I thought Lawler was a great heel announcer

My best friend and I always joke about those lines! Ventura - "What are you saying Schiavone, he SHOOT the guy outside the ring? As long as its outside the ring?!" And yes Ventura has always been my favorite heel announcer. Hell, he is my favorite announcer of all time. He and Monsoon are my favorite commentary team ever. I know a lot of people will say Heenan and Monsoon. They were great, but after you listen to Bobby for so long, you can see a lot of the lines he recycles over and over. Ventura always seem to keep things real and legit.

Ventura and Monsoon are my favorite announce team of all time. I was 4-5 years old watching WWF and their voices captivated me. I loved King and JR and Vince and King but Jesse The Body and Gorilla were amazing, as was Monsoon and Bobby The Brain Heenan.

He will always be my favourite heel announcer; he did it like it came so naturally to him, and it just worked so well...

you could tell he legitimately hated hogan with a passion, which made him a perfect heel announcer for that time.
