Who else completely loves the direction of Amazing Spider-Man right now? American Son has been quite a story, and after reading #598, this five part mini-series has hit an all time high. Great art, plotting, and writing are making this title really strong. I can't wait for #600.

This current run has been one of the few high, high points since the reorganization. What Marvel should do if they want to give this book some real thunder is take a look at the team they've got revolving now, keep the key players (IMO, Joe Kelly, Dan Slott, Marc Guggenheim), drop some of the dead weight, and really press forward with these stories that have not only made for great reads, but still helped the overall story along.

i'm only at 597 now, but it is a great story thus far. i like how things have changed and how relevant past stories are - especially that of menace and harry's child - are now coming full circle and we have different relationships and problems that are actually interesting. such as harry having a child, his battles with accepting his father, his siding with him, peter's anger at it etc. the only thing i don't find amusing is that aunt may's soon-to-be husband is actually a stepfather of J.J. like, what are the real chances of that? way too quirky of a move, even for a spidey book.

^ your entire first paragraph would be different if you posted after reading 598.
