Tag Team Match

I have decided to become more active on the customs board mainly because I am in awe at the amazing work/masterpieces that all of you create with spare parts, paint, clay, and so on. Enough of my brown nosing. Let's get to the reviews

Let me start by saying that this is a great custom. I am a big fan of these stationary/posed figures and this one came out great. A lot of time when people sculpt, the figure can look chunky, but this figure came out extremely smooth. The tattoo work is nothing short of magnificent and the skin tone is a great touch. I can tell that you put a lot of effort into this figure and it definitely shows. Amazing job sir




This Raven does not disappoint either. While the face seems a bit chubby, the likeness of this figure is great. I love the choice of positioning and attire. The ripped shorts were painted very nicely and the design on the t-shirt is awesome as well. It is obvious that your sculpting abilities are very advanced and you displayed them so well with this custom. Great job

I am absolutely in love with this figure! The painting is so smooth and the sculpting you did on the boots is really great. I am aware that there are not a lot of scans for African American wrestlers and whatever scan you used, worked perfectly. The chain, hat, and coat really top this figure off. It looks just like the reference pic, so two thumbs up for likeness and detail. Overall great figure. Amazing job to you sir



Yet again another great figure. Even though the lips and cheeks seem to protrude a bit, it does not take away from the figure but adds a bit to the realism. The tights are simply stunning, and the painting is so smooth and accurate. This is truly an amazing job. I love almost everything about this custom. Another great example of clean painting, great sculpting, and realism. Good job

Great showing from all parties. All of the figures went beyond my expectations. It's funny that while I was making my Ernest Miller, the thought popped in my head that Gate and Famous J just might be making him, and I was glad to see you didn't, haha.

Winner - Sandy and Deen


Deen - The pose is great, the likeness is perfect. You nailed the arm pits and arms which is what everybody complains about on posed figures. The kilt looks kind of odd, maybe too many wrinkles. Other than that the figure looks perfect.

Sandy - The head is iffy for me. Some ways it looks just like Raven, others it doesn't look like him at all. I love the hair, captures his really curly look. With the exception of the face, the sculpting is next to perfect. I would have liked to have seen the pose sit up a bit more, but all in all works great. The painting is splendid and I do not see any flaws there as well.

Gate - At first glance the figure looked great. When you look at the individual details, the figure came out pretty bad. First: The skintone is completely off, especially to the ref pic. It almost looks like the hands and the head have different skintones as well. The face in my opinion looks more like the BCA head, that to me didn't even look like him to begin with. I see where you were going with him, and you almost captured his head, but not quite. The boots are a hard thing to do, but you made them look awkward. The upper part of the boots should be a bit smoother and fan out from the legs and not look like ultra thick knee pads. The lower part of the boots just looks chunky, though I see what effect you were going for. The painting looks chunky in places as well. Although overall you did a good job, it is still the weakest figure of the bunch.

Famous J - The face modding looks good. Still slightly off, though I know his head is very unique and hard to capture. Great job on the head, and the hair looks perfect. The rest of the sculpting looks perfect as well. The painting appears to be flawless. Great job, and best version of Scorpio we've seen thus far on the board.

I really wish people would stop using RA figures for posed customs. The shoulder joints, especially from behind, will NEVER be realistic if people continue to do so.

This was about the level of talent that i expected to see in this match, congrats to all on a valiant effort.


Deen: I can't say enough about the level you've risen to. This is a near perfect representation of Raven. I would've liked to see a bit more modding in the shoulder/armpits areas. Painting and sculpting is top notch. A great display piece.

Sandy: This is a prime example of a bad head choice killing a figure. Everything else about this works, the pose, the hair the t-shirt. But then the face kills it. It looks like Chris Masters dressed like Raven, with a broken nose. I can't see any resemblance there.

Gate: I think this one also suffers from head choice issues. I can see the resemblance, but its not close enough for me. There's a reason i've never done a Flash Funk, the guy has an oddly shaped head, he just doesn't look like any of the available heads. The rest of the figure however is the normal high quality sculpting and paint work you produce. It's a very professional looking piece.

famousj: I commend you for going all out here and trying such a difficult likeness to capture on the head sculpt. You almost got it too, it's the closest approximation of funk i've ever seen. This overall is a well crafted, excellent figure. Great work.

Winner: Gate/famousj

This was actually a hard one. They were all good figures, but in the end it came to the head choice issues. I went with Gate and j because in the case of Flash Funk, there is no good head option, so improvisation was needed. But with Sandy, there are several good Raven scans to choose from, and even if you didn't want to use a Raven scan, there were other better choices. Deen used the TNA scan and it worked to perfection, either the TNA or WWE scans would've worked well for Sandy's piece. I can't figure what the thought process behind that choice was, i've looked at it over and over and i can't see any resemblance.

great work on both although the tatoos seem a tad too faded

These are awesome customs, very detailed and well customized.

TCKDEEN - Amazing work. tattoos are clean and look like they are in his skin rather then just on top like a lot of customs are. captures his signature pose really well also.

Sandman - Not huge on the scan he choose to represent raven. Looks more like eddie vedder or something rather then raven. The paint job is top notch and the rest of the sculpting is very tight.

GCS - Very smooth paint job. Really enjoy the use of the metallic colors. haven't seen one done better. not 100% sold on the scan but I do enjoy this figure.

FamousJ - Love this figure. The face likeness is amazing and spot on. The tight designs are very clean and straight. This is probably my favorite out of the 4. Pretty top notch figure.

Winner - Gate and FamousJ. Thought their figures were a tad bit cleaner and captured 2 Cold better then the first two captured Raven. Nice work all around though.

not sure what Raven matches you watched but typically he always looked miserable while sitting in the corner.
