Now before everyone bashes me, I am first very klumsy and this was my very first official custom, So I decided to take a crack at making myself a Surfer Sting I also know it may look bad but It took me 5 hours to do this and authenticity isnt a factor to me, if I have a simple figure of a certain wrestler, I'm happy.

ok little tip > Tights - rotate the torso, so when you paint the paint wont go on the toso it will go on the skin colour.
Face Paint - i dont know how old you are, but for me if i have a little drink i find my hand is alot more steady. if your not old enough to drink and decide to do dont point the blame at me.
Boots - Use Masking Tape, its not proper plactic tape its a white tape. most hardware and craf shops sell it and its quite cheap to buy. Make's straight lines for you.

I'm gonna get a couple tooth picks, and gouge out my GODDAMN EYES! Seriously though, that is pretty bad. What did you paint it with, one of those Testors paint brushes that comes with their paint sets? Looks like the brush was way too big, and you should have used some masking tape on the fig, as well. keep trying, you can only get better.

klumsy? And people were accusing me of poor grammar yesterday Oh man. Honestly, the custom is like really bad, even for a first... Sorry, it really is though, you shouldn't do complex characters when you first start.

Come on guys. Those types of replies are not helpful or necessary at all. He knew it wasn't good, but posted it for constructive criticism. All that will happen in this poor kid quitting customizing before he even begins.
It is sloppy. The most important tip I can give is to slow down. If it takes you a week to make a custom, well, take a week. Don't rush it. That always shows.
You need a couple of good brushes. Stay away from those cheap synthetic ones.
I typically take an exacto and sharpen a toothpick for small details and things like face paint.
I would get yourself some acteone, strip the paint and re-do it, just take your time and also search for some reference pics.
Keep working on it and you can only improve.

According to his profile, he's 27. Any ADULT who knows what they are doing doesn't post a custom that looks like that without knowing people will rip him a shiny, new a-hole. He even goes so far as to mention the fact that he knows people will bash it, it took him 5 hours, and that he doesn't care about authenticity. Exactly HOW do you expect people to react to that abortion of a custom? I'm 32, and I have YET to post any of my customs or fixups because I don't feel comfortable with presenting them yet, and I know people would probably rip on them. That's a risk you take when you post a pic of (let's be honest) a terrible custom. If he's happy with it, that IS all that matters, but he knew what to expect when he posted it here. Sorry, but it's true.
