WCWA Synthetic #9: Born in the USA

I was expecting the typical written out video highlights of what occurred at Trial and Error; however, Ben Jordon and Shane Douglas talk about it only briefly. Interesting…

WCWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship match: Jack Evans vs. SeXXXy Eddy
*Note: I’m still a little peeved that Eddy walked away with the Junior Heavyweight championship at Trial and Error. I liked Evans reign so hopefully he gets another shot at gold soon. See, Eddy’s pre-match comments came off as so annoying. He’s not someone I’d see myself rooting for…* Anyways, decent enough match. The ending really caught my attention…are we seeing the beginning of a possible Chris Hero/Jack Evans feud? That’d be an entertaining one, that’s for sure.

Nice promo from Hero…kind of confirms a possible feud with Evans.

Nice King of the Death matches vignette.

Heh…somewhat comical Pac/Beef promo.

Number One contender match for World Tag Team Championships: The Backseat Boys vs. Pac and Delirious
Very fun match. I think it’s come to the point where you should just release The Backseat Boys. These guys were atop of the WCWA tag team division for a very long time and you don’t hear much of anything from them anymore. I was really, really pulling for them to pick up the victory but I understand the need to make Pac and Delirious win the match. They really forming a likeable oddball tag team…

Interesting from Kingston. Interesting he mentions gimmicks and characters, kind of breaking kayfabe I suppose. Still a powerful and to the point promo.

Dan Corbin vs. The Messiah
Very heelish shenanigans from Joey Eastman. Guy is the top manager in WCWA, in my opinion. As for the actual match, not much action but it didn’t really need it. This Messiah/Nathan Kelley feud could be a feud of the year candidate. You have taken my favorite WCWA wrestler in The Messiah and put him to battle against a re-packaged Nate Webb. This theory of good vs. evil, God vs. non-believer is pretty interesting stuff. I can see this feud elevating both wrestlers…

Wow an actual serious (and effective!) promo from Jack Evans! Really getting into this possible feud between he and Hero; interesting that he asks Kingston to put his hatred aside.

WOW! SERIOIUS PROMO FROM BEEF! Excellent!

Ryan Cruz vs. The Necro Butcher
Well Ryan Cruz didn’t die. That’s something, I suppose. Necro Butcher really is ‘The Baddest man on the planet’. I always hear Vince McMahon saying that when he was introducing Mike Tyson on that Monday night RAW.

Necro enters the King of the Death matches. That was a given…there’s your winner, right there.

Hey it’s Mikey….eh….Tommy End. Effective promo…

Based on that Jimmy Jacobs promo, it’s safe to assume Kylie will turn on him sometime in the near future. Perhaps tonight…

Jimmy Jacobs and Lacey vs. Beef Wellington and Kylie
And the sickening, brutal, gory feud between Beef Wellington and Jimmy Jacobs continues in dramatic fashion. I have to question some of the things that go through your mind…I think you’re a sick bastard, personally. Some twisted stuff occurred in that match, my friend. Really opens up the readers awareness about how twisted Lacey and Beef really are! Beef, Lacey, and Jimmy all get spiked, Beef got a fireball thrown in his face…all this seems normally with these four!

Possibility for a Lance Storm/Claudio feud is amazing…

Leslie Butterscotch (seriously?) vs. Brian Damage
And that ended before the match even began. Damage enters the King of the Death matches. I think he’ll advance far.

World Championship match: Chris Hero vs. Lance Storm
Very technical match, as expected, until the very end. This was more of a Eddie Kingston/Jack Evans/Chris Hero thing than a BLK Out/Kings of Wrestling/Joey Eastman World Wide thing. This definitely creates an odd triangle…you have a well documented hatred between Eddie Kingston and Chris Hero. Yet the third wheel is Jack Evans, who seems to want to beat Hero as much as his fellow BLK Out member does. And then you have Kingston accidently back fisting Evans! Interesting, interesting indeed…

Well my friend another solid Synthetic. Build up some feuds nicely, created some newer feuds…all your storylines are extremely well explained. Great job.

- Very solid opening match. Well written match. I liked the spot with Evans having his pants pulled down. Hero's interfearing was a nice way to further Hero and Evans feud.

- Nice job with Delirious. You have his character down to a T. Very happy to see Delirious and Pac pick up the win.

- Very powerful promo from Eddie Kingston. Nicely done, one of the best promos I have seen in a long time. Impressive to say the least.

- Liked the angle with the WCWA tickets. Nice way to get Korbin and Eastmen over as heels. Very original idea, I like it. Was pulling for Messiah to win it.

- Nice way to make Necro look dominant by taking down Cruz

- Some sick stuff between Beef and Jacobs. Beef stabing Lacey was sick adn then Beef getting burned was crazy. Unbelievable stuff right there. .

- Nice squash match between Damage adn Butterscotch. Nice way to put Damage over. Only thing I would say is it was a little too similar to Necro's match. Too squash matchs in one night is too much imo.

- I was pulling for Storm to pick up the win over Hero. The edning was a little hard to follow with the "riot" that broke out in the ring. I like how Kingston took out Evans accidentally. Could it be a possible feud b/w the 2? Or a triple threat between Hero, Kingston, and Evans? Nice work on the main event though.

Overall the show was an enjoyable read. Some great story lines progressing. Look foward to seeing what you have in the future.

Just got finished reading your show. I love your writing style and thought this was a great show from top to bottom. The Lacey/Beef/Jacobs spike/fire brawl was a lot of fun to read. The Storm/Hero match was very good. I like the tag team of Delirious/Pac even though I am not familar with Pac. I loved the thing with Delirious and the referee hair pull sequence. It's the little things like that that really capture a character. This will be a show I will go out of my way to make sure I'm reading.

Now onto some of the negatives (very few and they are only my personal opinion).

I know you are trying to capture the ECW smashmouth uncensored style (which is why this is probably on HBO). However, ECW caught a lot of heat from crucifying The Sandman (his feud with Raven). You went even further and actually burned a cross! I'm sorry. I couldn't really get on board with that angle and not because of any religious beliefs. I just thought it was a little over the line and if this was an actual television show, there would be some huge backlash.

I like the idea of a believer vs. non-believer angle if it is done a little more tastefully. Just my opinion (which means little since I'm new).

Also, I know it's the style of the show but having the wrestlers curse is one thing but having the commentators curse is another. I understand it's Shane Douglas and if you've ever met him, he does have a bit of a potty-mouth but I think commentators that curse bring down the credibility of the promotion a tad.

Of course, I'm an old man that grew up watching wrestling from the 80s and I still have a very old school mentality when it comes to wrestling. When I post my first show (takes place in WWF 1985) you'll understand.

Those are my quibs which may or may not concur with anyone else's views. I still thought it was a solid show and a very easy show to read. I never had a need to skim anything and that is definitely important because it was able to keep my ADHD in check and hold my attention throughout.

I'll read some more of your shows throughout the week and leave my comments on it.
