Incredible match. And one of the most underrated points about this match, or at least undermentioned points is the commentary. Absolutely SPOT ON commentary by JR and the King. Jim Ross is brilliant, and this is one of his finer matches.
Props to Foley for these bumps. I know it's been said 1000 times, but we can say it again. He deserves it. The match would have been remembered if he'd left after the first bump off the top of the cage, but to run back to the ring and climb that cage after falling that far was gutsy and took some major courage.
Foley is Good.
I cannot find a third part to the match on Youtube. Feel free to post if you can find it.

There's something I would like to know about this match. Hope you guys know something.
Ok, so I know that the match was supposed to end with Taker chokeslamming Mankind on the top without it breaking, but something went wrong and it broke, thus Mankind fell off. Now, that first spot where he fell to the announce table, was that planned? I mean, it looked so sick that you could say "That must had been a mistake", but if you remember in Michaels vs Taker at Bad Blood 97, something similiar happened. So, do you know if that was by accident?

I mean, it looked so sick that you could say "That must had been a mistake", but if you remember in Michaels vs Taker at Bad Blood 97, something similiar happened. So, do you know if that was by accident? Based just on watching the video of the spot, I would have to say with at least 97% certainty that there's no way that was an accident. I cannot say that it was a "planned" spot, as in, Vince and everyone in the back knew it was going to happen, etc., but there's no way that was accidental. Foley knew it was about to happen. Taker knew it was about to happen. Even if Foley called it on the fly, and told Taker to do it right then and there, it wouldn't have been an accident. I have never seen an interview about that, so I cannot say with confidence, but judging just from the way the spot looks, I'd say it's pretty planned. Also, speaking of the Michaels/Taker HIAC, that one is pretty damn underrated. That fall that HBK took was insane, and had Foley not taken the harder fall, I feel like Michaels' fall from near the top would be remembered more. HBK took one hell of a beating in this match.

totally agree.
now ya see this is what a revenge match should look like-bloody with the heel getting ten types of crap stomped outta him.
Vinces PG nonsense prevented UT vs Edge in HIAC being a repeat of this match

I personally find the match over rated. Outside of 3 spots (all of which done by Foley) the match was pretty dull and didnt really tell any story for me. The Taker vs HBK HIAC was much better then this one. Better wrestling, still had a big spot, plus the story was great

Crazy match, just insane. All-in-all the match itself wasn't anything superb, it was really about the impact of those two bumps and how crazy it was that Foley was able to continue and then ontop of it take more damage and get slammed on tacks.
For the match, HBK v. Taker was much better, but this is one of the most historic matches I'd say ever. Mick Foley is the man.

JR and King were on their game that night. They gave the memorable quotes at all the right times. They provided the right emotion because I their reactions were genuine.
"As God as my witness, he is broken in half!" That line by JR is my favorite call of all time.
The match itself is nothing more than a spot fest but is one of my favorites. It never gets old.

As much as Foley was hurt in this match, people seem to forget that Undertaker had a broken foot BEFORE the match even started. Climbing 2 sides of the cage, dropping down from the top of the cell, and wrestling the whole match....with a broken foot. Damn.
However, the best HIAC for my money was easily Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker.

That wasnt a wrestling match, but a complete ass whooping.
Vince wasnt aware of certain spots that were going on, as the spot where foley is thrown. The only unexpected spot was when foley is chokeslammed thru the top. You can see Taker's face is in shock when it happens

Aside from Stone Cold, HITC Foley vs. Taker + The Montreal Screwjob, is what truly made the Attitude Era.
