So TUF 8: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir is being replayed on Spike and it was the 4th episode i believe. Where Shane and Junie get drunk while everyones watching the fights and at the end Junie trys to start a fight in after Escudero/Nelson. I also remember a couple more incidents with Browning from this show and was wondering a few things of your thoughts. 1. Why did White not Opped to kick him out? 2. Your thoughts about Junnie? in ring or outside 3. Why after it all and all the drunkeness and controversy do you think Dana brought him into the UFC and has given him 2 fights?
Personally i think the guys a dumbass when he drunk and sobber... he seems to talk alot of trash and hasnt really shown he can back it up. Also hasnt shown anything definitive in the ring that says "he can roll in the "big leagues"". Also i am CLUELESS to why Dana keep him on and even gave him two fights. So whats ur thoughts?

One of the biggest pulls of reality television is watching real people make jackasses out of themselves. Combine that with the added appeal specific to TUF, which is that said jackass may actually get his ass handed to him, and you can see why Dana's eyes go all aglitter whenever he sees the latest glorified fratboy waltz onto the TUF set. Controversy creates interest. Some people like to tune in to see what crazy stunt the idiot will do next, in order to laugh at him. Others tune in to see if today's episode is the one where the idiot finally gets what's coming to him. Others tune in because they identify with the idiot and love to see him push everyone's buttons. So, there's definitely appeal in the glorified fratboy idiot, which is why there's been many a TUF centered around them. I, personally, can't stand the ers, so I pretty much feel the same way you do even though I can see their appeal. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief when Rob Browning got knocked out of the house in his first fight during the last season. Bottom line, if I wanted to see people acting stupid and doing crazy stuff, I'd watch whatever Real World clone MTV is currently peddling. I'm in it for the fights and the rivalries, not for the stunts and the idiots. Unfortunately for me, for whatever it's worth Dana and/or Spike TV must assume that I and others like me are in the minority, or, like me, don't mind putting up with all the drunken insanity so long as we get to see it all settled in the cage. In regards to Junie Browning specifically, he's a product of the times. Junie knew that the jackasses got significant airtime, so he deliberately played up his role as the anti-social outcast jackass that loved to get drunk and act insane. He's pretty much mellowed out, mostly because of several things. One, he got what he wanted: he was one of the biggest characters of that season of TUF. Two, after getting what he wanted, there's no real need to keep dialing up the jackassery, especially since it's earned him such a negative reputation. Three, now that he's at Xtreme Couture he knows, first hand, that he's only just begun to find out what it means to be a Mixed Martial Artist. And finally, the fact that he got choked out in under 2 minutes in his last fight served as a hefty wake-up call. So, overall, I've got an "it is what it is" attitude toward Junie. He did what he had to do to get those 15 minutes of fame. I just don't think he's cut out for the UFC at all, but I could see him doing decent a couple of years from now.

^^^ exactly..
and on top of that Junie Browning did his job...because besides the winners of that season he is the only name most people will remember from the show.

He had alot of potentila and still does but he is a dumbass and cant keep his actions in check long enough to make something of his potential... But he did get FOTN honors with Dave Kaplan on the TUF finale of his season...

Yeah, I don't like him and that's what I'm sticking with. I'm the same. I understand the reality TV "personality" but if you can't cut it inside the cage where it counts, I'm not backing you

I'll just say this, the Junie you saw on the show was a Junie Browning trying to get Tv time, which he did successfully.

1 He would be popular with casual fans that want a "freakshow" of sorts. Thats all i could really come up with 2 I think he's a ok fighter but i'd rather not have to watch him get drunk. I'd appreciate it if he didn't get his own show. I do however feel sorry for his brother unless he acted like Junie (I didn't watch much of the season he was on). 3 If i was Dana i would keep him. He's a person for a first time fan watching in a bar with some friends to like because of those antics.

His one night was impressionable enough and his antics were much the same as Junies

I just think its funny, Dana doesnt allow phones, TV, radios in the house but yet the house is always stocked with booze. its just smart business to have that one guy in the house that everyone watches, Like Kimbo and Chris Leben.
