I saw the Bisping Vs Leben PPV Live in Birmingham. The crowd was pretty Bizarre, lots of guys there who didn't have a clue what they were watching, and booed everytime they grappled/went to the ground.
Also, it is really hard to tell who is winning sometimes when you are far away from the ring

I have been 23 times. There is generally 4 types of crowed members. 1: Big MMA fans, who love it and are respectful.
2: People who think the know everything. And will not listen to reasoning because they "know" are right. These people are the people looking to fight. Because they are better than everyone.
3: Drunk people. The show is just a reason for them to drink. Could be doing the same thing in the parking lot and they would be just as happy.
4: Celebrities. Weather they are MMA fighters, tv show people, movie stars. Some of these people are also number 3's.
Also lumped in their would be dates. Dates are their because their significant other brought them.
They are fun shows. If you are not within the first 10 rows you will pretty much be watching the monitors.

I've been to a lot of live UFCs. The atmosphere is great, but the crowd type depends a lot on where you see the show. Patrick Bateman's description of the types of people in the crowd is pretty accurate, except I would add one: "Party chicks" that dress slutty and cheer a lot while dancing and bouncing around... not because they're enjoying the fights, but because they're trying to get on camera. There's usually some douche nozzle sitting next to them that doesn't realize he's not on a real date, and that she basically used him for the free ticket and drinks so she could get on TV and possibly get near a real fighter. I've been to a lot of shows in Florida, which seems like a mini-version of a Vegas crowd. Lots of American Top Team members and their friends/family, so many of the people cheering actually know their stuff. Lots of the aforementioned party chicks that came to the fights as the guest of some douche. Lots of casual fans and touristy-types, too (hey, it's Florida). And when you get back to your car after the show, plan on seeing at least 3 fliers for "VIP parties," "exclusive afterparties," and any other gimmick the local bars can come up with to convince you to blow the rest of your money at their place after the fights.

Yes sir, I've been to two so far. Both events in Montreal. Serra vs. GSP II last year and Anderson Silva/Thales Leites and Chuck Liddell/Shogun Rua earlier on this year.
Both were awesome events, but UFC #83 was better because the place literally exploded when GSP won his belt back. I'm glad I was there to witness it in person. Such an awesome, awesome moment.
