....Against Brandon "The Truth" Vera: MMAweekly: A light heavyweight match-up between five-time UFC champion Randy Couture and Brandon Vera is targeted for UFC 105.
The news was first reported by British website Telegraph.co.uk. According to MMAWeekly.com's sources, both fighters have verbally agreed to the fight and are expected to receive bout agreements shortly.
UFC 105 is set for Nov. 14 at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England.
Couture (16-10) appeared last month at UFC 102, losing a unanimous decision to former Pride and interim UFC champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in a bout considered by many to be an instant classic. Following the bout, Couture hinted at a possible drop to 205 pounds, where he fought for nearly three years, thrice winning title honors.
Vera (14-3) fought alongside Couture on the Pacific Northwest card last month, winning a unanimous decision victory over Krzystzof Soszynski. Once a heavyweight himself, Vera has notched a 3-1 Octagon record as a light heavyweigh

I am VERY excited for this fight. I actually called this fright after 102. Glad to see it go down.

Hah, originally, UFC was going to have Evans vs. Couture, and Couture accepted but Evans turned it down. Now Evans is ducking fights.

Of course Evans is ducking fights. He probably knows that he has pretty much gotten lucky at this point, so he wants to avoid losing again. He probably breathed a gigantic sigh of relief when Rampage pulled out of their scheduled fight.

I can imagine that Evans "ducked" the fight because he wants to fight Rampage next, but who knows when that fight will come, so I think he should have taken that fight with Couture.

That's what I think. If he was to fight before and loose how would that help hype up the fight with Rampage. "Rashad coming off 2 loss's going against BA Br.......... Rampage Jackson. UFC 110 buy it for only 49.99." If Rashad lost it would kill all his hype. If I were him I would fight Rampage first.

I think this is put up or shut up for Vera. He hyped himself up to be huge when he first got to the UFC & this is the biggest name he's faced yet.

very stupid fight..
Couture just signed a 6 fight deal with the UFC...if he loses this it will be his third straight loss...losing to Nog, Lesnar, and Vera would not be any shame IMO..
I am a huge fan of both fighters and I think that is why I don't really want to see either guy lose... but Vera's muay thai is just so damn crisp.. Couture is the master of gameplans though..very hard fight to call..I wish Couture could fight Evans though...that is a fight I definitely think he would win.

A tad underwhelming fight though I would like to see what would happen if Vera beat Couture.

I bet anything if Vera wins he'll get the next LHW title shot.
