Brian Pillman & Steve Austin Mhmm. New Age Outlaws do run a close second, though.

Booker T and Goldust, highly entertaining and had great promos. Their meeting in 7-11 may be one of WWE'S best segments ever.

I know this is "classic wrestling" and all, but can't rule out Miz and Morrison.

Yep the new age outlaws. How diffrent DX and the attitude era may have been without these guys.

Would the hart dynasty count as a thrown together tag team? I know they were teaming before WWE but they made their "WWE debuts" as single wrestlers.
My vote would go to Booker T and Goldust though.

I gotta go with the New Age Outlaws, since they were quite literally paired up for no reason other than they were two guys with stupid gimmicks that nobody liked, so the WWF had to repackage them.
A few months later (and after some creative booking), people are screaming their catch phrases and buying their merchandise. Not bad for "The Real Double J" and "Rockabilly."
