And why can't someone backstage who does actually watch the show they're on just tell her "McCool set Dolph up... Oh, and Melina didn't put those photos up"? I hate how this storyline tries to suggest that Smackdown happens in an alternate universe where Smackdown isn't a TV show - except there's a giant ing crowd there, and Grisham and JR (who do interact with superstars) can clearly see the backstage segments as well. So stupid.

That happens constantly. Like some backstage segments are supposed to be like a soap opera and not ACTUALLY on camera. It is stupid, I agree. But I guess they can't think of a way around it. Necessary evil, I suppose.

LOL, I was thinking the exact same thing when Layla took that photo the other week. I always get a laugh out of these type of things. It's just like when they have two heels backstage conspiring some big evil masterplan to destroy the babyface... with a cameraman stood in front of them, filming every word they say; can't the face just watch a monitor? Suspension of disbelief is hard sometimes.

Also, I don't get sometimes how they pan to someone in the back- that's watching the program they're currently filming...and they stay on that person for a solid 2 minutes or so as they just spectate. Like, it's apparent that right at that moment they're only watching themself on TV, watching TV- right? Because it's not some magical feed that sees something other than what we all do. It's weird, but they do need to break the fourth wall sometimes for a wrestling program.

Modern day WWE is more or less moving more towards a tv show type deal and less having to do with reality, back in the day (wow I sound old) this kind of stuff didn't happen, it was just wrestling, general trash talking and sometimes something silly, but never every week.

Actually, I really do enjoy it. I enjoy the 'camp factor' sometimes, so long as it's not bordering on cartoonish(like Hornswoggle having Carlito run into a painted wall backstage) and they make you actually care for what's going on with the characters in a 'soap opera-esque' storyline. It's reminiscent of the Attitude Era, and also gives you a further investment into certain wrestlers you may feel you have no reason to cheer for or jeer for. Then again, I loved Dawson's Creek- so maybe noone should listen to my opinion.

She lacks mental stability, it's a well known fact. Exactly. In this case, it makes sense that Maria is too ing stupid to watch Smackdown. Case in point:

Well, I think they're supposed to be watching a direct feed of the show, and most likely they are, as many of the Superstars do watch the matches in the back... So, they probably are not watching the same thing we are at home.

If laugh every time I watch wrestling with my fiance's dad. He's a general fan so he likes it but still likes to cry out fake sometimes. He's always going "And there just happend to be a camera around that corner".
I think it's funny. Like in the Legacy/ Triple H esque chase through the arena scenes. There's ALWAYS a camera in place.
This is where I feel like the over production kind of hurts the product. "Buckle Up Teddy" looked like they were trying to parody something.

The same reason any other character doesn't know about every little thing that happens on the show they're on. I mean, I know in this case it's kind of different, since they know they're on a show and all, but it's still the same concept. Suspend your disbelief, people. Suspend your disbelief...

I didn't watch the week with "Buckle up, Teddy." When they showed a replay the following week, I thought it was a joke.

But we're suspending out disbelief to begin with by even watching a fake sport with scripts. But when you start throwing in elements that don't make any sense even within it's context, it just becomes intelligence insulting.

But when they go as far as having an invisible TV show, it's too much. They should at least get it straight as to whether the wrestlers actually know they're on a TV show and can watch it or not. And having Grisham and JR talk about the McCool/Dolph/Maria/Melina mix-up (thus setting them up as the only characters that can see those backstage segments) but not actually explain the situation to Maria makes them look like jerks. Suspension of disbelief can only go so far before it becomes suspension of basic human cognitive function.

Because if she was told or watched back what happens then that ends the storyline.
Just one of those things wwe does, doesn't have to make sense aslong as it works for them.

I get where you're coming from... rather than conspiracy show up on camera, I'd rather have the shock value of something that if shown on camera would mean something. Like, if Melina were to be spotted with Dolph after Maria leaves the scene, not this b.s. where we're suppose to feel sympathetic to Ziggler as a pawn in a game to hurt Maria.
