Here is my two cents. RA isn't the best line ever or anything silly like that. JAKKS did a very good job of putting out a lot of different figs in the RA line. The highlight was the CS line. So, for those who have collected these figs over the last 6 years they have invested a lot of time and money in the RA line. With JAKKS now having the TNA line it opens the door to a lot of new figs both currently in the TNA line and wrestlers that would be good for the CS line that WWE may not have wanted. Very similar situation with JAKKS UFC Line and even Mattel with the WWE line. Here is the kick in the ass. JAKKS with both their UFC and TNA line are going with figures that are not in scale with the RA line that so many of us collected over the last 6 years. Doesn't matter if you play or display your figs, this sucks. Why in the hell would I want to start my whole collection over again?? I can understand Mattel. They are going to be shitting out Cena, HHH, HBK, Orton, Batista, Rey, etc and not many will want to buy even more of those if they are in scale with JAKKS RA if they already have them. But JAKKS on the other hand is just plain  ed up. To me, they are turning their backs on a very large portion of their customer base. To me, this is JAKKS saying you we don't care about your patrionage over the past six years. And to some of us, this is the end of collecting. |

1) RA came out first, and is much more compatible with the TTL scale (which was awesome because i had about a zillion TTLs and the switch to RA was seamless)
2) they cost less than DA
3) us long-time collectors deserve to be rewarded. DA is like BluRay to me - sure it's better, but not better enough to warrant buying a whole new collection.
4) i am old and don't play with my toys hardly ever at all. yeah, given the poses an RA can hold aren't the best either, but it's just the standard. plus, i've gotten hella good at customizing them in any way that i want (swaps, painting etc.)
in closing, i will admit that DA is better than RA in many ways, but the biggest thing is that they don't mesh with my (very extensive) RA/TTL collection. but in respect for DA, i do have a couple of the bigger guys (Big Show, Kane, Taker...) because i like how they tower over some of my other "normal" sized guys (normal being in the 6-6 1/2 foot range)

I agree totally. I feel, too, that people are mad about TNA figs being DA because they've sank so much into RA and never gave DA a chance. I think the RA style is way better than DA. And I gave DA a chance. I bought every figure from the first 4-5 waves. I don't play with my figures so I don't really care about the extra joints. The split chest piece looks bad and the limbs all got really loose within months even though I didn't even play with them. I ended up selling pretty much my entire DA collection months after I bought them. I want the TNA line to succeed but I have my doubts now because DA's are more expensive and tend not to sell as well. RA figs are much easier to customize too which is very useful when Jakks leaves out all sorts of details or uses the wrong parts. |

If DA had come out first, people would be bitching if TNA went to RA. Evolution is a part of life. And RA is some of worst figures ever made. |

thereisnoart, first off thank you for wanting a regular exchange of ideas...some folks on here dont like them and that is well within there rights.. what annoys me is when people come on here and declare they suck and try to sell it like its a fact... its fair to say some like them and some not... now in my case i collect the classic guys and i use them... i dont try to claim that there the best and thats fact...but they are the best to me and what i want... some people hate them due to reused parts... theres only so many body shapes in the worid to be honest... maybe a few more in betweener chest builds and maybe 4 0r 5 diffrent sized leg molds and id say no issue there after... some also go way out of control to say they can not lift there legg to do a big boot... personally i have always gotten a g8 see saw back and fourth classic match with my collection..and i use a wide variety of moves... weather its jakes ddt, mr perfects perfect plex, the iron sheiks camel clutch, lex lugers human torture rack, ric flairs figure four leg lock what ever... i have always been able to perform the movies i like to use with them and no problems... in fairness about iron sheik i customed my own to look like his 80s ljn counter part... and the jakks parts i used when hes sitting down dose give his leggs a wider span making his finisher easyer.. i think some folks other issue is wrong part choices by jakks... and i wont dissagree with most on that.. but never bothered me much as i am a customizer and like to tinker with some of my figures to get the look im going for.... Honestly people who dont like RA because for them its not there cup of tea are ok with me... the people who personally dont like them then jump all over these boards spewing off how the supposed fact is they suck period... well they need to realize the world dont revolve around there views... any more then it would mine if i told people RA is better then anything and if you like different then your a fool.... that kind of logic on either side is crap...like what ya like but be respectful that others likes wont be the same as yours 8 times out of ten...lol again thanks for a refreshing fair chance to have a thoughtful exchange insted of the norm around here of "fact is they suck cause im right" crap...lol karma for you  |

Ra are horrible "action figures" . The purpose of an action figure is to provide action. Ra's, as stated by the original poster do not. However, RA's are nearly 15 years old...ther is 15 years worth of mold design and collecting. The figures came out when TTl was around, and at the time RA's were revolutionary comparatively speaking. However, with the way action figures are now, RA's should be take off the shelves or at least should have a while ago, but they werent, and so you have a fanbase that has a line they've been collecting for years. Point is most people do not want to strat recollecting after investing thousands of dollars into their hobby. It's not that the style is that great)maybe it is for MOC collectors), but i think its' more that people dont want to have to recollect. that's my reasoning anyway. What kind of math did you do to come up with "RA has been around 15 years?" well that's what it seemed like, lol. thanks for adding to the discussion though. |

I too will never understand the devotion that people feel toward RA style figures. DA figures are superior in articulation, detail and poseablity, which are the three main standards for which action figures are judged. RAs cannot even be posed in simple positions because of the limited articulation of the arms and legs.
Don't get me wrong here, I adore RAs. I just don't understand the obsession over the inferior product. Its like saying "No! I will never use a cellular phone! My corded-rotary phone has always worked just fine!".

The 2 main reasons for me are
1, DA's look very odd when your only using them for display and don't even stand right and don't really seem to look like the figure is even of a human.
2, My collection is only RA I have like 200 RA figures so it would have been nice to complete my collection of a few names I was missing like Sting and Jeff Jarrett etc. If I was to buy only DA versions of them they would just look out of place in my collection.

it's a long explanation bro...it's a 50-50 thing...sometimes RA's look more scaled than their DA counterparts, or vice versa....DA has more playability while RA is less expensive...they're even in some aspects

If you just pose the figures on a shelf then the extra articulation isn't necessary. Joints can be the enemy of someone who just wants the figure to stand. Especially Jakks and their loose joints. If you want to play with them then more power to you and your DA collection. I'm personally okay with the RA. See now we are both happy!

When a Superstar debuts, there first Figure is RA.
RA has way more detail.
They look better than DA.

Not trying to "necro" this thread, but I wanted to say thanks for all the level-headed, non-confrontational thoughts about this hot-button topic. While I, as someone who hasn't been collecting for years, don't really care for the RA style, I can better understand why some do. Here's hoping that whatever Jakks and Mattel do, going forward, that everyone can find something to like about them. I think having competition between the two will only bring about positive changes.

Because RA's have better body molds. On a DA figure, a latter CS Ric Flair would have that generic ripped torso JAKKS gave everyone
On an RA, it would most likely either have a fat, flabby, or cruiserweight style body mold

We don't like the pose-ablity, we like that tons of wrestlers have been made in that style and we want future figures to look OK with them.

I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen a post that mirrors my thoughts, so here goes. I also find it really funny when someone shows up and says "DA are awesome/DA suck." Your opinion isn't fact, no matter how in love with it you are. Anyway:
The problem I have with the decision to go DA with TNA is the fact that I don't particularly care for TNA. A lot of the guys have an RA figue yet, it might not be completely up to date but I can have a Scott Steiner if I want one in RA form. Jeff Jarrett bores me to tears, so the only reason I would buy a TNA figure would be if it was someone from TNA I do like, such as Sting, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Abyss, ect. or someone that was never made in the CS line like Raven or Vampiro or Macho Man. If they had made the line RA, there are a couple guys I would definitely buy, and if they were done well and the price was right, I might end up collecting the whole line. If they are DA, that will not happen. Not in a petulant or bitter way, but they could have continued collecting money from me if they had made the product I want, but since they aren't I'll find something else to do with it.
I own some DA's and some of them are cool, I like John Morrison, Jeff Hardy, HBK, the Hooligans, basically any of them that have the pants mold or the hinge hips. If they don't.....not so much. When you pick them up by the torso, if you shake them even a little the legs shake in their joints, and the legs aren't very strong, when I stand them up they tend to slowly lean until they topple over. RA may not have as much pose-ability, but there's something to be said for a strong base not prone to warping or weakening. RA are among the sturdiest figures made in the modern market, I read someone once say they accidentally drove over an RA figure their son left in the driveway, and it didn't break and was only scratched. That's incredibly valuable for a line aimed at kids.
Anyway, to sum it up, I would have bought a good number of RA TNA figures, but now I won't be doing that, and I think a lot of DA collectors might be in for a shock, I have a feeling when the TNA figures are revealed they'll be more akin to UFC than the WWE DA line. I would have bought Jakks product if I could have integrated it into my current and larger collection, but I don't feel the need to spend the money on a style of figure I don't like as much as their original counterparts that are being cast aside. TNA just isn't as popular as WWE and I think it's a bad decision to go with the less popular style for a less popular brand.

I like DA, but IMO RA is way better. RA has a bigger roster and is easier to use with TTL because of scale, also it has really good joints but they're not exxesive, I personaly like them better than DA and there is almost no moves DA can do that RA can't but if it matters to you than go with DA, although I don't, I think it's better
