Once again Kobe shows why he's not in the same league as MJ How so? I can agree hes not because MJ is on a level that no one.....no one is near, but Kobe is the closest than anyone who is active right now. Kobe is IMO a Top 10 player all time...maybe top 15 but hes the closest to Jordan as there is

Once again Kobe shows why he's not in the same league as MJ How so? Are you kidding? MJ woulda singlehandedly willed that team back. There is NO comparison. End of discussion.

Lakers didn't get offensive help from Artest, Fisher or Odom. At least one of those guys each game has to post up at least 15 for them to win.

Kobe, all team defense on a guy who ties the Finals 3 point record in one half. Allen was 6-6 on threes before Kobe even started guarding him... What are you talking about? Fisher was guarding him all game, including after. I was talking about how Kobe was undercutting the rotation and flat out leaving Allen wide open off of poor team defense.

Celtics barely got through this one. Both teams getting bad calls all night, players from both teams absent offensively, etc. I'm just glad it wasn't the Lakers coming up on top tonight.

Michael Jordan wasn't having 35 win seasons when he was closer to 30 than he was 20... nor would he stand on the wing without moving much and demand the ball then pout when his PG turns it over in a double team.
I thought the Celtics played great defense in the 4th and Glen Davis and Ray Allen were the biggest factors in the game... and Davis didn't even play much.
Kobe looked like crap tonight all over the place. Defense, offense, off the ball.
This game was weird because of the refs really screwing with Boston. It was inconsistent, but it's still a valuable game to watch footage of because the Celtics defense did alter the Lakers.
Bynum and Gasols 7 and 6 blocks were quite phantom but still a force to be reckoned with. I think they had 10 of those on the Glen Davis put back tour alone... which was quite the play by Davis.
Some of the passes KG made were Godly for his size. The one where he caught the ball on the wing with his finger tips while jumping and then Glen Davis had the ball less than a second later... sick.

For all of KG's incompetence on offense, he really did open up the floor with his passing.
Big Baby is like Tony Allen and Nate...they either play amazing, save the day or they crapthe bed and cost us a win or put us in a hole. Not really Baby but hes usually ineffective or amazing.

My only major concern for the Celtics (that they should be able to control) is the rebounding efforts. There were a few in the 4th quarter where I was thinking, they deserve to lose this game now. Just standing there on the glass when it was KG and Perkins in the game.
I think it's safe to say that either Rasheed or Glen Davis need to get in there when it looks like that. They were both hustling on the glass tonight, going for the stretch rebounds.
I think KG and Perkins expect Rondo to grab up every rebound they don't hustle after. Rondo gets a lot of rebounds, but most of them are almost touching the floor already. That is nice and all for his averages, but that's killing them. Especially considering he wasn't pushing the ball for anything tonight, so his quick rebound is negated in terms of the offensive control. I appreciate the slow down from the point guard more than anyone, but there were a few spots that I would have liked to see him push it. But, then again, he was 4-4 in the 4th quarter and they won...

I am concerned about KG, but the fact he was very good in the previous few series...well very good/ to serviceable makes me feel he will be fine.
The rebounding worries me, always has. Gasol and Bynum are solid but the Celtics should be outrebounding them nightly.
Pierce will be fine, I expect him to have a huge night back at home.
The fouls, like I said, are not consistent, but a lot of them are fouls and dumb ones. That should work itself out hopefully.

Ha my friend (Kobe fan) just texts me so I write back "How does Kobe lose when Gasol and Bynum combine for 46 points, 13 blocks and 12 rebounds?"
and he writes (mocking me);
yea, LeBron woulda had 120 rebounds and blocked all of Ray Allen's 3's with his d*ck

I dunno if they should be out rebounding them (that is a pretty big team) but yea they should be out hustling them for sure. Pierce and Garnett, you have to remember, are unselfish. They could give a crap about their averages as long as they have that ring in the end. So I dunno if it's old legs or them just not finding a rhythm and letting the moments come to them when needed. The fouls though, I'm just gonna say it, were bull. I don't usually come out and clown NBA officiating because I think it's a waste of focus, but it was real shady out there tonight. It certainly changed the game. The stuff with Kobe was weird, some of his were legit, some bull. But the one at the end when Allen went at him in the lane and missed... it wasn't a foul on Kobe (and they didn't call one), but on the other end of the floor they were calling that all night.

Exactly, the Kobe/Allen play is a play on...I am fine with that IF IF IF you are calling that all night...which you werent, so it should have been called, but the ref's would have been assassinated right on the floor if they did that.
It was just not consistent all night, you cant tell me a +25 FT differential and its fair "or just the game"

Kobe isn't MJ obviously, nor is anyone in NBA history. But I'd still consider him in the top 5 of all time players, with a chance of moving to the top 3 depending on how many more rings he wins.

Youd put him ahead of Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson right now? Doubtful

Kobe Ok, I was wrong, but only 1 spot off. Kobe still has a chance to move up because the guy is only 31, and will have a championship caliber team for the next couple of years.
