Live from the TD Garden in Boston, MA on January 30, 2011
The opening video package airs and starts off with Edge winning a triple threat number one contenders match. This proceeds to the weeks of build up in the new year with his battles against the WWE Champion, Kane. Each get the upper hand on each other back and forth over the course of Smackdown episodes. Over on the Raw side - King of the Ring Dolph Ziggler attacked John Cena at the TLC Pay-Per-View. He then announced the next night he'd use his title shot at the Royal Rumble against Cena. He constantly gets the upper hand on the World Champion, and even gets it when being down as Cena was suspended during the contract signing. Cena, however, retaliated and cost him a match for the Intercontinental title. Highlights of their brawls hype things up. The Royal Rumble Match is hyped last. Forty men will enter; one will walk out with a world title shot at WrestleMania XXVII.
"Last Man Standing" by Pop Evil leads us into the arena as pyros click off the stage. The arena is scanned over following the pyros as the sold-out Boston crowd cheers on for the event. We head to ringside where Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, and Michael Cole are. Ross welcomes everybody to the twenty-forth Royal Rumble event! Cole follows up by saying this may be the twenty-forth year in a row with this event, but it will be the first time forty men enter the main event match. Lawler says he has had his share of Rumble matches, and he never got that far. He says he can't even imagine being up against thirty nine, let alone the previous ten less. They then say along with that Rumble match we will also be seeing four championship matches! Starting right now.

The bell goes off and Edge immediately rushes up to Kane and fires off with strikes. The Big Red Machine doesn't like it one bit, though, and grabs him by the throat. Edge kicks him in the knee and elbows him in the head a couple of times. He goes to the corner and brings himself to the second turnbuckle and jumps off with a double axe handle that causes the champion to stagger. He hits off the ropes and returns with a boot to the chest and Kane wobbles some more. He goes for it again, but the boot is caught and Kane grabs him by the throat and raises him up and drops him right back down with an early chokeslam. He drops tot he mat and hooks the leg up only getting a two count. He staggers back up slowly and takes Edge by the hair and pulls him up. He hits a few uppercuts before taking him to the middle of the ring and hitting a hard powerslam. He then goes to the corner and adjusts his elbow pad before going out to the apron and climbing to the top rope. Once Edge rises, he jumps off for the clothesline. The Rated R Superstar is smart though and moves out of the way. He holds onto the ropes and goes up to Kane once he rolls back to a knee and hooks hold of his head and hits the Edgecution! He hooks up the far leg but only gets a two count. He sits up and brushes his hair back in disbelief. He staggers back up and stomps away a couple of times at the champ and lets him get up at the ropes. He continues with shots before dipping under a shot and quickly getting out to the apron. Kane turns and Edge grabs him by the back of the neck. He runs towards the corner but Kane pushes him off and causes Edge to smash face first into the steel post and fall to the floor. Kane rolls out of the ring and waits for Edge to rise back up and hits him with a huge big boot once he is on his feet. He laughs a bit and then forces him back up by the hair. He lifts Edge onto his shoulder but the challenger grasps hold of the ropes nearby. He pulls himself off and sits on the apron. He throws Kane against the mat and dips into the ring to stop the count and then gets back out to the apron. He staggers up on it and then jumps off as Kane turns and hooks hold of his head, spinning and hitting a huge DDT on the hard floor! They stay down for a while as the referee reaches the count of six. Edge staggers up slowly and Kane gets up at the ring. He rolls in slowly and Edge barely makes it at nine. They both get up with the aid of the ropes and Kane immediately grabs Kane by the throat and goes for the chokeslam only for Edge to drop off to the side and stumble backwards. He ducks a big boot and hits off the ropes and goes for the spear. Kane dips to the side a bit but Edge still grabs his leg and rolls him up to the mat only to get a near fall. Edge gets right back up and gets out to the apron. He climbs to the top rope slowly and Kane rises up and the Rated R Superstar dives off for a clothesline but gets caught by the throat and dropped with the chokeslam hard. Kane drops to the mat and hooks the leg up, getting the three count and victory.

Winner of the match and still WWE Champion, Kane (10:16) ***

Kane staggers to his feet slowly and does his signature pyros before being given his WWE Championship. He dangles it from his hand and gives a maniacal laugh over Edge's body. He exits the ring slowly and makes his way up the ramp still the champ.
We cut to an office where Jesse Ventura and Abraham Washington are chatting about tonight's event. Washington says we're going to have some numbers picked pretty soon. He's expecting some guys to come by. The camera shifts to Gail Kim and Eve Torres who are complemented by Ventura as beautiful as usual. They thank him for it and Washington says he'd hit that! They give him a disgusted look as he tries to get a high five from Ventura, who just shakes his head. Alberto Del Rio walks into the room along with Ricardo Rodriguez. He says that winning the Royal Rumble is his destiny. He knows it is. He also knows that it is his destiny to pull number forty! Ventura tells him to shut his trap and pick a number. Del Rio looks at him and tells him not to talk to him like that. After he does win the Rumble he could be on Monday Night Raw - but it doesn't seem like that good of an idea with such a terrible General Manager unlike Smackdown. He gives a wink to A-Wash and he gives one back. Alberto then reaches into the bin and pulls a number. Rodriguez leans over his shoulder and blows on the ball. Alberto looks to him oddly at first but then thanks him. He opens it up and grows a smile across his face but it goes completely away when he unfolds the slip of paper. Washington leans in to see it and says there must be some kind of mistake and tells Alberto to pick another one. Ventura grabs the slip out of A-Wash's hand and puts it out for Del Rio. He tells him to get out of here. Alberto looks very frustrated and snags the paper away, ordering Ricardo to follow him. |
United States Championship Alex Riley w/Jack Swagger vs |

Rey Mysterio©

The bell rings and the two men go around the squared circle at the ropes. Swagger immediately grabs at Rey's leg and Mysterio turns to him, getting clubbed from behind by Riley. The challenger stomps down on him viciously until the referee reaches a count of four. Rey gets back up and Riley hits a few shots to the head and a series of chops to the chest. He whips him off the ropes but misses a clothesline on the return. Mysterio baseball slides into Swagger and gets back up on the apron, taunting to the crowd. Riley doesn't like it and rushes into him - plowing him off the apron and to the hard floor. He exits and goes right behind him as he staggers to his feet with aid of the steps. Riley pounds down across the back multiple times and throws the champion face first into the steel steps. He rolls back into the ring and the referee begins to give him a stern talking to. Riley talks back to him to keep him distracted as Swagger throws Rey into the steps once again before rolling him into the ring and backing off. Riley goes for the pin but Mysterio kicks out at two. Riley drags him back up and puts him against the ropes and strikes at him some more. He lifts him up off the mat and nails him with a spinebuster in the middle of the ring. He gets up as the crowd boos him and he hits off the ropes. He returns for a knee drop, but the champ manages to roll out of the way. He gets back up and begins to kick away at the legs of Riley. He then hits a few forearm shots before whipping him off the ropes and delivering a huge hurricanrana in between the ropes. Mysterio gets right back up and hits off the opposing ropes and goes for the 619. Swagger catches hold of his legs before they can reach Riley, however. The referee immediately goes over and orders Swagger to let go. He does and then he is told to get to the back! Swagger argues as the ref exits the ring and backs him up the ramp as Mysterio waves bye to him. He notices Riley staggering back up and he springboards off the ropes at him only to be hit in the stomach with something that completely lays him out. It is clear after Riley slips it out of the ring, though, that it is a pipe he must of hidden in his shoe. He hooks both legs up and the referee comes back down to the ring. He begins to count but Mysterio manages to kick out just barely. He argues with the referee and is not happy one bit. He grabs Mysterio by the neck and drags him back up. He lifts him onto his shoulders, setting up for the You're Dismissed. Mysterio wiggles himself though and eventually flips himself around and manages to hit a DDT on Riley that causes him roll forward and tumble in between the ropes. The champ then gets back up and takes notice of the position and he nails the 619! He then climbs to the top rope and hits a huge big splash and hooks the leg of Riley for the pinfall and he gets the three count.

Winner of the match and still United States Champion, Rey Mysterio (7:46) **3/4

Mysterio rises to his feet in celebration as the crowd cheers him on. He is given his United States Title and he thanks the referee as he raises the gold up to the crowd as Riley exits the ring and Swagger returns to help him to the back. He talks some trash to Mysterio, who could care less about what he says to him - he's still the United States Champion and that's all that matters to him right now. Riley and Swagger head to the back.
We cut to the back where Washington and Ventura are looking upward. Big Show is standing there and the crowd gives him a decent pop. He points to the tumbler and says he's tried to reach in one of those before - but it just doesn't work out. Washington says he's got it but Show tells him he'd rather not have him not. He asks one of the ladies to do it for him. They give him a smile and Eve reaches in and hands him one. He thanks her and pops the ball open and opens up the piece of paper as Jack Swagger and Alex Riley come into the room. Swagger says excuse me to Show as he stands in the way, but he doesn't move. He looks up to him and says it again. Show laughs and backs up a bit as Swagger reaches into the tumbler and pulls out a number. He goes to open it and Show leans over his shoulder. Swagger looks up at him and asks if he would mind his own business. He opens the number up and gives a moan. Riley walks over and looks at the number and begins to complain along with Swagger that he deserves higher than that! Show says he'd be willing to trade with him - he likes a bit of competition anyway. Swagger asks if he's sure and Show hands him his ball and takes Swagger's. He says no problem and walks out. Swagger looks at it and begins to complain that Show just screwed him over! He storms out yelling Show's name.

The bell tolls and the two diva's lock up. Lee gets Melina to the mat early on and tries to get her in a headlock but Melina scrambles free and gets to the ropes. Lee follows after her but gets tripped into the corner. Melina proceeds to put the boot to her throat and keep it there until the count of four. She then slaps Lee across the face and gets kicked right in the stomach. The champion pounds away across the back and hits a huge kick right to the face that sends Melina down. Lee hooks both legs but only gets a two count off it. She drags Melina back up by her hair but gets headbutted in the stomach. Melina then tackles her to the ground and bashes her head off the mat repeatedly. She then gets back up and hits a few hard shots and gets her against the ropes. Lee manages to kick her in the knee though and nails an enziguri out of nowhere that lays Melina out. She covers her and gets the three count.

Lee gets to her feet quickly and gets a small pop from the crowd. She is given her Women's Championship and she climbs to the top turnbuckles each and raises it up to the crowd as the commentators praise her for rising up in the Diva's division so quickly on Smackdown!
We then cut to ringside where Jim Ross says that tonight has been quite interesting already. We still got ourselves one more title match to go, however, and that match is the World Heavyweight Championship match between John Cena and Dolph Ziggler. We cut to a video package of Ziggler winning the King Of The Ring and making his speech, concluding it with "All Hail King Ziggler!" repeatedly. At TLC in December, Cena retains his World Title against The Miz and Chris Jericho but is then attacked by Ziggler out of nowhere. The next night he announces his intentions to face him at the Royal Rumble for the World Title. The weeks of build up with each other getting one up each time are shown and then stops at the contract signing. Jesse Ventura warns them if they lay a hand on each other, they'd be suspended the next show. Cena says "I'm sorry" after tons of trash talk from Dolph and he ends up laying him out through the table with the Attitude Adjustment. A few clips are shown to conclude the package.
John Cena©

The bell rings and the two circle the ring slowly. They go to the middle and lock up, Cena getting the control and backing Ziggler to the ropes. He pulls back though and gets kicked in the gut. Ziggler fires away with shots across the face and then to the face once the champ straightens up. He nails him wit ha dropkick but misses one right after so Cena grabs hold of his leg and tries to get the STF early. Ziggler, however, scrambles and grabs hold of the bottom rope. He pulls himself back up and circles around again. He dives at Cena but gets grabbed by the neck and thrown into the corner and met with a fury of shots. Cena then ducks a clothesline and flapjacks him into the mat. He rolls out to the apron and then gets up and onto the top turnbuckle. He measures Dolph up for his leg drop, but the challenger springs himself to his feet and hops onto the second turnbuckle. He hooks hold of Cena's head and then proceeds to hit a superplex. They both lay out as the referee begins to count. They roll to opposite sides of the ring and get up around five. They charge at each other and Cena ducks a shot and fires away on the turn around. He nails a hip toss and then another one. He hits a spinout inverted suplex and then pops up to his feet over Ziggler. He leans down and motions the "You Can't See Me" and hits off the ropes, delivering the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He pops up and adjusts himself in preparation. Ziggler staggers up and gets lifted onto the shoulders but he manages to slip off just in time and get out of the ring, motioning for a time out. Cena points to him and looks out to the crowd, asking if he should give a time out. For those who understand what he says, they give a boo. Cena then drops to the mat and rolls out of the ring. He chases Ziggler around the ring until he pushes the steel steps out with his foot and causes Cena to fall right onto them. Ziggler then rolls into the ring as the referee reaches a six count. Cena then staggers back up and rolls in at eight. He gets met with stomp after stomp to the back and Ziggler drags him back up and delivers a hard neckbreaker. A pin attempt, but an easy kick out from the champ. Ziggler mounts on top of him as Cena rolls over and he applies a camel clutch. Cena struggles a bit and keeps himself in place. Ziggler gets frustrated after a minute as Cena refuses to give up. He drags him to his feet and hits a few chops to the chest before whipping him off the ropes and avoiding a clothesline and hitting a huge DDT as Cena turns back around. He hooks the leg up and gets a two count once again. He gets frustrated and gets back up, forcing Cena along. He works him in the corner a bit with some strikes and then gets shoved back. Cena comes flying out and clotheslines him. He does a couple more before ducking a shot and hitting the spinout suplex. He lets Ziggler get back up though and lifts him for the Attitude Adjustment. Ziggler scrambles again and grabs hold of Cena's head and drags him down to the mat with a sleeper hold! He applies a body scissors and Cena struggles in it. He keeps trying to fight and reach his legs out to the ropes but can't get them. He begins to fade and the referee raises up his wrist once - it drops. He takes hold of it again and pulls it up once more - it drops again. He brings it up for the third time with the other hand pointed towards the bell in case. He lets go and it begins to drop but Cena keeps it slightly up. He shakes it a bit and begins to shuffle his legs some more. Ziggler tightens the hold more but Cena begins to struggle even more and eventually manages to roll them both over on their faces. He then forces himself up onto a knee and then to the other. He rises to his feet as Ziggler lets go of the sleeper and Cena falls back into the mat. They both roll around a bit and get hold of the ropes and stagger back up. Ziggler manages to get up and over to Cena first and he hits a few shots. He then goes off the other ropes and returns for a clothesline, only to be caught by Cena and laid out with a hip toss. Cena rises to his feet and gets out to the apron and to the top rope again. Ziggler begins to rise and the champ dives off and nails a huge leg drop. Ziggler obviously took it hard as he begins to kick around in pain well holding his head. Cena staggers back up and forces Ziggler up. The challenger fights a bit with a couple of shots but Cena manages to duck one and yank him up for the Attitude Adjustment - which he nails. He doesn't go for the pin though, as he grabs the leg and continues on to put in the STF! Ziggler scrambles his hands about as the hold is in tight and he tries to find somewhere to go. He begins to lose energy and gives out a yelp before tapping out.

Winner of the match and still World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena (17:42) ***1/2

Cena rises up to his feet and puts his hands up in celebration as the audience gives him a good pop. He is awarded the World Heavyweight Championship and he slings it over his shoulder. He leans over Ziggler, who still rolls around, and gives him the "You Can't See Me". He rolls out of the ring after that at Kaitlyn's feet. Cena continues his celebration by raising the title to each side of the arena with a giant smile across his face. He exits the ring slowly.
We cut to the offices again where Washington is now sitting on the couch leaning on his own arm as Ventura chats it up with Eve and Gail. In comes Randy Orton and he gives a hello to the diva's and a nod to Washington and Ventura. He goes to the tumbler and reaches in just as Chris Jericho walks into the room. Orton pulls his number and he stares at Y2J, who gives him a grin. He talks about the roll he has been on lately - unlike somebody. He pats Orton on the shoulder and reaches towards the tumbler. Orton grabs his wrist, however, and pulls him back. He asks if he wants to say that again. Jericho gives a laugh but it stops as he realizes Orton is dead serious. He says he was just joking and Orton lets him go before leaving the room. Jericho then picks his number and opens it up with a chuckle and says he could have drawn number one and won it all, but this just adds to his chances. He walks out.
