I've been looking at pics of the new Mattel figures, and I've got to say that the torso's on the BASIC figures look to be a lot better and lot more detailed than the torso's on the Elite figures. The Elite torso's look too toy-ish due to the joint. I wish the Elite figures were BASIC torso's with ELITE legs. Even with Jakks Deluxe Aggression figures, I never felt anything was gained by having the torso joint. Look at how much better the BASIC CM Punk looks, compared to the Elite CM Punk. The Elite torso looks deformed and not human due to to the joint. Is there anyway to express this to Mattel and let them know that it would probably be a good idea for future Elite figures to have BASIC torso's but with the Elite legs for the extra articulation? Here is another comparison between BASIC and ELITE. In my opinion Mattel's torso joints are way more noticeable than Jakks DA torso joints and really hurt the appearance of the figure. What are you're guys thoughts?

i see your point but i think in this cm punk case the basic torso looks too bulky but i guess that doesnt count in all cases. also, the torso joint helps look more realistic when doing animations/poses. plus, have you seen the tatoos on the elite punk? have you seen the kickpads? in that case i genuinely believe elite>basic

Yeah it does make them look a little bit bad, I wish the Basics had legs that went sideways though.

I personally like Basics better, just the look of them... I like the accessories and everything for the Elite figures, but, other than Punk's black/white tattoos(which pisses me off), I really think the Basics don't lack any detail. There a hell of a lot more detailed than the RA line was... And I always liked those more than DAs... I plan on only collecting Basics, and buying a few Elites here and there... I may buy Elite Punk and do an armswitch(if possible with Mattels).

yeah the torso joint does look weird with mattels elite figs. so does the hip joints..makes the trunks look stupid. I'll probably do torso swaps with basics and elites since i like the basic torso and elite legs

Now that you mention it, the Elite figures do like strange. I never took a real good look at them and now I can really see what you mean. But the thing is, I'd like to get some of the figures with extra articulation so I can mix them up and have matches with the basic and elites. This is all granted I collect Mattel stuff though lol.

It depends on personal preference to be honest, I like the Elite line because I collect DA figures, but if it's possible to do head-swaps then I'll get a few Basic figures as some of the scans are better than the Elite scans.
Like for example, if the Basic CM Punk scan was on the Elite version, it would look so much better.

Actually I disagree. Mattels joints blend in more. Plus they look more flexible. ;D

You are right, the joints are a bit more noticable, jakks hid it under the chest. But this one has abs articulation unlike jakks which was higher.
The problem with that punk torso, if any, is the top half needs to be bigger.

If head swaps are possible, I'd also swap the 2-pack HBK scan with the Elite HBK scan.
I don't see how the Basic CM Punk is better than the Elite version, there's no design on his kickers and black tattoos, the Elite version looks way better.

Im a big DA fan and boy was i pissed when Jakks decided to roll out DA while continuing RA. So now im trying to sell my huge RA collection because they dont play or display as good as DA. What i love about Mattel is regardless of articulation all the figs are in scale with eachother! So i'll be collecting Elite mostly but thre are a bunch of Basics that i will be getting. As far as what looks better i think Basic CM Punk is too big. I believe Elite Punk has the better shape but Basic has a slightly better face.

I'm not a fan of any middle joints, but I'll still get certain Elite Figures.

Out of the CM Punk figures, the Basic does look a lot better despite the stars being too far down. The coloured tattoos on the Elite stand out far too much and don't have that faded look like they should have. With the torso joint only taking up a small part of the stomach, it doesn't really look right and kinda deformed.

Yes they look weird, but the two figures picked come with T-Shirts, so you don't see that flaw The Batista Elite joint doesn't look as strange as on CM Punk's and Rey's upper body, does it?

Why would a business go from two products that would outsell one 'perfect' product? doesn't make sense to them

This = spam. Try giving a reason for your hatred of Mattel for once.
