Seeing as this was taped, how did Bret NOT know he would drop the title. I understand that he was told he would win, but if they already taped Raw with HBK as champion..... then how did anyone seemed surprised? I didn't watch the night after, so I am just curious.

No it was taped. That's why Rick Rude was also on WCW Nitro that night cuz Raw had already been taped and Nitro was live.

Rude didn't show up on Nitro the night after Surivor Series, it was the week after. Both RAW and Nitro were live the night after Montreal.

Raw and Nitro were both live the night after Survivor Series 1997, with the following week's Raw taped that same week. So when Rude appeared on Raw and Nitro simultaneously on Nov. 17, 1997, the Raw was taped (shortly after SS '97) and the Nitro was live. Rude also was on the weekly taped ECW episode that week, so if you consider ECW the third "major" promotion of the time, then Rude pulled a hat trick. On all three shows, he performed as a second for that company's main event heel group (DX, NWO, and ECW's Triple Threat).

Man I miss Rick Rude.

Rick Rude in D-X was amazing, wish it would have lasted longer. Me too man. Does anyone remember when he left for WCW, when he was briefly replaced by "Handsome" Harvey?? He came out with the briefcase Rude used to carry around, and wearing a suit like Rude used to and everything...Hilarious..

I could be wrong but wasn't the plan that Bret would win at Survivor Series and then hand the belt over without actually losing it? that could explain why it might have been taped (if it was) with Shawn Michaels as champion.
