Spike TV to Air Two UFC 108 Preliminary Card Bouts on Jan. 2 by Dann Stupp on Dec 11, 2009 at 11:15 am ET
Spike TV will air two fights from the UFC 108 preliminary card prior to the night's pay-per-view main card broadcast, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with a source close to the event.
UFC and Spike TV officials, though, have not determined which of the night's preliminary-card matchups will be part of the Jan. 2 broadcast.
Spike TV officials could not comment on the matter when contacted by MMAjunkie.com today.
UFC 108 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and features a headliner between light heavyweight contenders Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva.
The UFC first offered a PPV teaser broadcast in September for UFC 103 when the UFC went head-to-head with a boxing PPV broadcast featuring Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. PPV teasers were also implemented for UFC 104 and UFC 106, and the offerings have scored audiences of 1.3 million to 1.4 million viewers per event.
UFC president Dana White recently told MMAjunkie.com the teasers won't necessarily become a consistent offering. Instead, he said, UFC and Spike TV officials will decide whether to do the one-hour broadcasts on a case-by-case basis. (This weekend's UFC 107 event, for example, won't air on Spike TV because of the 2009 VGA Awards, which already had the broadcast slot.)
Frontrunners for the UFC 108 Spike TV broadcast include Rafaello Oliveira vs. former champ Sean Sherk, lightweights Dan Lauzon vs. Cole Miller, and welterweight contender Martin Kampmann vs. Rory Markham.

With the way these injuries keep piling up,they may have to end up giving the whole damn thing away for free on Spike.
