these are really cool. theres alot of differences on the lower halves on some of the figures. Owen hart and rick steiner have completely different lower halves, at least that rick doesnt look like its a demolition crush repaint for legs. And looks like tatanka had some kind of tattoo on his leg, or did the second release of him have this? im not sure

Their's a comic book store by my house that had a whole wall full of Hasbros MOC but they were charging a lot for them. I think the Road Warriors were $25 each. If I knew how much they would be worth now I would have bought them all but I didn't like how some of their legs were stuck together.

And looks like tatanka had some kind of tattoo on his leg, or did the second release of him have this? im not sure Only the prototype had the design. It's actually the design on his longer tights that he debuted with. I would imagine the figure was originally slated to be in those long tights, then when he switched over, they simply didn't remove the design on the prototype. Always wanted that Brutus... -J\/\/

Thanks for posting these scans! It's still amazing how different some of the figures turned out from the prototypes. Some of them look much better, and some don't look quite as good as the final product.
I saw a few things here I never really noticed before. Hulk Hogan #4 looks much better with the darker skin tone, and Giant Gonzales looks FAR more like him with no mustache. The original purple card series just looked awesome.
I'm glad they decided to add the green stripes to Macho Man #4 and switch Shawn's body style. It was an improvement.
Man, the difference in the coloring of Razor's beard stubble makes it look like a completely different head.

That Michaels figure is a lot better than the one that came out. Definitely better for sweet chin music.
It's strange that a '93 issue showcase a collector case decorated with images from what looks like early '91.

Notice The Mountie's accesorie is Red? quote] i always wondered why the mountie's cattle prod was released black - would have looked fantastic red, i suppose it's easy to customise

Man, if only they released that version of Doink instead. It is spot-on. That is like the perfect Evil Doink figure. Not even Jakks could get it right. I have no idea why Hasbro didn't release it. It looks much better than the finished version we did get.

Thanks for sharing the pics with us. How funny they wrote "4 1/2 - 5 inch Figures are realistically poseable" on picture No. 7 ;D

Hmmm, checking these pics again shows something interesting; the second picture shows the first ring, but the prototype box features different colors: Warrior in red, Rude in green, different shirt for Hogan. Truly interesting!
