While Forrest Griffin is probably favorite fighter, I'd have to admit Anderson Silva is the dominant force in his weight class and maybe even the best in UFC. I'm fairly new to the sport though, so yeah. Don't bash my opinion too hard.

I don't think it's possible to bash the opinion that Anderson Silva is one of the best in the UFC and a dominant force in his division. There's simply far too much evidence to back that claim up, even though he really put on some stinkers against Cote and Leites.
Silva has made a name for himself by making great fighters look completely bad. Just utterly clueless against him.
When Silva is at his best he's one of the best ever IMO. I'm a massive, massive fan. He's actually my favorite fighter right now, though Fedor comes close, and I have Fedor on top of p4p and like rankings.
Welcome to the sport, by the way.

Silva is the best right now. If it wasn't for Lyoto, he'd have 2 titles.

I don't think so... I mean yeah, Lyoto is champion, but Silva's first fight at 205 was two weeks after Forrest became champion.
If he wanted to make a run at the 205 title, then he could have. But he ended up defending the MW title against Cote and Leites. Lyoto didn't win the title until after that borefest of a fight against Leites.
So the whole "Anderson would be LHW champ if Lyoto wasn't around" is pretty bogus. Yeah, it's probably relevant now that Lyoto IS champ, but in regards of when Anderson made his 205 debut, he probably could have been champion (or at least had a shot as available) before Rashad beat Forrest.

LMFAO, wrong. Anderson and Lyoto both agreed that the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight belts were theirs to go for, respectively. Anderson said so himself several times, even before Lyoto was champion and even before he fought again at LHW against Griffin. He has always said "That's Lyoto's belt".

Well I didn't know that, so thanks for being a jackass. Could've just pointed it out politely.

Hah, Bob Sapp and "politely" have never, ever been used in the same sentence before. So you win...something, I guess.
That's just part of his charm, though.

Actually... more or less all of it was fine. It was the "LMFAO, wrong." that was unneeded.

I just have a barrier for people talking about things they don't know the details about.

I agree with you though..I think Silva's remaining fights are going to be incredible. Especially a Nate Marquardt rematch...since even Anderson himself has said that he thinks Nate will be the next great champion at 185. Im pretty sure Silva said that just to downplay Vitor.

well since this thread is about UFC fighter and not based merely all MMA Fighters, I would have to say either BJ Penn or GSP . Anderson Silva has to be mentioned aswell as possibly the best fighter the UFC has.
