I just find it remarkable that it's still around more than 8 years later. It's second only to "WOO!" as far as long-serving wrestling phrases go, imo.

That stupid chant is hands down the most annoying thing to ever grace WWF/E. The overuse of that chant honestly made me stop watching for awhile.

Another thing I find lame is that you hate the 'What?' chant because it is annoying and often used at times where it doesn't make sense, yet people think 'Really? Really?' or 'Woo Woo Woo. You Know It' are good catchphrases.

I dont know who or what started this catchphrase and when it started, but I do know that when they need to have a plant hold up a sign on TV with that phrase, it is not catching on.

This just sounds like quite a few people need to get over themselves. Just because you may have 'grown out' of yelling 'What?' because you are big boys now, doesn't mean younger children have to.The 'What?' chant has remained a popular one for nearly 8 years now and it is a chant that works brilliantly in getting superstars riled up. Think about how many heels have reacted to that chant and have provided an entertaining moment. I'm assuming that everyone complaining about this chant being annoying, disrespectful and boring are the same people that think shouting 'F*** You' at superstars isn't any of these things. There's a chant for morons. It would be different if it was the little children chanting "what" however, I doubt most little children sound like grown men. Chanting random crapat inappropriate times is uncool. It's obvious that fans don't know how the chant started and they just want to use it...It would be like someone chanting "you're gonna get you head kicked in" during a Triple H and John Cena match...no sense whatsoever

I honestly find it to be one of, if not the most annoying thing in wrestling. Amen! It's time to put that tired old horse out to pasture!

The "What?" chant has to be the worst thing ever introduced in pro wrestling. What could possibly be worse? Shockmaster? Bastion Booger? The Gobbledygooker? Mark Madden? David Arquette? Nicole Bass? None of those things are as abysmal as "What?" Rednecks, frat boys, morons, and their devilspawn love it, though. Seriously, who are the nitwits than chant this? It sickens me at live events. So so so lame, so very annoying. This thread makes me

The "What" chants and the "You Suck" chants at Kurt Angle when he's a face ffs both really annoy me.

I think it is pretty annoying I never shouted what when people are talking during a show, but the house shows/super shows don't really have alot of talking just alot of matches.

You Know It' are good catchphrases. Neither of those have been around 8 years. And they won't be around for 8 years for two reasons: 1. They won't catch on (because they suck) 2. The Miz and Zack Ryder won't be around for 8 years. I doubt they'll both be here in 2 or 3 years to be honest. I've gotta say I don't get what the problem is with the 'What?' chant, as long as people only yell it when the superstar talking has paused (it doesn't work if it is just being yelled out over what the superstar is saying. Like I said, people think yelling 'F*** You' and abusive comments at wrestlers are clever and witty, but saying 'What?' is disrespectful? Gimme a break.
