I think a lot of people are bummed over Mattel WWE because they have a HUGE roster of RA or DA figures, and having atleast 1 of every single RA (from RA & CS), I am partially in that catagory, however while I stared at the wall of 12 pegs PACKED with the Repaint wave at my TRU, it hit me why I don't care that much about the change.
Think about when Ruthless Aggression first hit...look at that assortment. First figures for Orton, Cena & Chavo, first WWE figures for Mysterio & Bischoff along with probably the best Brock ever made. Look at Series 2. Kidman, Dreamer, Noble, Batista, Rico, Steiner...again a whole wave of NEW guys. And as the first few assortments of RA moved on, we were still getting new guys like Goldberg, Hurricane, Goldust, and so on...
I was so pumped for these because I wanted these figures. With Mattel, why do I want Jericho, HHH, Cena, Batista right away? What benefit is it to get a Batista, knowing that they will have a new one in a few months with his current tattoos. Why should I buy Series 2 Vlad? He doesn't wear white anymore? In face, the only 'new' figure in the first 2 waves is Primo...and I don't think many people will be fighting over him.
If Series 1 had, oh...let's say Dolph Ziggler & Zach Ryder I would enjoy this release day so much more. That's not to say I don't like the figures, I think they are better then Jakks RA...except for the heads of course. I love that that each figure seems to have a unique sculpt...I just wish we had some new guys...like Sheamus?? McIntyre?? Tatsu?? Even a 2-pack with DH/Kidd??
So, ya, that's how I feel...I'm sure in a year or 2 I will be knees deep in Mattel...I'm just not that thrilled yet...

You are mad at Mattel because they put their figures in to production months back just so they could be on time for Jan? And you are mad at them because of this choice they may have had some figures that were a little out of date? Well I am sure Mattel's revenue will fall greatly because they didn't release only the new guys and new blood from the WWE. Primo! I love this figures and 90% of the people on here do. This is their first time producing figures for a very dedicated fan base and they have done a ing great job in my book.

I hear ya somewhat since they are compatible with RA... If they weren't I think people would've more likely ordered whole sets to restart their collections. But, it's nothing to complain about. Just think of it as saving money... Or do what I did and just get the figures Jakks has epically failed on... I.E. Evan Bourne, Kingston, Jericho, Rey, etc... (All guys who were made too tall)
You also have to consider, this is Mattel's FIRST release, of course they're gonna toss out the best sellers(we're lucky to have got Kofi and Evan). Whereas, Jakks had released several different series' before RA that were somewhat similar in size, so, they could get away with a couple midcarders.

i see what you mean. but basically mattel has to get the big guys out there because these are their first figures during their contract and they are the money makers. Id love ryder, sheamus and others but they just aren't going to pull in this $$$ which is what they are after in the long run.Im sure they are going to add more and more newer people as we already have a ton more announced and at the rate they are already showing up in stores i have a feeling we will see newer guys like sheamus soon like by june/july soon. Which is pretty fast considering they already have 4 future line ups of most lines announced.
Plus in these first few lines they did make kofi, bourne, santino, beth, rhodes, dibiase, primo, & carlito. All people outside of kofi jakks didnt make too many of and are somewhat newer faces.

You make good points. BUT...Mattel is new at WWE. When Jakks did RA, they had a market and a fan base for its Jakks products. They did not have to introduce a totally new line of figures. Mattel is used to doing comic book heroes. IN order to put out a competitive product and also make collectors understand that Mattel is replacing Jakks, they needed to put out names that are recognizable. Thats why their first wave consisted mostly of figures everyone has by name....Cena, HHH, Batista.

i kind of agree with you i see where you're coming from i only started collecting 5 yrs ago so i don't have MANY RAs, but i would like other guys like hart dynasty, which theyre making in the next few sets, and maybe ryder and yoshi tatsu, the guys that jakks didn't make, but i'm satisfied for now with the figs, we'll get what we want eventually...i hope (knock on wood)

I never said I was mad at Mattel, and I never said they were poor figures...I'm just explaining why I'm not thrilled about what's available. I have over a thousand wrestling figures from the past 12 years, not to mention thousands of other action figures, and I've just never been this disappointed in a release.

Your point is absurd. People who think that Mattel should have made a set with no big name wrestlers are using the same ass backward logic as the people who think Curt Hawkins should Main Eventing instead of Cena because "Cena doesn't need the spotlight".
WWE is about making money. Mattel is about making money. That's the point of running a company. The big names such as Cena, Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho are popular and they will sell. Eventually Jakks will get to the lower-card wrestlers, but it makes perfect and LOGICAL sense to start at the TOP and work their way DOWN.

i really only care about the guys from the late 80's and early 90's anyway so when that stuff comes out I'm sure it'll piss me off a little since I own a perfectly good collection of that era

I've read that it takes 9 months to develop a wave of figures from start to finish, so it wouldn't have been possible for Mattel to get guys like Tatsu, Sheamus and McIntyre into the first wave, and the Hart Dynasty didn't form until mid year either, so it makes that they're not in the first couple of waves of 2-packs. I'm sure we'll get most of them before the year ends, but it makes sense to me that Mattel would start off with the big names for their first release.

I think it's the novelty that has everyone, including myself excited, And Rightfully so, becasue, as you said, the figures are great. However, I too am try to practice a bit of restraint because, We are gonna see more of these same figures down the road and we're definately going to get updates. I bought thee 6 basics, 3 elites, and the legacy 2 pack. I'm still on the fence between Elite and basic. Aside from the clothing, Elite really doesnt bring much else to the table for me that I cant get from basics that would justify me spending 15 bucks. So, I'm content on waiting for some updates. I dont need Morrison and Miz when i know they will be released again with up to date attires, I dont need an Edge, when i know they will release another one, hopefully with a different scan. So yeah, it's a matter of self control and not going crazy for stuff that will be out eventually.
